Well just got back from our trip to Beardmore for our Bear and Moose trip.We drove straight thru on Tuesday night,a 15 hour drive so we could get in 3 nights of Bear hunting before the Moose opener on Saturday.Iwas tired but eager to get into the stand as we knew a good bear was hitting the bait Iwas going to sit that night.Well as the daylight began to dwindle Igot a text from my brother at 8 o clock that he had been watching a sow with 2 cubs about 350 yards away on the hillside and they had started to work their way towards his bait.It wouldnt be long before dark so instead of getting trapped at the bait by momma and her babies cause he had no intention of shooting her he told me he was leaving.I had told him I would be on my way to pick him up but he suggest I stay for a bit longer.I decided to stay another10 minutes before pulling out.Nothing had happened so I lowered my bow to the ground and turned around to unhook my safety harness. As I turned back around towards the bait,There he was at the bait staring up at me in the stand. Now were staring at each other, but him with the advantage as my bow is about 15 feet away on the ground. He decides to walk towards the tree when he stops and begins to lick the grease and wheat out of a 5 gallon pail I had carried in and dumped at the bait site. This was the oppurtunity Iwas waiting for to pull up my bow.I settled the pin on the bear but did not like the shot as he was laying down.I would wait for him to stand up exposing that front leg so I could take out his lungs.Well he pulls out his head and wouldnt you know it he comes directly to the tree offering no shot. All the time starring up at me in the stand. He knows damn well Im up in that tree. When he reaches my tree he looks up and begins to try and climb the tree so I shout at him hoping he will back away and offer a shot.Instead he goes around the back side of the tree and begins to try and climb the wooden ladder.Something spooks him and he runs out and stops at 15 yards. Here is my chance.I settled the Excalibur behind the shoulder and let it fly.The bear runs off and falls over about 15 yards from the spot I had shot him. Here is the video of the hunt along with some other pictures of our trip.I love going North in the fall,The fishing is great and the scenery is absolutely breathtaking

No I wasnt shaking Austin ,I was trying to cock the bow without the cocking aid and with shoulder surgery back in june getting that bow cocked by hand was a struggle.

Congrats on a great looking bear. You definately had a few anxious moments. lol

Didn't know you could use pike as bait. B-)

Hey Chris the pike were so hungry in that lake they were trying to eat there own kind as you can see.Iwatched him follow up the smaller one and latch on and he didnt want to let go so I just grabbed him out of the water.

Yeah Bryan its a handsfree that attaches to my hat.Its made by Contour. At the time I bought it they were around 230 dollars but I see they have come down in price because there seems to more companies making them now.Contour now has attachments for your gun ,bows and other things that they didnt have when I bought mine. They sure are nice as long as you remember to hit the record button which has happened a few times.
