Cdn Hunter took me to one of his secret haunts lastnight for a late season bowhunt. He had been waiting for almost all of the season for the right winds and circumstances to hit this spot. Had to access the place from the next concession so took all our gear in by quad, then walked the rest.
After slowly tip toeing through the swamp with just enouch ice on the water, we finally picked a tree that i could climb and be able to sneak an arrow through some lanes.
As i prepared my climber for the after noon evening Ron slipped away further into the swamp.
It didn't take long before i got a text from Ron that a deer was up and moving, a little while later he had the buck, "half rack" at his climber and it was moving my way, looked like the setup was perfect. A little while later "half rack" ( a 1.5 year old with 4 points on his right and a broken main beam on the left) went walking by me. Not long after that i heard a snap behind me, i finally cranked my neck around enough, slowly to find a little 1.5 year old basket 4 creeping along through the woods heading out to a cornfield.
No other deer showed but the night was a success. I enjoyed myself and saw deer!
Its great to get out with others in different areas.

Sounds like a great night to me although you you didnt see the buck you needed to let that arrow fly.But your right it is nice to sit in a different spot instead of looking at the same old trees that you have been all season long.

Sounds like a good time indeed and there's time left for more of that, and an opportunity at the big boy!

I agree, hunting the same spot gets old real quick let alone this far into the season.

On the other hand, I know yardage very well and can tell when something is out of place.
It works both ways.

Too bad the big boys didn't show up...however it was a good hunt nevertheless.....

Hopefully we get to do it again soon, the clock is ticking though...

With a bit of luck our tags can be filled in a blink of an eye.

Cheers
