Well first of all I WOULD LIKE TO THANK EVERYONE WHO VOTED FOR ME IN LAST YEARS PREDATOR CONTEST THAT ALLOWED ME TO GO ON THIS HUNT.Well I arrived on Friday around 11;00 am and met Joe at the house,We wasted no time heading out to see where I would be spending the next 7 days trying to put a couple of these wolves on the ground. It was about a 14 hour drive to get there but with the anticipation of shooting a wolf lurking I suddenly wasnt feeling tired from the long drive anymore.Joe took me to 3 different spots he had been baiting and all 3 bait sites had fresh sign of wolves in the area. Now it was just a matter of picking the right spot and putting in the time.I immediately went back to the house where Iwas going to say which I must saywas very comfortable I unpacked my stuff had a quick bite to eat and out the door I went.Joe has a couple of great set ups there to help keep you out of the awful weather that the north can deliver. Were talking SNOW and Temperatures in the -20 range. Here is the Snow we got on the Saturday night. Anyways these are the setups joe had which were great for keeping you out of the wind and snow.It was still FRIGGIN cold but they sure helped![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() My first Wolf sighting was the morning after we got the heavy snow. That morning it was still snowing and about 15 minutes after it was light enough to shoot a nice reddish coloured wolf came out just left of the bait and into the field and dissapeared as fast as he had shown up.I thought well he might be back.I sat and waited on that stand at the barn from6;30 in the morning until 5 that night.10 and a half hours and he never came back.My next wolf sighting would be on the Wednesday night just before dark,A huge wolf made another short appearance at the bus bait. This wolf was so big when he came around the trees I thought it was a deer at first then I remembered there are no deer around there. He was there for about 3 seconds then gone, something at the bait wasnt to his liking so he quickly turned and headed back the same direction he had came from.I went back the next day and there was fresh wolf tracks all around the bait so I then decided I would spend the remainder of my week hunting the bus bait hoping that this big wolf that I had only seen for a mere 3 seconds would show himself one more time.Well it never did happen. In all it was a very enjoyable week,Very peaceful and nice to get away from the craziness of everyday life .Iwould like to Thank Joe,Sarah and Daniel, for everything and Iwould reccomend to any of our members if your looking to go Bear ,Moose or want to give Wolf hunting a try, give WOLFESCREEK GUIDES a call, they will defenitely take good care of you.

I came back in feb.( -35 and windy ) with another 2 tons of bait. The hunters could only hunt a few hours and in a few days quit.i baited in my t shirt.I turned 60 a few weeks ago.Back surgery went excellent. The pain for 21 years is gone. And,no,I'didn't get a divorce, either. It's kind of sad. This season is almost done.I started hunting by my self 46 years ago.Good news comming down the pipe line.Merry Christmas and happy new years.Be safe, not sorry.Brent |
