When I deer hunt, I don't shoot small game.
I'm not going to shoot a turkey and then watch the buck of a lifetime bound away out of sight, likely forever.

It's always the same concern for me... if I were to see one while deer hunting I'd be a little weary about taking it and spoiling my deer hunt. But I definitely am up for taking another bird and not having to wait til May of next year. I guess it all depends on the moment.

The first two weeks of deer season for me are as much scouting as hunting.
I don't set out trail cams as too many people access the property when we're not there. More than an hour drive to get there.

The fall turkey season is from Oct. 11 to the Oct. 23rd.

It would be nice to harvest a fall bird for Thanksgiving or Christmas.
I would like to see a season the last 2 weeks of September or the last two weeks leading up to our Thanksgiving holiday weekend.

Another issue I have is not being able to use a leftover tag from the spring hunt.
I don't usually buy a second tag for the spring as time off work becomes a factor. To burn an unused tag and then have to purchase another in the fall does not sit well with me. The second spring tag should be good for spring or fall as far as I'm concerned.

The way it is run now is just a money grab. To seriously hunt turkey in the fall the way it is now I have to redirect efforts from my deer hunt. This I WILL NOT do!!

I'll be hunting turkey's this fall as well. I'm doing the controlled deer hunt in nov. so it won't spoil anything for me. Good luck to the rest of you guys who are also hunting them this fall.
