definately a boar! he's long, its real tough to judge on that pic. One thing that tips me off to a bear thats about 200 to 250 is all that space from its belly to the ground. I think he just has a really nice thick coat, but i don't believe he's a 300lb class bear. big ears too. Again real hard to tell his weight from that angle. If you like him, smash him!!!!! good luck |

Its definitly very hard to judge the size of a bear... Guys that have alot of experience hunting them probably can judge the size alot better than us guys that dont have much experience at all.. Id kill him anyhow lol |

When I look at that image and see how much that bear dwarfs the barrel, I see a prime bear for the taking. Looking at the date and temp on the image I would speculate that this may be a late season bear in that particular location. His hide is in prime shape and would look very good on your wall. |

Is that a 50gal drum? how far is that barrel from the stump, bear is infront of it. We don't use barrels so without it standing its real hard for me to judge. I've heard lots of guys say if at top ring when barrel standing its in the 300lb range. We use a method where the bear stands and then we can judge, 5t, 6ft, whatever, then look at ears and amount of space from belly to ground for weight. Thats one thick coat so actual body is probably couple of inches inside hair line, thats alot of space from belly to ground but i certainly see what guys are saying as compared to that barrel. If thats a 50gal drum then that bear is long and thick. could very well be 300 not sure. Shoot him and find out!!!! |

I'd say 300lbs is a good estimate. Looks like a good sized boar. Perry your going to see the bigger bears starting hitting the baits now with this cold weather and berries coming to an end. Hang in there, you will have a crack at him. |

Fishermen often fudge the truth when it comes to fish size, if you shoot him and tell us he weighed 300lbs, we would have to believe you. ;-) Good luck. |
