I cant believe its finally over. There has been this one Tom that has made the 30 acre bush that my brother and I hunt his home for the past two years. This bird has caused me and my brother many sleepless nights wondering what went wrong, why would he do that, leaving us with many questions about his behavior. This bird was so smart we actuallygave him the nickname ''EINSTEIN''.He was so wary that even if he heard a car coming down the dirt road he would run for the bush right in the middle of a strutting display for his lady friends in the middle of the field..Overthe last 3 weeks I have hunted this bird almost everyday only to have himbolt for no reason,or hang upjust out of range. There was even days I would find myself damn near sitting right underneath him in his roost only to have him fly down at daybreak in the wrong direction leaving me again to listen to him wander through the bush gobbling as he gathered up his lady friends. They say Turkeys cant smell but I was beginning to believe this Tom could and withthe other great senses they haveI thought this bird would never be shot. This hunt for this tomover the last 3 weeks has been exciting and very frustrating at times but today it all came to an end.I got in the bush early today so I could take my time and literally tip toe to my spot making sure not to make sure not to make any unnecasary noise going in.''EINSTEIN''was known to roost close to the same area most of the time so thats where I was headed. As I sat therein the darkI wondered if I was in the right spot today. As it began to lighten I gave a crow call to see if I could get a response so I would know where he was.The crows were what usuallyset him off gobbling every morning.I got no response so I thought maybe he wasnt there today, but he had been there everyday for 3 weeks. Then after a few minutes a thunderous gobble echoes to my left.I sounds close,REALLY close. Then another gobble and another. Then a single hen started to yelp and I found myself between the two of them. They continued to talk back and forth which I knew was a good thing for me.I had the the direction he would be flying down to meet his lady friend dialed in.The hen let out some loud cackles and down he came like a Bowing 747 right at me.He lands about 10 yards in front of me and as soon as his feet hit the ground,BOOOOOOM,it was over finally''EINSTEIN'' was dead.As I walked over to him and looked down at him I had much respect for this bird. With this Tom it wasnt about how big his beard or spurs were going to be but finally outsmarting the most wariest and smartest turkey I had ever seen.Oh yeah thanks Bushman007 for letting me use your gun yesterday so I could shoot the 3 1/2 inch shells but I dont think I really needed it today at ten yards.''EINSTEIN'' WEIGHED 20 LBS ,10 INCH BEARD ,SPURS1 INCH AND THE OTHER WAS 7/8 INCHES.I will post pictures later. There are pictures on the Battle of the BEARDS THREAD.

gooder

Congrats on your mission accomplished. Your story reminds me of a bird that treated me in a similar manner a few years ago and he got the same 'as soon as his feet hit the ground' medicine you gave today. Congrats!!!!
