Got out again with pypredator Tuesday morning for a quick hunt before I had to be at work at 8. We've been trying to get an archery kill on video with nothing but bad luck and close calls. We set up on a fenceline where I've seen them strutting in the last week. Anyway this guy showed up in the middle of a winter wheat field shortly after flydown. His hen came straight across the field to the dekes. He wasn't showing much interest till I gave him some fighting purrs. He closed a bit of distance slowly with minor interest. A couple of jakes started coming hard and that was all it took. He came on a string almost at a run right to my strutter deke. I was already at full draw and didn't give him time to beat up my decoy much to Steve's dismay. I should have let him come out from behind the decoy a litlle more for better video. I took him at 9 yards right at the wing butt. He then did a few flips and flops and went about 5 yards but had his head still up. I knocked another arrow and when he got back up and stumbled a couple yards i finished him off quickly. The time was 6:25am. When Steve finishes up the video I'll post it up. Here are a couple pics. The good ones were taken on my lunch at work thanks to fishnhunt. The field photos were on the phone so not high quality.
