made two stands this morning. Called about 45 minutes at the first spot with no takers and at the 35 minute mark of the second stand I was just about to get up and leave when i see a pair of ears hop across down in front of me no more then 15 yards away. I was calling at that second and the coyote was making a bee-line for the decoy when he stopped to look at me calling then the gig was over. He started high-tailing it towards the bush but had to cross a wire fence and I rolled him soon as he got threw it. He got up and was doing the death spin when i fed him another and he dropped. This coyote came from the complete opposite direction I thought he was going to come from, he must of ran down a fence line past the barn for about 300 yards because there is no other bush from the way he came from. Nice 34lb male. every coyote i've shot this year has been a male, must not be hurting the population to much yet. ![]() ![]()

while I was skinning this coyote I noticed it has the start of mange. You can see a big gap in the fur in that pic, right behind its head on the scruff of its neck. There was shorter hair there but didn't notice at the time, I got half way threw skinning it and I found more bald spots between its legs. Second coyote I shot from this block with mange. I finished skinning it but I don't think its worth anything. To bad, I bet a couple weeks ago he would of been in prime shape. owell i hope they all get mange, this is my home block where we deer hunt, Hoping to thin them out big time. |
