I just did the turkey course and the instructor said that the best archery shot is a Texas Heart Shot. Would this not good for the meat? To me that be like making a gut shot on a deer not pretty! |

They recommend it because it gives you time to draw your bow undetected and it does give you a direct route to the vitals. If you miss but you shot is centered you'll likely hit the spine. That said I prefer the broadside wing butt(break the wing or spine and he's not going far and you will almost certainly hit the vitals with this shot) shot but I've only killed one bird with an arrow.
