Somewhere on the Newhart Mountains

The sun had just come up. It was a sunny day no clouds could be seen in miles. The fire they had lit up the night before was still releasing some smoke. With a yawn, Haru woke up he was extremely tired but they had to get going. As such, he walked towards Alphonse bend down and with a nudge said:

"Al wake up its morning, we have to get going."

It was the second day of their training trip to the Newhart Mountains. The first day was not exciting. By the time they had arrived it was already afternoon and therefore they just went into the forest and set camp. Haru and Alphonse had decided to train in preparation of taking the hunter exam. They had chosen the Newhart Mountains as their training place because of rumors about monsters living in the area. It was also away from civilization which was perfect for their training.

While waiting for Alphonse to get ready, Haru took out a chocolate bar from his backpack and took a bite out of it.

"Al wake up its morning, we have to get going."

With a big yawn and a stretch Alphonse woke up in his sitting position with his back against one of the many big coniferous trees that surrounded them. He was still a bit groggy, but non the less he moved the hat that was covering his eyes and got up.

"Right, i guess we should get going soon, just let me grab something to eat."

After along the tree a little he gets down on one knee and removes his backpack from inside a tree hollow. As he makes his way back towards Haru he takes out a bottle of water and a small loaf of bread. Within a few minutes the bread is gone and the bottle is back inside his backpack. With a smile he turns back towards his companion .

"Are you ready?"

Alphonse turned to the trail ahead and took in the site in front of him. Well... it wasn't really a path, just a some empty space inbetween trees, but then again, its not like they were in some big tourist destination. Throughout the previous day all they had seen were a few small animals and some deertrails. The edges of the forest might have started to be cut down, but there was still a vast forest inside.

With his hands on his backpack's straps he took a few steps forward.

"Are you ready?"

As soon as Haru heard Alphonse's words he turned his head around to look at him.

"Finally, took you long enough" He said "Anyways, lets just go."

He quickly got up and swept the dirt that had collected from sitting down on the ground. He, then, started walking towards the deepest parts of the forest with Alphonse walking close behind him. After about half an hour of walking they came across a rather big wild boar. It was the first animal they had seen after setting off that morning.

"We should consider killing it, we could use his meat for food"

Before Haru could finish his words the Boar noticed them and immediately charged towards them. It was fast, faster than a normal wild boar but not as fast as haru. Pushing Alphonse aside he jumped to the other side resulting in the boar missing both. With a swift move he took out his twin daggers and got ready to fight.

With a slight thud Alphonse's chest collided with a nearby tree, luckily his head went to the side and missed it. He might have been thankful for the help, but the execution of it could have been a little better. Quickly he spun around to face the boar. After taking a step away from the tree in the boar's direction he starts waving his arm around.

"Yeah, we could use some more food for our trip. Hey, over here you stupid tub of lard!"

The boar, irritated by the movement and sound started dashing in his direction. While waiting for the animal to get closer Alphonse drew his sword from underneath his coat and prepared himself. As the boar got close to him he quickly dashed to the right out of the boar's way.

After Alphonse dodged the boar's attack Haru run after the boar slashing downwards. The slash barely hit the wild animal and little stains of blood formed on Haru's dagger. The animal let out a small cry as it attempted to flee into the thick forest. They quickly lost sights of it but it had left clues to its whereabouts. First and foremost, the blood from its wound had been left behind. Haru pointed at the ground and said "This is it's blood, if we follow it we are sure to find it"

With a sigh Alphonse turned towards Haru, his left hand rubbing on his chest where he had collided with the tree. "I had hoped the boar would run into the tree, guess we are not getting that lucky." With a smooth motion his sword was once again resting in its scabbard underneath his coat. having put away his weapon he turned towards Haru who had just pointed out the bloodtrail that the boar left behind. "it ran off, would chasing it down be worth it?"

Alphonse slowly moved his head from right to left. The surrounding forest had been slowly becoming denser the further they had traveled and there was no end in sight. The blood left behind by the boar formed a noticable line into a dense part of the forest. With a small sigh Alphonse started making his way into the forest in the same direction the boar had ran. Judging by the amount of blood the wound would not be enough to kill the boar, so they would probably be chasing a wounded animal around.

"It's not going to die from just that, so lets just make sure it doesn't run off again next time we find it." With that Alphonse walked next to the small bloodtrail into the dense forest. Once every so often he would glance down to check if he was still on the right track.

"it ran off, would chasing it down be worth it?"

"Hmm, i do not know if it is. Will we be able to find any more of them? They are probably one of the only sources of food we will be able to find. Anyways, by now that boar has put some distance between us. We will waste a lot of energy chasing it down. But judging from how long it took us to find just one boar we don't have the choice to be picky so lets just go after it"

Haru let out a sigh they had just let their best chance of finding something to eat and they had let it go. He was kind of disappointed with himself for that incident. But they could compensate for that by actually catching it

"It's not going to die from just that, so lets just make sure it doesn't run off again next time we find it.

"I was just going to let it escape again, but ok!" Haru said and followed Alphonse into the forest keeping his guard up constantly. Who knew what they would find there.

After walking for about half an hour the trail suddenly stopped. Haru looked around him trying to find where the pig had hid. He searched the bushes around him while trying not to make a lot of noise so it would not alarm it.

"He has to be somewhere around here"

Haru moved around a bush and his eyes widened. "Hey! look at this!" He whispered. In front of him another part of the forest appeared he could not see before, but that's not what caught his attention. There where huge pigs standing in front of them 5 of them in fact. They had big snouts and weird teeth.

What should we do? If we manage to kill them we will have food for the rest of the trip. Do you think we should try?

"Hey! look at this!" Haru had walked around part of a bush and seemed to have found something interesting. Alphonse made his way towards Haru to try and find out what he had seen. The moment he laid his eyes upon the giant boars he froze for a few seconds. This was the first time he had seen boars this massive and this both intrigued and worried him. Their large snouts looked big enough to squash him if he were to be pressed against a nearby tree.

"What should we do? If we manage to kill them we will have food for the rest of the trip. Do you think we should try?" "Hmmm" Alphonse had to think for a moment to weigh their options. With his hand on his chin he looked around at the part of the forest in front of him and the boars. "The smaller boar we found earlier ran away from us after being hit, but I don't think these ones will do the same. If we were to kill one of them we would have more than enough food, but then again are we really going to carry all of that with us? based on the smaller boar’s behavior I think all 5 of them might attack us if we disturbed them."

Alphonse turned away from the pigs to look at the surrounding area, the smaller boar they had been following was nowhere in sight. He wouldn’t have minded fighting one boar, but five seemed like a bad idea.
