"..Man, this is what I love about you people," she gave a slight giggle, a bit too eager for what was going to happen. Man, what a brute she was evolving into. What had happened to the cold collected, analytical gambler that she was supposed to be once upon a time? Sure she's back to her roots, but has the discovery of Nen amplified something else? Was she too interested in Nen that she was losing herself to it? Maybe this was why people gave so many warnings to her about her newfound power. She was gonna drown it in someday, just as she drowned in gambling. And who knew what she would become if that were to happen? "You don't even know what cards you've been dealt, and you're raising the bet. I love it! I love it I love IT I LOOOOOOVE IT WHOOOOOOOOOO!" She punched her forehead, her nen bursting forward in Ren. It wasn't necessary, really. The conditions she put on herself required that she was gambling something valuable to her in order for her to fully utilize them. Even so, she always took it one step forward, some kind of additional self imposed goal. But when someone like this guy here already played that for her, she was way too excited to play by their rules. Fighting, by all means, was just another game. A bit more dangerous and definitely more of a desperate gamble, but a fun one none the less. And for Koi to meet a person who was willing to play along with her, well... That made her heart blossom. And by heart I mean her Nen. She was bubbling up in it. She returned to her own martial pose, almost imitating Spike's own boxing stance. Rather than make any gesture with her hands as he did, Koi instead would make a peace sign, winking and blowing a kiss at him flirtatiously. "This is true love we're making!" And with a sudden pounce forward, the match began. IT"S ON!" |

The declaration and the giggle that erupted from his opponent made Spike bite his lips as he processed what he was seeing, as well as how he felt about it. Normally his thought process was fairly simple with combat and conflict in general: fight or flight. Whichever he went with was completely situational, yet when it came to fighting the activity was always one with just survival in mind; victory was optional compared to just making it through. Enjoying the struggle seemed like a foreign concept. This women and the obvious, almost sensual, pleasure she was getting from this exchange was highly bizarre. Fascinating, but bizarre just the same. What was stranger was that somewhere along the line Spike found himself getting into it too. The hunter's teeth released his lip as an odd curiosity overwhelmed his reservations, with one question becoming front and center in his mind: Can I beat her? A smile slowly spread across his face as he bounced that thought around in his head, really knowing only one way to really find out. No matter the outcome he'd really have to thank this woman, whoever she really was. He hadn't lusted for a good fight in a long damn time, probably around the time his typical opponents started bringing guns and knifes to a fist fight. Playing for keeps had a nasty way of really taking the fun out of gambling with your livelihood. Either way, this was a feeling he'd forgotten had brought so much fun in the past. The hunter's smile got even wider as he pondered if adding a dinner date to the stakes would be in poor taste at this point. "Don't disappoint me!" Spike blurted in a loud, playful tone as he lunged forward with the same enthusiasm. Keeping his left arm close to his chest, he opened this friendly spar off with a right cross at "Wisteria's" cute little nose. Edited by Bug in a Bag, Nov 21 2017, 09:28 PM.

"Likewise, sweetie~!" A straightforward rush. Good, good. He's learned not to try and disappoint a fair even fight. Koi couldn't help but giggle again as she met his pace and dashed forward. She kept her eyes on his movements carefully, but kept more focus in thinking about her objectives here. A gambling game like this did require some good knowledge of the opponent in order to make smart reads. And it wasn't like this little pre-match banter had opened up any information either. As it turns out, the two of them were quite well accustomed to paranoia and secrecy. Just another one of life's little fun moments. She needed to know what he was capable of, and what his affiliations were. Even as a stranger, this man could be useful to her. If she could factor that in and try to leverage something even beyond this deal, that would help her immensely in this foreign territory of hers. It'd help her own network too, though she wasn't sure how quite yet. She'll figure it out eventually no worries there. But then what if this guy WAS a hunter? The bonafide type? And if so, was he a sort of black list hunter? Koi's history certainly was enough for people to start raising eyebrows if she revealed too much, and this fight might be a giveaway to an experienced eye. As far as the two were concerned they were both just collectors and sellers. But judging by how the two of us seemed to handle ourselves, it was pretty obvious both of us were hiding something. He was smart enough to know that. What else could he extrapolate? For this reason, Koi decided she'd keep her fighting style basic to try and bait out some more information. No critical draws or calls, she'd just be building her wall of mahjong tiles to see what hands come up. Back to the match. She opted out of blocking, Instead slamming her foot on the ground to make a sudden swerve to his lower right. If he wanted to retaliate with a kick, it'll be easier to knock him off balance for a quick clean hit. Though she shouldn't have put in all that force into her foot. Need to conserve energy... what was she taught? The 7/10ths rule of the fight. No matter what she did, she needed to avoid outputting more than 70% of her total potential. Especially in a good fight like this. Just another thing she would have to be thinking about throughout the whole thing. But more importantly, Koi could release a more interesting chance for an instant KO. The dirty kind that she had grown to adore during her training. A nice solid punch to his liver. Even with nen, a sufficient enough blow to such a place would be enough to at the very least double him over. Unless he was on point with his defense there may not be much for him to do. She didn't strike immediately though; she was more concerned about seeing what this man could do more than scoring that quick kill. This wasn't some sort of stupid job with someone else's rules. This was a brawl, a flat fight. And if she had the chance to savor it a bit at the very least she'll play a bit more. There was at least one positive about her shitty lifestyle before all of this: Koi's learned enough about combat and games that she can truly put her all into it. God, she missed this... what had happened to her that she couldn't even enjoy the one thing she loved the most? |

Spike had already been wearing a smirk when he'd rushed into the fray, yet it actually widened when his opening punch hit only air. A block would've given a hint to her proficiency with Gyo, as well as Nen available to play with, so a dodge alluded to at the very least a rudimentary understanding of tactics, which wasn't really surprising. The hunter's jab swiftly withdrew back the second his opponent evaded, restoring the simple stance to protect his core and prepping for an attack that didn't come. The lack of a counterattack by Wisteria gave Spike a few welcomed seconds to backpedal a few steps and square up with her once again. In the midst of pondering what to do between a quick breath, it occurred to him that for being a brawl, this kind of fight inherently involved more thinking than his normal frantic exchanges, not even counting the times he just shot people. Finishing the target in the quickest, and hopefully most efficient, way was typically his style, but here he was trying not throw himself fully into this on the off-chance he got careless. The novelty of having a duel was wearing off fast. Spike slid backwards as if to take another step back, only to lean forward and aim a low punting kick directly at the ground, shifting fifty percent of his Nen to that foot right before impact. The sweep carved a path through the pavement like a warm scoop through ice cream, sending a heavy shower of dust, pebbles and the odd cigarette butt or wad of trampled gum at Wisteria. An instinctual use of Ryu brought back his Nen to an even disruption, while he lunged forward to take advantage of his concrete barrage. Spike feinted with his right arm as if extending from another jab, then swung up with his left at an arc into a text-book bolo punch; once again at the woman's face. Technique Used
