It was raining again.

The sounds of York Shin were muffled, as if the pour-down protected the area from the harshness of the city. Traffic seemed higher and usual, as well as foot traffic due to the annual auctions being hosted in the city. Many people came to partake in the legal auctions, but for as many people that participated there was just as many that partook of the illegal auctions that ran through the streets at the time. Only people with certain credentials could get in; politicians, Mafias from different continents, CEOs, and anyone else that had the money to partake in the festivities.

One of these auctions happened to be the selling of women.

And Ylva Haugen was one of these women, but she was particularly special than the others.

She was the only majyuu amongst them.

Preparations for her and the other girls that were exceptional in what they provided. Word of the wolf majyuu spread far, of how expertly she pleased men of all sorts and never denied any request that was asked of her. It didn’t help that her animalistic features seemed exotic, especially with men that had never even dared to dream of meeting a majyuu.

They would all be auctioned off to the highest bidder and provide their service until the end of the York Shin auctions on the tenth of September.

Esfir had taken care to dressing and dolling up the girls for the evening, although she was reluctant to mess with Ylva. There was always some sort of animosity towards the she-wolf from the other but there were actual eyes on her this time, making sure that Esfir was doing her job. Demyan stood in the door way as he watched, the fringe of his bangs obscuring his blue eyes as he watched.

“Не заставляй ее выглядеть обычной шлюхой…,” he muttered to her and she gave the man a glare, “Simple! Simple is best for Волчица.”

“Tch, won’t cover the fact that she’s still a beast…,”she muttered while giving Ylva a natural look with make-up. Demyan gave her a look, eye piercing through the woman as his Nen flare to put her in her place.

“You have such a mouth on you; you really should learn to think before you speak,” he had a smile on his face, but it was obvious that he didn’t have time to deal with her bitching, “hurry; we do not want to be late.”

“Fine.”

The older man went to the wolf majyuu’s side and gently cupped her face. The light in Ylva’s eyes had vanished, leaving behind dulled pools of turquoise. They met the familiar blue eyes and she couldn’t help but smile to him after everything he’d put her through. Demyan used everything in his power to utterly have her; torture, manipulation, sleep deprivation, starvation. The money she brought in was astounding. She was his golden goose and he wanted to get the most bids for her this evening.

“My Волчица, be a good girl and show them how much you want to please them, to sing to them,” he muttered as he slowly reached up and massaged her ears. He had recently found out about her singing; it was captivating and made her seem all that more exotic. Who could ever pass up the chance of “borrowing” an exotic escort that could sing like no other?

Color touched her cheeks as a sigh left her, face nuzzling into his hand. When he was kind, he was gentle to her and gave her affection that seemed to fill the hollowness in her heart and soul. Ylva grasped onto that small sliver of kindness as if it were oxygen. It made everything feel…not so bad.

“I will…I’ll sing to them and get you as much money as I can,” she muttered softly as Esfir started on Ylva’s hair.

~~~~~~~~~~
It was in the basement of the Cemetery Building where the auction was being held.
A crowded, stuffy room became their holding pin as the girls waited to be sold off in groups according to age. Ylva was set for last, having being a rarity. If anything, the girls looked scared; others looked dead inside or didn’t really care as long as they were sold. Honestly, Ylva was nervous. The wolf had only been a part of an auction once, so men could bid on having 2 days and two nights with her. This would be the longest she’s been away from her new home.
But Demyan said it would be fine; he’s even promise to have time with her as well afterwards.
It was something to look forward to when this was all done away with.
Black, polished claws shimmered a bit in the lighting of the room while the number of women dwindled around her as loud yelling and shouting rang out in one of the rooms around her. This was her life now; plenty of times she tried to leave but…something seemed to bring her back and keep her in the life she was leading. Maybe it was because she had no home to go back to, or maybe it was because she felt that this was something that awaited her all along, her place to answer for the mistakes Ylva had done in the past. There was nothing for her now, and Demyan did his best to remind her. He also reminded her that he was all she would ever have.
And she gave in and believed him wholeheartedly now.
There was nothing else to do but survive.
“Little Wolf, come,” a man said as she stood by her and offered his hand to the wolf woman. Rising, Ylva let him guide her to where she needed to be. The sound of talking and merry-making made Ylva cast her eyes to the ground. Too many bad memories decided to rise out of her past’s ashes, but the majyuu paid attention to something else instead, like the announcers voice that was starting to introduce her to the crowd.
“I know you men and women are eager to get onto the final product being auctioned off tonight!” the vice was cheery and quite talkative. A series of small retorts and agreements were called out.
“But this item is incredibly rare; a creature that blends the line of human and beast. A majyuu, and a wolf one at that!”
‘Ooooh’s and ‘Ahhh’s were given and a sudden quiet overcame the crowd as they paid attention.
“She is owned by Demyan who runs “Exotic Escorts”; this jewel is his prized possession and is well known throughout York Shin for her fine services of the carnal variety. She can be yours and yours again until the end of the York Shin auctions end on the tenth of September! She has more than just the talent of pleasuring men, for it is found that she is quite the songbird, regardless of being a wolf. Today, her vocal talent will hopefully have some of you bidding on her today!”
It was then that she was ushered onto the auction stage, the lights blinding her sensitive eyes as she did her best to adjust quickly. Blinking quickly, the majyuu walked forward, high heels clicking on the wood as she pulled the black fur stole around her and her revealing dress. The solid black dress, speckled with various rhinestones, plunged deep to show off her chest, the back of the dress almost non-existent, showed off her figure but also her scars but the pearl chains hanging from the back one in the front seemed to take away from the ugliness of her wounds.
If she was dressed in a proper evening gown, she’d look like a cinema starlette from days long past.
A microphone was poised before her, enticing her to step up and display her vocal talent to promising buyers. Taking a small breath, the wolf woman stepped closer to the mic and di her best to compose herself as she started to sing.
These days, singing was one of her only outlets, besides her heavy use of alcohol and prescription drugs.
Soft lips parted; gentle and soft, a slow melody flowed from Ylva as she closed her eyes and lost herself in the music for and long as she could:
"You sleep tonight and I…
I’ll see you soon
You dream of me — well, you might
And I — I’ll see you soon
oh, my love…
This dream you have given me
The stars above
Are nothing but dust to me
Yes, they’re nothing but dust to me…"
“Fold.” Motto sighed.
Blackjack, five-card whatever, he couldn’t get it. All the Hunter seemed to know how to do was lose. Not that he cared much. It was auction time in YorkShin and he was here in hopes of gathering more evidence. Data. Anything. So far, his leads on any terrorist groups specifically targeting Hunters were kinda weak. He decided to rent a motorbike and go to a fancy sorta place. A place where dudes might talk about their big plans. Motto’s hearing was exceptionally keen, making a tuxedo his only investment for the night. He was able to pick up the details of a single conversation in a crowded place, and even listen in on phone calls most of the time. So far, the card tables had only been a waste of Jenni but the night was young.
At first Motto thought he was imagining Ylva’s voice. Turning in his chair, the Hunter stared wide-eyed and curious at the set of doors in the far corner. As if under a spell, the raven rose and walked through the well-dressed crowd towards the familiar sound. Could it be? Was Ylva here? Was it a radio? Did Ylva sing on the radio? Was her arm ok? Her tail?
“Members only Sir.” A taller man stepped in Motto’s path as he was about to touch the doors. “With all due respect Sir, that’s not a member card.”
Motto’s honey brown eyes flickered up as he pocketed his license. Releasing a potent flash of aura, he watched the guard pale and shrink back before the doors opened. There was no mistaking it. That was Ylva. Directly at the opposite end of the room on stage was his friend and fellow Hunter, Ylva. She was stunning. Motto’s mouth hung open as he stood there staring. Everything else disappeared around him as he tried to understand what he was seeing. She was so beautiful. And sad. And beautiful. What was she singin’ about anyway? Man she sounded pretty.
Breath caught in the throats of the men that had been captivated by the melody coming from those painted lips. The corners of Ylva’s mouth upturned into a smile as she continued on, glad that she could sate them with her music. It looked like the wolf majyuu was doing just like Demyan asked, seemingly pleased with her performance from the front of the stage. Turquoise looked to blue, a glimmer of happiness shining there before dissipating into nothing as she kept singing.
Hope was lost for her as she abandoned it in her fifth month of living in York Shin. The words of Motto Brook’s name seemed to fade from her lips and slowly her parents seemed to drift in in out of her memories. Anything before her time in this “life” had seemed like a dream to her, like it never happened. Her song traveled as she closed her eyes.
“You keep a light in your eyes…
Bright as the moon.
I’m in your dreams tonight
and I — I’ll see you soon.
Oh, my love…
this world you have given me.
The moon above
is nothing but rock to me.
Yes, it’s nothing but rock to me…
When it all fades away…
and the sun begins to die;
you will keep me close
and I — and we’ll — be fine.”
Slowly, Ylva’s voiced pitched to a different tone as the key changed. Eyes fluttered opened in a flirtatious manner, as if beckoning the men and women in the room to try and dare to buy her. Selling herself was hard; self-esteem was incredibly hard to come by in this trade, especially for a majyuu. The she-wolf had to make it looked like she was a prize worth their money and time. That they would be treated to tantalizing pleasure that only she could give…
A clawed hand reached up behind her head as she undid the main braid that held her hair in a elegant updo. Waves of ebony tresses fell behind her with some of the strands of beautiful hair falling over her shoulders.
“Oh, my love…
this dream you have given me.
The stars above
are nothing but dust to me.
Yes, they’re nothing but dust to me.
Oh, they’re nothing but dust to me…”
Bowing her head to signal the end of her serenade to the crowd of potential buyers, the room erupted in applause. Ylva was startled by the reaction, but kept her head and eyes cast down to the floor as she was escorted off to the side of the stage. Two large bodyguards flanked her sides, eyes sharp as the kept an eye on her.
As the announcer came back on stage, the man wiped his sweaty brow as he gestured towards the wolf woman.
“Doesn’t her singing just elevate the natural process that sends your blood racing, your eyes flashing as such irreproachable beauty?! Ladies and Gentlemen, only you in this room have the EXCLUSIVE chance to bid on owning this lovely creature for the remainder of the York Shin auctions!!”
“The biding starts at 500,000 Jeni!”
Hands immediately shot up as bids were called out by the people in the room, even with some just merely raising their hands to increase the bidding price on the escort. 650,000 Jeni, 850,000 Jeni….the price kept excelling for her and ran up into the millions with the most recent bid being 15,000,000 Jeni for the wolf.
But the bids still kept coming.
As he continued to watch, Motto felt a strange feeling wash over him as Ylva’s tone changed. Her movements and appearance were slow and hypnotic. Along with every other man in the room, the Hunter felt his lower passions stirring as he looked on; and it took Motto a longer than it normally would have to figure out what was happening once the bidding was underway. Blinking out his stupor, the young man scowled at the son of bitch on stage. Those guys with the trucks must’ve gotten her again. If they thought they could sell her like some kinda treasure, they were wrong.
As the numbers shot up all around him, Motto realized he couldn’t afford to rescue her the easy way. He could use his phone to take out a quick loan, but the figures being hollered out were already well past his credit limit. Brows furrowed, and fists clenched. A pair of men’s dress shoes clicked along on the hardwood floor and a handsome young man came to stand in the front of the stage. A card was held high in the air, and the shouting of bids quieted into an astonished murmuring.
“A Hunter’s License!” Motto’s aura was pulsing. He didn’t care if one of two of the armed guards had cocked their weapons. He’d fight ‘em all dammit. The crowd fell silent and watched as the messy-haired young gentleman turned and climbed up to hand his payment to the auctioneer. Glaring at the announcer, Motto slammed his license onto the podium and waited.
“S-sold.” The man’s less than charismatic voice echoed in the stunned hall. A few men in the front muttered angrily only to choke when a pair of furious eyes turned on them. Motto grabbed the microphone, and stood there furious and breathing heavily.
“You… people….are ..not…--“
“Sir? Your lady.”
Motto’s rage crumbled when Ylva came into view. Gulping, he handed the microphone back and walked back to where she was. He felt like he was in a trance, or a dream.. or .. a movie! Was it a good movie? He didn’t know.
The price had climbed up into the 20,000,000 range, that is, until someone shouted out that they were bidding a Hunter’s License for her. The hall was quiet, stilled at the voice that had called out. The aura that radiated from the other was familiar. Oh how she had forced herself to forget about him, knowing he wouldn’t come for her because she had pushed him away. Ylva had left him at the train station and headed home on her own and regretted hurting him in such a way.
Even as going far as thinking she deserved all of this that happened to her.
As if it was penance.
Maybe it was just a hallucination; Demyan had been giving her less and less food so that she could look more appealing towards today’s buyers.
No.
The scent of him, the sound of his voice…it brought back all the memories she did and didn’t want to remember. It was him and he was seeing her dressed this way and being offered to men! How humiliating; he had to be disgusted at her for being a part of something like this…
But she could show how much his presence affected her. If Demyan ever found out how she was connected to Motto Brook…
He’d kill him.
The majyuu remained in her position, telling herself that she’d just have to play like she didn’t know him until they were somewhere less open. There were too many eyes on them right now; too many people listening. Hearing them accept Motto’s offer, she was then pushed forward towards the young man that she had always called out to.
Bowing her entire body to him, she then spoke, her voice soft but with a sensual note to it.
“Thank you so much for buying me. I promise to service you well~”
They were both lead off stage as people exited the auction room. Demyan was there to greet Ylva, he hand reaching out to toy with her ears and pet her.
“You did AMAZING, my Волчица, my puppy!” he exclaimed in a boisterous manner. Looking to the young man that bought her, he then turned to Ylva again.
“You give this man ANYTHING he wants! Give him a good time that he won’t forget, my Волчица,” he said to her before kissing the top of her head. Ylva drank up the attention, leaning her head into his touch and closing her eyes. He then left before Motto could get any words out. The majyuu watched the man leave and then turned to Motto as people walked around them.
“Where to, sir~?”
Seeing Ylva shoved toward him broke the spell. She was in trouble here. This was a bad place. Whoever just pushed her was gonna have a broken hand dammit. Motto took an aggressive step forward only to stop himself and pull back in confusion. Ylva was bowing low. The raven glanced around to see who was behind him but no one was there. Why the hell was she doing that? Before he could ask, she was speaking. Thanking him. For buying her.
Sir.
She called him, “Sir”. What was going on? Her hair was so different now, and that dress showed a lot.. and nothing made any sense. Was she angry with him? Is that why she ditched him a while back? Or..maybe she didn’t know it was him because of the suit! Motto was about to tell her it was him when another man’s hands were on her. Motto flinched at the way the dude touched Ylva’s ears and scrunched his nose at the word “puppy.” WHO THE HELL WAS THIS DUDE? It was probably a truck bastard. A damn jerk about to get his stupid face punched. Motto opened his mouth to tell Demyan exactly how things were gonna go, but his words got stuck in his throat. That fucker was kissing her, and Ylva…….seemed to like it.
Posted Image
Motto twitched with restraint as he watched her close her eyes and lean into the bad guy’s affectionate gesture. Some bullshit was happening. Some serious crazy bullshit. Right? It had to be. It was all too weird and gross and dark to be true. He’d come to this place looking for bad guys, but instead Motto had found the devil himself.
“Where to, Sir?”
Motto found it difficult to look at those eyes. She was changed. Not just her looks, but her way. Ylva was acting way different. Maybe he didn’t really know her like he thought? No. No way. He was pretty sure he knew Ylva well enough to know that THIS wasn’t her. He didn’t know where to look, and it was the final straw. There were a fair amount of flaws Motto Brook had; his temper being one of them. Not knowing what to do usually led to irritation quickly, and his uncertainty about Ylva’s situation pushed Motto over his limit. His shoulders lifted and the raven’s face was dark as he took the mayjuu’s hand and placed it on his arm. He’d put an end to this bullshit tonight. Make sure Ylva was safe before coming back to break EVERYONE’s legs. No. He shouldn’t be thinking like that. She liked that jerk guy. Dammit why?
“Come on.” He growled, and stalked briskly out of the disgusting pit. What was this shitty feeling? Was it anger? Why didn’t he just take the whole place down then and there? What was stopping him? Was he embarrassed? Jealous? It was too hard to figure out, and it all happened pretty fast. All Motto knew was that Ylva was in trouble, and he was just gonna focus on that. Even if she kept callin’ him “Sir”.
His bike arrived at the glamorous front entrance just as the well-dressed man left with his newly acquired lady. Without a word, Motto led Ylva to his rented ride and guided her to sit sideways before straddling his seat. With one arm holding her close to himself, the Hunter sped away as more than one bystander looked on uneasily. The ride to his humble lodging in the city’s business district was short. After parking, Motto cut the engine and sat there.
“What. Is…going. On?” His head was down, and Motto’s hands rested on his legs.
Demyan leaned against the door frame as he watched to two leave. A serious expression was on his face as he looked to the young man that had bought his prime property for him until the tenth. He seemed like trouble, being a Hunter and all. That majyuu used to be a Hunter as well, but now she was just a toy that pleased others. Hopefully, he wouldn’t try to steal her away.
He couldn’t have his highest money getting away from him now, could he?
~~~~~
Surreal.

That was the only word that came to her mind as she was led away by Motto. A sense of anger seemed to radiate from him, but Ylva did her best to ignore it. Walking out, they caught the attention of people around them, even some of the men whistled and cat-called her even though she was in Motto’s presence. The wolf acknowledged them, giving a wink here and there as she waved to them with her good hand.

Silence was given to her as the other’s motorcycle was pulled up. Given guidance to sit side ways while holding a purse close to her chest as he drove off with her, Ylva sighed softly. The feeling of his arm around her made her remember back to the greenhouse.
…How long had it been since then…?

To her, it felt like she had spent years in this city. Desperately, Ylva want to just stay in his arms, but she wasn’t out of the clear yet. It wouldn’t be safe to talk to Motto until they were inside wherever he was taking her. They stopped at an apartment building within the business district. Not good; she knew some business men that had told her that they worked in this area but hopefully they were at the auctions tonight.

It was when Motto spoke that the she-wolf stiffened at his words. He was obviously confused from everything he saw tonight; it was probably a lot to take in for someone who was knew at all this. Blinking slowly, she looked up to him slowly.
“Sir? Are you okay-“

Those eyes.

No.

She was so weak against those eyes.

It was too much for her; nausea overcame her as she rushed to leave the bike. The wolf got sick, doing her best to pull her hair away so it didn’t get dirty. The shock of him being here, that he bought her…she needed her pills. Scrambling to open her purse, Ylva practically ripped open the bottle and took three pills. They’d kick in soon; thinking on this, she then wiped her mouth on the back of her hand and looked to him, doing her best to put on the best façade that she could.

“ I apologize for getting sick. I-It was probably the motion of the bike. I haven't...been on those before. We should probably head inside now, right sir?”
The majyuu walked back to the bike and stood obediently by it as she waited for Motto.
For some reason, it…somewhat made her nervous that things weren’t going like they usually did with her clients. Was…he going to touch her like they did or…do something like he did back at the hospital?

Oh, she remembered that, especially when Demyan used his men to…train her. She had commented on something they had made her do, which was similar to what Motto had done back at the hospital, but only with a different…body part. They explained what it was and….that was when more of her world crumbled around her. He had used her and she only remembered bits and pieces of it. It seemed like everyone around wanted to use a majyuu like her to fulfill their desires.

Motto had been the exception before she knew the truth.

Now, he had her again and she wasn’t sure if…she could handle being used by him a second time.

“Sir? Shall we go inside?”

Sir.

Motto’s head snapped up at the word, a flash of anger and confusion on his features. A little hurt.

“Ylva, why are you calling—“

She was up and moving away. As Ylva stopped to wretch, Motto dismounted and rushed over.

“What’s wrong? What did they do to you?” Three pills appeared briefly and the Hunter watched the she-wolf with apprehension. Ylva wasn’t well. She was sick, and changed, and in trouble. It was breaking his heart. They got her and hurt her, those bastards.

“Ylva…” Motto’s tone was full of concern.

A light breeze caused her hair to flutter, and it occurred to him that she might be better off inside. Putting an arm around her bare shoulders, Motto led Ylva to the door and ignored several looks on the way to his loft. Shutting the door, he turned to his friend.

“I don’t know what’s going on…” His aura churned with fury, “but tell me who did this.”

So she was acting weird, fine. It sucked, but whatever. Motto unbuttoned his tuxedo jacket and held it out to her.

Posted Image

“Here. Are ya cold?” He kept glancing at her boobs on accident. Hard not to with that dress. Crossing the room, Motto grabbed a glass off the desk and stared down at it. “How about some water? Are you hungry?” The bizarre circumstances were messing with him. Motto’s grip on the glass tightened as he stood there trying to contain himself.

The depth of those eyes showed hurt, anger, and confusion.

She felt like she was going to be sick again for giving him pain again.

It was when he called her name that she almost lost it. It…had been so many months since anyone had used her actual name with her; usually ii was used when she was in trouble with Demyan. She cowered a little at hearing her name, but remembered that it was Motto calling her and not Demyan.

Who was to say, though, that something bad wasn’t going to come afterwards?

Nothing came, though; an arm being placed around her shoulders while ushering her inside was the only thing that followed. Looks were given from the other residents there; sneers, sly smiles. In an instant they were inside.

Motto’s aura swirled around him in pure anger, causing the wolf majyuu to press herself against the wall. Even slight raises in people’s Nen affected her due to being in constant Zetsu. It seemed to subside as he offered her his tuxedo jacket for warmth. A delicate hand reached out to take it, noticeably thinner than when they parted ways. Placing it around her while being careful of her injured arm, it practically acted like a blanket for her.
The offer of water and food sounded nice, and her stomach loudly responded but she shook her head.

“W-Water is fine…Motto.”

The name slipped from her lips. It had fallen from those same lips every time things got hard or she was with particularly rough men. It helped to think of the kindness he’d given her and it made everything that much more bearable.

That is, until she stopped calling for him and fully let herself go into this life she was living.
It was silent for a while but Ylva ended up speaking.

“…You’re…really here, right? You’re not something that I just made up to comfort myself…right? If…you’re real…why are you here Motto? You shouldn’t have bought me. You shouldn’t be here you should be away from all this…”

The majyuu woman started to pace out of anxiety, as if she was a caged animal that had been kept inside too long as she kept stuttering.

“They’ll find out who you are and and they’ll come and they’ll kill you and then they’ll kill me or or worse…they’ll put me in that room again…I-I DON’T WANT TO GO IN THAT ROOM AGAIN!”

Her breathing verged on the line of hyperventilation. The pills weren’t kicking in like they should’ve. Why weren’t they working?

As Ylva started to question him, Motto found himself listening in two ways; to what she was sayin’ and … to what she was SAYIN’. She thought he was some kinda imagined comfort? She needed comfort. He shouldn’t be here. They’ll kill him. She was afraid, they were dangerous. The room. It was real bad, something happened there already.

“Woah. Ylva! Woah.. easy..” Motto stopped the frantic she-wolf and held her by the shoulders. “Hey..” Cocking his head down a little to see if she’d look at him, Motto did his best to calm Ylva. “It’s really me. Motto. What’s goin’ on?” He felt sorry for her. She’d been through some kinda hell by the looks of it.

Posted Image

Pity overtook the Hunter and Motto pulled Yvla into a hug and stood there holding her for a long time. He thought about the girls they’d both rescued and the cages they were in. Did they keep Ylva in a cage? She looked sickly and weak..her aura was withdrawn for some reason, and Ylva was acting weird. Guilt started to prick at Motto as he tried to understand how so much terrible stuff seemed to find Ylva and hurt her. He’d hurt her too. What the hell was wrong with the world? It needed to leave his wolf friend alone dammit. She was a Hunter for cryin’ out loud.. it wasn’t right!

“Whatever’s going on Ylva… you’re safe now. No one’s gonna hurt you anymore, ok? No one. Don’t worry. I’m here and everything’s gonna be ok.”

He’d find those sons of bitches and make it so they never walked or talked again.
