The pisser was a tough negotiator, especially with a gun in his hand. With the gun still in sight, Flame could hardly put together a coherent thought regarding Nen; a proper explanation would require being able to move more than his lips and vocal cords. However, as stated already, the smoker is a tough negotiator with a gun in hand. Not only the gun though, but the pissing dude's overall outlook on people was murderous.

Does this fucker kill anyone he talks to and doesn't consider useful!? I shouldn't teach something like that Nen! After I teach him, he'll probably kill me anyway! Wait, maybe he's...

"Phahaha! You almost had me there; ya don't seem like the kinda dude to kill another dude just for bein' useless. That would mean ya kill everyone ya meet!"

Flame kept the rest of his body still as he spoke about the pisser's laughably broad statement. Discard anyone not useful? Too broad to be true, but perhaps the smoker wasn't lying completely. Then again, finding another Nen practitioner would be extremely difficult to begin with, and the smoker probably knew it. The supposed bluff failed to scare Flame more than he already was, but that doesn't mean he isn't still afraid of the pointed gun. Flame continued to speak while concentrating aura towards the area the gun is being pointed, aka Flame's head, just in case.

"Now then, I'll try n' explain Nen with just words. Your gonna have to keep an open mind, aight? Aight, so Nen is the practice of controllin' ya life force, aka aura. Aura dwells in all livin' things and escapes like steam. With enough trainin', ya can do various things like creating feathers or castanets like I did by manifestin' aura. If ya ever seen somethin' that can't be explain by science or practical tricks, then Nen must be behind that somethin'."

The man's first statement was baffling. Perhaps it was an attempt at humor, perhaps it was sheer stupidity, either way he wasn't amused anymore. He also doubted Oursa. Still smoking, the bounty hunter kept his mouth shut for now. The man had begun his explanation of nen, and Oursa saw no reason to interrupt due to pride.

As he delved into the intricate practices of nen, Oursa was dumbfounded. This is the type of energy he'd of since childhood, though completely through folklore and legend. Those who actually believed in it were ridiculed. Oursa himself didn't believe he was actually listening to this.

He released the pulled hammer on his revolver, and rested it on his lap. He kept one hand on the revolver, thumb on hammer, as he continued puffing what was left of his cigar.

"Continue."

The smoking man seemed to relax a little after Flame attempted to explain the practice of Nen. Flame's explanation made enough sense to Flame, but that's because Flame is Flame; no telling how bizarre Nen sounds to an outsider. After all, Nen was one of the first mechanics of the human world Flame was introduced to do when he was hatched a chimera ant with the DNA of a human and flamingo. Though, considering Flame's size, perhaps multiples of each went into his creation. Anyway, Flame felt he could relax a little, too, but the only way to continue properly explaining Nen would be to open the pisser's aura nodes. Therefore the next step to at least orally explaining Nen to a tense gun totter would be to introduce aura nodes as best as possible. Granted, even though Flame felt he could relax, he didn't change his hands-in-the-air pose; the gun was still pointed in the flamingo chimera ant's direction.

"Hrn...well, aura naturally flows from the body of every livin' bein'. If somethin' is alive, it has aura. However, ya can't just use Nen unless you're some sorta genius. Ya have to either practice openin' 'n closin' what's called your aura nodes or get your nodes forced open by another Nen user, which can be admittedly tricky 'n therefore deadly. Aura nodes are where aura comes from but only opened nodes work with Nen. Mine were forced open by an aura imbued punch to the gut."

Fuck, Nen sounds weird as hell. I was just unceremoniously punched and given a lightnin' quick explanation before I left the colony. Just made sense to me at the time, probably cause I was a newborn ant. Hrn, figures I'd end up in a mess like this. As the human's say, Murphy's Law.

Flame's explanation continued to be long and probably garble to the pisser, but perhaps the smoker was more open minded than Flame anticipated. The gun was in a more relaxed position, as if the pisser was ready for some crazy story about Nen. However, punching the pisser in the gut with an aura imbued punch, as already explained, could kill him. Flame was lucky to be born a chimera ant with a tough enough exoskeleton. A human, on the other hand, is a squishy bag of water.

"That's the best I can do with words. The rest is practical. I don't know how a human would be able to practice openin' 'n closin' their aura nodes since my nodes were forced open, so you'll either have to let that explanation be, find someone else to teach ya, or let me punch ya in the gut with a fist filled with my aura. What'll it be?"

Fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck! He's gonna shoot me. His face says it all! I just hope he tries to shoot me where I concentrated all my aura, my face. With my aura and exoskeleton as a cushion, I oughta be able to survive with a scratch or dent to my natural armor...hrn, my beautiful face...better than dyin' though.

The man's explanation, albeit wild, didn't sound like something someone could make up. The hard part was believing the powers, like those feathers from earlier. How to obtain the powers made sense to Oursa, as did the origin of Nen.

Flicking the roach of his cigar to the ground, Oursa spoke.

"So you mean to tell me that if someone punches me with this Nen, I can summon feathers? I don't know if it's just me, but those two seems to be completely unconnected. Oh well, why wouldn't I believe some beast-man?"

Using his free hand, he lifted his hat, and scratched his head. He was curious to hear more about Nen, but he also wanted to fuck with him.

He cocked his revolver once more. Holding it at his hip and aiming it at the man, he put his left hand across his lap, over the hammer.

"Have you ever heard of a technique called "fanning?" I'd guess not regarding your kind isn't known to take liking to guns. Anyway, it's a way single-action revolvers, such as my own, can fire rapidly. Of course it all depends on the speed of the wielder, but I assure you I'm quite quick. I'm not going to tell you how fast I can fire all six of these, I'll leave that up to your imagination. You're probably wondering why I'm doing this. Your explanation of Nen led me to believe that in order to manifest it, you need to channel it. Kinda like when a building directs power to a specific room. You explained how difficult it was to open your nodes, and how deadly it can be. Surely that must mean that you would have to focus a decent bit of Nen into your fist in order to transfer that power into me, like any transferring of energy. I don't know if my science is making any sense to you, but this how I see it. On one hand, I'm right, which means you will do as I ask. On the other, I'm wrong, and you can hit me with that fist and I'll die. However, can Nen block bullets? If so, how many will I shoot before you hit me? Can it block that many? It doesn't matter. You don't even need to answer. I'm a gambling man, and I'm willing to bet I'm right. So, don't even speak. You punch me, and I obtain this power you speak of. Or, try to kill me... try being the key word."

His face turned stern as he paused before finishing his speech. He was willing to bet his life for a chance at this insane power.

Flame was pretty bewildered by the pisser's response; allow himself to be punched by a stranger knowing he might die in the process. A very odd human Flame has met, but perhaps that must mean the flamingo chimera ant described Nen well enough to more than just entice the smoker. An exoctic power such as Nen is indeed amazing, but worth dying for? Depends on the individual. However, Flame wasn't simply given permission to punch the gun-wielder.

Fucking' WHAT!? If I knew I was gonna get shot at no matter what- well, I was able to focus my Nen into my face due to the long explanation I gave. Still, this fucker thinks he can just walk all over me cause he's got a gun and some skill!? Careful whatcha wish for, bud.

As the pisser demanded, Flame didn't speak in return, only snarling and staring down the smoker through his sunglasses. Flame's eyes started twitching with anger at the outcome of this situation, not to mention the state of his snarl. Things just weren't going well tonight and Flame couldn't understand why. The flamingo chimera ant thought he was oozing with charisma which he why he was born tall and naturally flamboyant in appearance, but this gun totter was changing Flame's opinion of himself. Anyway, apparently Flame was now supposed to try and punch the pisser and either take all the bullets to his face and see if six shots are enough to down the chimera ant or dodge said bullets. Punching the smoker was the only constant in this problem and Flame couldn't be happier to be given 'permission', so to speak.

With no further delay, with his hands still up in the air, Flame conjured both of his signature castanets; the Castanet of Feathers in the right hand, the Castanet of Control in the other. To be honest, Flame hoped that 'fanning' didn't mean include firing at different locations of the body because Flame was using nearly all of his aura in his face. Anyway, upon conjuring the castanets, Flame didn't hesitate to start rhythmically clapping in order to activate the abilities of both items; a bundle of 100 feathers was conjure right in the pisser's face and held in mid air using manipulation. Flame really wanted to cut the pisser's throat with the Shuu surrounding the feathers, but a punch would feel better.

While the conjuration and subsequent manipulation of the feathers took place, Flame lowered himself to the ground in an attempt to rush in head first since his head held the aura not being used to create and manipulate the feathers. Not all of the flamingo chimera ant's aura would be used for the defense of his face, but considering the quantity of Flame's aura, maybe there wouldn't be a problem? Anyway, hopefully the feathers in the pisser's face would blind to give enough time for Flame to close in and deliver an aura imbued headbutt to the gut of the pisser. However, Flame could see the situation play out in his head and didn't like the outcome.

All I'm doin' is blindin' the pisser with feathers 'n rushin' straight in, literally head first. Feels too simple to succeed. Besides, maybe he already shot me 'n I don't even know it...hrn...I might be dead right now 'n just stuck in a loop, repeatin' this situation over 'n over again until I realize I'm in purgatory. Life is cruel, so I wouldn't be surprised if that was the case. Fuck.

At Oursa's request, the man did not speak. However, that was the only part of his request that he complied to. The man did not outright react to Oursa's ultimatum. He did not punch, or at least it didn't appear to be so at first.

The flamingo man performed more of his magic, or Nen rather, and summoned two wooden castanets. One in each hand, began clapping them. This immediately alerted Oursa, who raised the resting revolver on his lap upright. He closed his left eye, and widened his right.

'Deadeye...'

After that came the feathers. This wasn't like the first time, there was so many feathers. Perhaps even a hundred. They circled Oursa, almost completely enveloping his vision. His silver eye glanced quickly through any gap in the feathers he could find. The tall man, thinking he could be slick, fell low to the ground after the smokescreen appeared. His height, coupled by Oursa's much faster reflexes, allowed him to see a shade fall behind the feathers. Oursa prepared for an attack from below, tensing up, ready to defend. It came straight towards his chest. The man's... head? Oursa could barely believe it. His gun, already facing forwards, was tilted slightly upwards.

The bounty hunter would try to jab the barrel of the gun straight towards the man's throat. It would hurt like a bitch, and probably incapacitate him, but it wouldn't kill him. If it worked, he'd use his strength to force the man's head up, holding the barrel under his chin.

Flame's plan of action was pretty solid all around; a feathery smokescreen against a gun. However, Flame couldn't do much better given his enemy being a high caliber gunslinger. Given his momentum, even if Flame could see the pisser shove his gun forward, Flame wouldn't be able to change his direction. Anyway, that's what would happen if Flame could even react to the smoker's gun jab.

Flame's head was being used as a weapon due to the aura imbued into his face, so Flame's focus was elsewhere altogether. Using Nen like that was tough for Flame due to his inexperience, so changing where his aura was focused was next to impossible in this situation. Flame simply had to take the gun's barrel to his throat and hope his exoskeleton could cushion the concentrated blow. If only Flame hadn't lost his cool against the man who pissed on the flamingo chimera ant's camp. Whether the pissing was on purpose of not, Flame Ingot could have handled the situation better.

With the barrel of the gun holding Flame's semi-limp body up by his chin, the flamingo chimera ant could do nothing but continue to bargain for his life. The castanets and feathers disappeared, leaving Flame all alone in his struggle for survival. However, Flame still found the pisser's resolve not to shoot strange considering everything that's come out of the piss pot's mouth.

Hrn, that reminds me, I need to check Readitt if I survive this shit show. But damn, this guy's fuckin' strong. I can't even speak cause of his fuckin' gun jab.

All Flame could do was keep his body from going completely limp in order to keep himself from suffocating from the pressure of the pisser's gun's barrel. Confusion and defeat altered Flame's usual snarl of disapproval; defeat for obvious reasons but confusion for those same reasons.

Why the fuck didn't he try and show off that fuckin' fannin' shit he was braggin' about earlier? Fuckin' piss pot fuckin' fuckin' with me. Look at me...fuckin' cursin' up a storm in my head, even in defeat. Fuck me, I need to come up with original words in the future...if I live to see tomorrow.

I would call this very incomplete because it ended right in the middle of combat and at a pivotal moment. It also seemed like it would have gone on a bit longer, so -40% reward.

--IC Notes-- Not much here. They were about to fight in the middle of a park where families would be during the day but that's not the case here. Flame and Oursa might be developing issues with each other but it's incomplete so they could have made up like BROS! eventually. We will never know. Just keep in mind there is an effect on their overall relationship finished or not.
I enjoyed reading about how Flame started so sure of himself and then eventually realized that the situation was not exactly ideal later. This is honest to goodness character development if only a small aspect of it. It was a bit odd for me to read Oursa and Flame butting heads because they were both so unnaturally confident and calm and I understand it's a part of their personalities but also recognize that it did come across as a small amount 'he's the main character, he can do whatever he wants.' Of course, this was alleviated by Flame's fear that showed up a few times. His uploading Oursa to Readitt immediately after slighting him and not knowing if he'd attack was funny but also rather reckless. This is a bit of opinion though so take it with a grain of salt. His explanation of nen was interesting and realistic as well especially in his only being able to logically explain to a certain extent.

Oursa plays well as a badass cowboy type, that much is sure. I liked how the cigar was so central to his theme, it gave us a small bit of character development. Nice touch. Keep in mind though, Oursa shouldn't immediately know he's stronger than Flame based on stats. There was a small potion where he said he was stronger without much more than a thought. Oursa, like Flame, had a few moments where it was odd to read due to just how calm and collected he was given the situation. The speed with with he accepted nen and seeing a giant flamingo were as well but there was explanation which I appreciate. The 'he's the main character, he can do whatever he wants.' trope is very difficult to get away from though, I know that. I just wanted to mention it being there. Oursa's sudden reaction to nen being mentioned was good, it was a nice touch as a crack in his super calm demeanor. It was well placed.
