“Mother in Heaven, please protect us.” Jake muttered heavenward as she took her first step for the mission. She was not at all sure how this will play out. Assessing Adom and Feles, they do not at all look like combatants. Heck, they probably won’t be able to defend themselves if attacked. This called for a certain delicacy in the operations. They’ll need to go the stealth method. Jake sighed at this. Stealth was not her strong points. She preferred to go the most direct way possible, to strongarm her way into the fortress with a good strong partner and take the thing for themselves. But strong is the last thing Adom was. That is why she opted to do some surveillance on the location first. But before that, they must be able to infiltrate this forest and be able to set up a base of operations at the site she mentioned to Adom earlier. Of her many years experience as a hired hand, this was the first time she really felt fear and uncertainty. But she made sure not to show that to Adom. Alerting him to such a weakness would just heighten his own fear which will domino into undesirable events. These, Jake needed to minimize at all costs.

“Is it safe to assume that you have no knowledge of any kind of stealth techniques? Zetsu maybe?” Jake asked the young man.

She then tossed him her phone with the map. “You’re going to stick out like a beacon if the other side has any nen users. Be the navigator. I’ll need both hands free in-case we’re attacked.” Here she took out both her bolos and signaled with a nod of her head that they press on.

Step after Step, Adom followed the red headed woman as she walked throughout the forest. Felecia was directly behind the two doing what Adom told her to do, pay attention to their surroundings with her heightened feline senses. Adom was tired as can be, even though the group just started their hike he began to slouch over as he took a step with his right then with his left. He continued to hunch over with every step, the only motivation he had to keep on going rather than fall over was the mature red headed women before him and the pink haired cat girl behind him. What would they think of him if the only male in the group was to just give up, he couldn’t have them thinking ill of him. Not only was he tired, but the idea of the chance of running into hostile people frightened him. He pushed on heavily breathing in through his nose then out through his mouth, trying to shake the scary thought out of his head.
Ahead of him Jake was walking, navigating with a map on her phone and paying deep attention to her surroundings, she looked very professional through his eyes. He then turned to Felecia, she was behind the group also paying deep attention to their surroundings, she appeared to be unphased by the idea of being attacked. “Jake and Felecia are perfectly fine, why am I such a loser! I gotta be cool. Be cool. Be cool.” He repeated the mantra in his head, whilst slouching and appearing what he was trying not to be, a loser. So when Jake gave Adom the job of navigator he was filled with confidence that could have pushed him to do just about anything without second thought, maybe. Ignoring the fact that she gave him the job in order to have her hands free to defend against attacks that could occur due to his lack of stealth abilities, Adom felt as if she was telling him that she had trust in him, like he did for her and Felecia. He couldn’t have helped but push onward, despite being physically exhausted.

The group got closer and closer to their destination, a hilltop that was luckily positioned in a way to overlook Ecto’s hideout. They were lucky enough to get far without being noticed or facing any major obstacles. Was there safe trip thus far because of Adom’s navigation, was it Felecia’s constant attention to the surroundings, or was it because Jake looked absolutely terrifying weilding to curved swords ready to kill someone? The answer didn’t really matter to Adom, all that was important was that the group was almost there which in turn meant a break from walking through the forest.
The hilltop was just five more minutes worth of walking away, until Felecia grabbed onto Adom’s arm. “I-I think there's something over there…” She pointed towards the hilltop they were heading to. “I can smell some animals, like some d-d-dogs…” She shivered a bit when she mentioned dogs, tightening her hold onto Adom’s arm. “Dogs…? Just dogs…? This far into the woods…?” Adom, physically exhausted, let out a deep breath after every sentence. “I don’t know… they smell like d-dogs, but different…” The cat girls human nose wiggled, quickly inhaling and exhaling, trying to assess the dog like smell again. Her ears began to twitch furiously, she could hear a faint chorus of howls which seconds later was followed by the patter of footsteps, a lot of footsteps. “A-A-Adom, the d-dogs howled and now they’re coming!” In fear she held onto Adom’s body rather than his arm, burying her face into his shirt. “C-coming…?!” Adom wrapped his arms around the nervous cat girl, he quickly turned to Jake just as worried as Felecia was. “M-m-ms. Jake…! What do we do…?” Just after his question was asked five wolves appeared before the group of three. One stood ahead of the other four, it appeared to be bigger than the rest and have a darker fur coat. Other than the big wolf the others were the size of normal dogs, 20 inches tall at the shoulder, 30 inches in length, and around 80 pounds. The big wolf was about 30 inches tall, 45 inches in length, and 110 pounds. One could have inferred it to be the leader of the pack of wolves.

“Stand tall” Jake commanded, raising both her arms in the air to make herself appear larger. “Don’t show your fear. Let’s back away slowly. Tell your cat girl not to hide behind you.” And she proceeded to put one foot behind her, then the other, backing away slowly. With all her travelling experience, she was no stranger to wolf attacks. She knew for a fact that wolves were as much scared of humans as most humans were scared of them. If only she could show those wolves that they were no easy target, they might change their mind about their intended meal.

However, the wolves still growled at them, the lead taking one step closer for every step they take backward. “Stop. Stand closer to me.” She called hoping that the move would discourage the wolves from attacking. This pack, however, didn’t seem like any normal pack of wolves. Most wolves would have backed away for some easier prey by now but these were standing their ground, adamant to make them their meal.

Then Jake did what her instinct told her to do. She changed her form to that of the initial stance of her art and fixed gyo unto her eyes, training them on the lead wolf. Unlike the rest of the pack, there was the glow of aura around the lead and a trail leading from it to something hiding behind some bushes.

“So we got ourselves a manipulator. Come out of there you coward. I’ve never liked your sort, making others fight your battles for you.” Jake called, all the while not losing sight of the imminent danger in front of them.

Then a burly bearded man walked out of the shadows of the trees. “And I see we got ourselves some trespassers."

“Shit!" Jake was hoping it was just her imagination but now that they’ve been found, she must make sure that the man does not call HQ for backup.

“Adom, listen." She spoke loud enough for only her companion to hear. "We need to make sure that he doesn’t call for help. Can you get Feles to pounce on him if he tries anything? I’ll take care of the wolves.” And with that, she readied herself for the eventual attack.
