Seeing the men practically crumple to their feet gave her a feeling that she couldn’t quite place. It bordered along the lines of elation that seemed to be burn in her chest. A smirk found its way onto her face as she walked, her footsteps echoing on the metal as she made her way to get Motto. If he fell over the railing due to her Hatsu, it wouldn’t end well. Ylva ignored the other man that was with them on the railing. The distortions would only get worse for them because she was sure that they did not know Nen.

‘Humans truly are more like animals when they’re frightened and faced with their own fears,’ she thought as she looked to the man, her expression blank. Ylva would’ve usually felt remorse but…there was not feeling there for these men.

Nothing.

Kneeling next to Motto, the mayjuu hoped that he could hear her through her own Hatsu.

“I’ll keep you and the women safe…I promise,” she said to him before pulling him up. He looked so pained, and his eyes were still somewhat glazed and unfocused. It only helped to fuel her from sealing off her feeling from caring for those terrible people. She’d make sure to heal him as best as she could afterwards. Placing one of his arms over her shoulder, the Hunter used her other arm to prop him up as she lugged him to the metal lift. It took a minute to figure out how to work it, but the wolf managed to get it going and took it down to the first floor. The women had to be somewhere around on this floor and Ylva was determined to find them.

She promised him.

Turquoise eyes scanned the area, her eyes taking in the sight of the wounded men and the broken window, glad that they wouldn’t be coming after them for some time. If the women were located in a different room, hopefully her Nen hadn’t affected them too much. They didn’t deserve to suffer such terrible things; they were suffering enough as it was. Keeping Motto with her, the hunter checked the rooms, and, sadly nothing suggested that there had been anyone held in this warehouse. It was incredibly disheartening but she kept on.

‘They have to be here…they just have to be,’ she thought, her mind racing with scenarios with the women being nowhere, or possibly all sold to some strange and terrible people. No; she would not stop until every place was looked at and examined.

Motto’s stronger form lifted him up to lean heavily on itself with an arm slung over its shoulder.

“Come with me.” Dark Motto said. “I’m going to show you.”

Dazed and frightened, the Hunter couldn’t bring himself to speak as he was carried to a small elevator and descended to the ground floor. Motto stared at his overly developed image, his hair flowing upwards from the sheer magnitude of the monstrous aura. Amber eyes met his and the exaggerated image smiled at him.

“Yes, I’ve always been with you. Because I am you Motto. It’s time for you to make a new covenant. Don’t be afraid. It’s supposed to be this way.”

“I won’t.” Motto whispered hoarsely as he was dragged from room to room in the warehouse. It seemed like they were searching for something. His darker self laughed softly.

“You don’t have a choice. It’s going to happen.”

Another gun shot rang out as one of the men took his own life due to his terrifying hallucinations; bringing the total of men down to six. From where they were locked down below, the abducted women couldn’t hear Ylva’s song, or the weapons. They laid in grim silence as the machinery above droned on.

The feeling was returning to Motto’s hands and feet, his bodily control was weak but enough to start resisting.

“You’re not real.” He grunted, lifting his own feet to stagger weirdly while still leaning on his stronger, sinister self. “Shut up.”

The last room was up and it seemed like we was talking to…whatever was in his personal hell. Currently, it seemed like he was telling whatever it was to shut up, but it was in her general direction. It did seem like he was starting to get his sense about him. Hopefully, he wouldn’t try to deck her out or something; it’s happened before and it wasn’t very pleasant
.
Everything was riding on this last room. Taking a deep breath, the mayjuu opened the door with a shaky hand. What was before her eyes was only a room full of tarps and stacks of wooden pallets that were stacked in the corner. Dragging Motto inside, she gently propped him up in an unoccupied corner before closing the door. It was time to see if there was a door somewhere, maybe even hidden behind something. Ylva meticulously moved the tarps aside, checking underneath for signs of a door or entry way of some sort, but nothing was turning up. Every step she took seemed to eat away at her hope. Did they move the ladies already? Were they too late?

As she was having these thoughts, the she-wolf was moving some more of the tarps by the pallets and accidentally bumped into the stack with her hip. A sound was made, as if something had hit a door. Blinking, and ears twitching in the direction of the sound, Ylva looked to the stack. Keen eyes peered through the spaces and the vague outline of a door could be seen. If one wasn’t looking too close, they wouldn’t be able to see it at all! ‘Let’s hope it gets us somewhere,’ she thought as she started to pull the pallets away from the door, stacking them to the side and what not.

It was a while before she could open the door in a decent manner so that both she and Motto could pass through. Ready to explore where the door would take them, the Hunter went back to pick up her companion once more.

“We’re almost there, Motto,” her voice was tired but she did her best to stay positive, “we’re going to find them.” Her leg was hurting something fierce, but it was something that could wait. Her hand reached out, turning the doorknob with force. She had expected it to be locked, which it was, thus she broke the knob to force their way in. A long, dark hallway greeted them as it ended with an elevator at the end.

‘This had to be it! No way something like this wasn’t meant to keep things hidden,’ she thought. Her footsteps echoed against the floor, resounded off the walls. It was an eerie sound, due to them being the only ones in the hallway. The elevator greeted them and Ylva only noticed one direction; down. Seeing how finite that direction was caused her skin to crawl, but she pressed the button and the doors opened. Carrying Motto into the contraption, Ylva pressed the ‘Down’ button’ once inside and they made their descent.

The pace of the elevator was faster than the lift and in due time they arrived at their destination.

Motto’s dark self set him down and began moving things around once they entered a small room.

“Where are we? What are you doing?” Motto’s arms tingled, and his legs felt like jello as he sat there like a dazed ragdoll.

“Peijin of course.” The other answered, kicking aside wooden pallets to expose a hidden door. “Where it all begins and ends.”

“P-PEIJIN??” Motto repeated, his voice tight with disbelief. PLEASE NOT THAT PLACE. As the muscular, aura-laden version of himself opened the door to reveal a long dark hallway. It really was Peijin!!! The Hunter tried to move, a pathetic flopping of his arms and jerking his legs in an effort to flee. The menacing Motto picked him up again and dragged him into the dreaded corridor.

“We’re almost there Motto. It’s time for you to accept the truth.”

Motto’s feet scrambled to walk on their own as he stared at the end of the hallway. Panic was setting in. Was the monster there? She would kill him if he refused to make the covenant.

“STOP! STOP! I HATE YOU! I WON’T DO IT!” Wrestling pathetically against the other, Motto moaned as they descended lower. Shaking he glared at his distorted self.

“You’re some kind of perversion...unnatural. I’m NEVER going to lower myself like that again. I was a kid then, but I’m stronger now. UP HERE!” Motto pointed his head and looked his darker self up and down with contempt. “I’m glad you’re with me, so I can KICK YOUR ASS!”

The elevator doors slid open just as Motto did his best to backhand his evil doppelganger.

The movements of the other continued to weaken her grasp on Motto. He was starting to get fidgety and yelling quite loudly. Hearing him voice loudly that he hated someone. Of course she knew that it wasn’t directed at her, but it still felt very odd to be yelled at like that. He continued to struggle and Ylva continued to hold him so he couldn’t hurt himself.

“M-Motto calm down…p-please!” she said loudly, hoping her voice would get through to him, “y-you’re going to hurt yourself.” It wasn’t until he said that something about being a perversion, and ‘unnatural’ that she stopped. For some reason those words seemed to hurt her a lot. She had always thought very little of herself, thinking that she wasn’t meant for a lot because of what she was. Those thoughts were pushed way down, so they wouldn’t have to bubble to the surface, but what Motto had said towards her made her freeze up and her breath catch in her throat.

It was almost like she could hear the words those villagers had said to her on that day.

Preoccupied with the thoughts flooding her mind, she didn't register Motto's actions as the elevator doors opened. Unprepared for the instantaneous of this actions, he managed to strike her across her head, hitting her injury.

“Ngghh!!” she grunted, the sound of the hit echoing around her. It caused the mayjuu to fall to the floor of the elevator as the doors opened to where the women were held. The throbbing that came from her head injury, which had been previously quelled, was now back with full force.

Ylva hadn’t expected there to be such force, especially since he was still under the influence of her Hatsu. Her vision was a bit blurred from the hit and it seemed like her surroundings were spiraling.
-----
The women that were held captive underneath the warehouse could hear the commotion of the elevator descending. That noise only meant trouble, and the women with the most seniority were doing their best to help calm the younger and newer ones so they wouldn’t get shocked by the collars on their neck. Also, if they weren’t quiet, they’d get punished severely. The women were housed in large wire caging that was usually used for housing dogs outside. They were lined up all together in rows. The sniffling and stifled cries ceased as soon as the doors to the elevators opening but only increased instinctively when the sound of the someone being struck was audible. The women closest to the elevator witnessed Motto striking what appeared to be a young woman and were shocked.

Only witnessing the action that took place and not the context behind it, the women closest to the elevator started to pound on the wiring of the cages. They hoped to get the young man distracted and away from the young woman on the floor of the elevator.

Motto blinked and looked around in alarm. Where was he? What happened? This wasn’t Peijin. It was difficult to process the new sights and sounds around him; rows and rows of caged women, clearly afraid, a putrid smell of human waste mixed with chemical residue nearly overwhelmed him. A woman on the floor…Ylva.

She was hurt. They were all hurt. This place was foul..worse than he’d imagined. His legs were stiff, and Motto’s mind was struggling to function. With effort, he staggered to the other Hunter and lowered himself to kneel at her side. Something bad happened. He needed to help. Time felt short.

“Yl-va..are you ok?” Motto’s jaw was clenched as he spoke, his body was still unnaturally tense from the taser and it was hard to focus in the horrific setting. “I …need your help. We..gotta..get them…free.” Who injured Ylva anyway? Were they close? Glancing around, Motto only saw dozens of fearful suffering faces of imprisoned women. They looked seriously terrified.

Reaching down, the Hunter did his best to help the wolf-girl up. The onlookers assumed that she was another victim, and the man was going to subdue her. The only thing they could do was try to distract him. Banging on their cages, the prisoners started to make a tremendous noise; some of them throwing what they could at the raven.

Her surroundings kept spinning around her and it was hard to focus. All she just wanted to do was lay there and sleep, but it wouldn’t good. Not with the hit to her head like that. Closing her eyes to try and get her bearings, the sound of something or someone coming towards her made her eyes open. Quickly, she scrambled away, but focused hard enough to notice it was Motto. It looked like he was kneeling, and concerned about her. Did…he not remember that he hurt her? If not, then it was fine. If she told him what happened, they might not get out of here like they had planned.

“Ngh…I’m…I’m fine,” she muttered as she let herself be helped up by him, “y-yeah…we need to free them.”

The sound of the women banging on their cages made her wince from how loud it was. The throbbing from her head just seemed to just intensify the sounds.

“I-It’s so loud…a-are they mad?” she asked as she stood on her feet and steadied herself. As her eyes adjusted to the darkness, the wolf mayjuu could see that the women looked angry. Maybe…they thought both she and Motto were working with the men upstairs. She had to act fast or their presence might give way to someone. There was bound to be more men somewhere.

“L-Ladies! We’re here to rescue you!” she called out, hoping they could hear her over the noise, “We-We’re both Hunters and we can set you free!”

Some of the ladies stopped, wanting to listen, but others continued and things were even thrown things their way. It was probably hard for the women to hear them. Demonstration might help with getting the message to them. Looking to Motto, the wolf voiced her plan to him.

“We…need to start opening the cages; they might understand that we’re here to help them if they see us freeing the other women,” she said before making her way to the nearest cage with a bit of difficulty.

Clumsily, her hands fiddled with the padlock on the large enclosure, and inserted her claw into the keyhole. She did her best to pick the lock, but it was difficult since the wolf hadn’t done it before. Two minutes passed as the Hunter finally got the lock open. Swinging the door open, she motioned for the women to come out and wait by the elevator as she started on the next cage.

Motto watched as Ylva started to mess with one of the cages, and followed suit. The locks snapped easily in his hands and the Hunter held the door open. To his astonishment, the women inside backed away from him into a corner and huddled there.

“Don’t be afraid. I’m here to help you, ok? Let me take those off. It’ll only take a secon—“ Motto winced as woman struck him. He had come into the enclosure and was reaching to grab a collar off of a lady with wings. The big green-skinned woman glared down at the stunned man with her fist raised to punch him a second time as her winged companion trembled closeby.

“Hey! Take it easy! I’m here to help!” He reached out again and Motto was sent flying to hit the cage’s other side before landing facedown. “rrrrrRRR FINE.” Motto angrily left and began opening other cages. He stood far off while the captives timidly exited. He hated that they didn’t trust him, but decided it wasn’t worth thinking on. The big problem was making sure they got out safely and ….

“Oh Shit.” Motto realized there wasn’t really a plan on how to transport them to safety. Ylva was going to kill him…wait. “Ylva! We need to steal a truck!” Running to where to wolf-girl was, Motto touched her shoulder with urgency. “I think that we can get all of these women to the hospital if we take a truck…can you help me?” Motto wasn’t very bright, but he was pretty sure those ladies wouldn’t want to go into another big truck..especially if he had anything to do with it.

Steadily, Ylva was getting more and more cages opens and becoming more and more competent in picking the locked cages. Soon enough, the women were freed from their confined space, but there was the matter of getting the collars off. She knew Motto was strong enough to get them off but…it didn’t look like the women were favoring him right now. The she-wolf could hear it when he started to free the other women.
It was probably due to them seeing her being hit by him. She had to try and clear the air about him to the women around here.

“Ladies, please let him,” the she-wolf said to the women while she motioned to Motto, “take your collars off. He’s a very kind person…one of the kindest humans I’ve met. He actually saved me from being captured by those men upstairs. He can get the collars off of you very quickly.”

She hoped that the message would stick with the ladies, but she’d understand if they didn’t want him near them. He did strike her, but he wasn’t in his right state of mind. That and they were most likely abused by those men upstairs. They were just scared and rightfully so. It pained her to see the women so skittish, and she desperately wanted to heal the lot of them…but her previous Hatsu had taken a lot out of her and she was starting to get weary.
Feeling someone touch her shoulder and talk to her loudly with a familiar voice, Ylva couldn’t help but shrink back a bit from the other out of instinct. It was Motto and he was talking about using the trucks to get the women out of the warehouse.

Ylva gave the young man a look. It bordered on the lines of “Are you serious?” and “Why are you suggesting this?”

“Um…Motto you do know that they were taken from where they lived in those trucks, right?” she said in a soft tone, but there was a bit of a sternness to it, “I…I won’t put them back in that place; they’re already scared enough, Motto.”

He did bring up a good point though; these women needed medical help and they needed it now and they had to do something to get them to a hospital. Thinking for a little bit, and idea came to her.

“Do you think….that maybe one of the guys upstairs has a cellphone? You…could call 911 and give them the address of where we are?” she suggested as she started to try and get a collar off one young girl who was trembling. Ylva gave her a kind smile to sooth her as she started to work diligently to get the contraption off.

With caution, Motto approached a small female who looked less afraid than the others. He easily snapped her collar off and smiled out of gratitude. Several others came forward and he quickly freed them; glancing back at the other Hunter as she spoke. Cringing at her tone, Motto’s jaw tightened with frustration. Of course he knew that they wouldn’t wanna go in a truck! That’s why he asked for her help! Motto wasn’t sure how safe it was to stick around in this place..wherever the hell they were.. He hadn’t been lucid during the nightmarish Hatsu that had taken so many lives.

The raven’s hands balled up as he stood straighter; his face turning a bright shade of red. Motto gave a curt nod and stepped into the elevator with his bruised pride. The doors shut and he sighed angrily. Man he felt like punching something. Yeah he was stupid, but not that stupid. He was fully aware of the situation! Then again, maybe he wasn’t. Motto paced a little and ran a hand through his hair. Without Ylva, he’d be dead by now. Her suggestion was probably way better than any dumb ideas he had.

The elevator doors opened and Motto blinked at the hallway. He had no idea where he was, but there was only one way to go. How much time did he lose anyway? What the hell happened? An image of Motto’s darker self flashed through his mind and he turned quickly. Staring at the elevator, he remembered what he’d seen and the feelings accompanying it. It must have been Ylva’s Hatsu again. Shit. It was so intense!!!!! He looked down at his pants to see if they were dry, and proceeded into the storage room. He sank into Zetsu and relied on his senses to detect any possible bad guys. He smelled blood mostly.

Minutes later, he stepped out of the elevator and looked for the wolf girl on the lower level.

“Ylva! I made the call! They’re on their way.”
