A growl left her. Her, pretend to be weak?! The wolf would never stoop to such low-brow tactics. Ylva was always strong and she knew it. Why wouldn’t he just give him a chance? The Hunter had given him a chance when he calmed her down and got the nurse away from her, she trusted him when he took her away from the fire…why couldn’t Motto do the same for her?! “I wouldn’t be taking up your time if you JUST LET ME GO. WITH. YOU.” She yelled in frustration and that’s when she started to sing her Nen song. Taking a deep breath, her voice, infused with her Nen, flowed past her lips and into the air around her. The melody was pleasant, but not, as if there was something dreadfully wrong but one couldn’t put their finger as to what was actually wrong with the song. “You stand on the brink of your mind Living inside a nightmare from which You just cannot awaken Stand on the edge of your life Just give me another moment From which you will never awaken…” The song resounded between the alley walls, as if to enhance the sound that came from the mayjuu, which she didn’t account for. She stood as she sang, turning to the other from where she had been hiding. Snow drifted around the pair, clinging to the thick locks that hung around the mayjuu’s face. Turquoise eyes were intense, furious from his words that she should just go back to the hospital. To that place that held the least bit of a resemblance to nature. To where the staff looked at her oddly... To hell with that. Spoiler: click to toggle

![]() Motto had gone four or five paces when everything began to darken. It was no longer snowing, and he was … he was in a basement. Torchlight?? Gasping, the Hunter froze in his tracks and stared in horror at the familiar place. How did he get here? Why? Anywhere but here! ANYWHERE BUT HERE!!! His heart twisted with dread as Motto’s breath came in panicked shallow gasps. Color drained from the raven as his mind raced. He shouldn’t be here. He had something important to do. Saving..someone. Girl. Slowly, he turned to see if she was there. The Hunter’s stiff form could be seen standing in the middle of the empty city street. Now facing Ylva, Motto only saw visions of his past. A horrifying moment he had barely lived through..his own darkened rage. The desecrated body of his dear friend stared lifelessly at him, and Motto felt as if he couldn’t stop himself. It was happening all over again!! Looking down at his hands, he could see his blackened aura and the covenant unfolding again. A pained cry tore itself from within the broken man as he grabbed his wrist and watched the terror show. Himself. His most evil deep self that he feared. “No..NOOOO!!!!” Completely lost in the visions of his past, Motto’s body trembled and fell to its knees. Snow continued to grace the pained scene as he struggled to endure the hideous truth once more. It had taken Motto ten years to recover from this singular event. Ten years of putting these thoughts aside, of convincing himself he was safe! He could feel his body transforming, his clothes tearing. Tears streamed freely as Motto Brook relived the nightmare of his greatest sin. |

Ylva watched as her Hatsu took hold of Motto’s mind, eyes glaring at the other with spite. The snow blanketed the area around them as she watched his eyes cloud. He was lost in the vision the wolf had cast and she noticed that he had walked into the street. ‘Ah! I wasn’t intending him to walk out there!’ she thought and went to retrieve him from the road. As the wolf made her way towards him, a heart-wrenching cry ripped through the young man before her as he fell to his knees. The mayjuu stopped in her tracks. What she was expecting was some minor fear; spiders, snakes, losing loved ones. No. She opened a flood gate of what felt like a suppressed fear within the man before her. Even though she wasn’t experiencing the situation, she could somehow feel it from where she was. The other’s cry ripped through her heart and soul and it brought her out of the anger that had taken hold of her. With a clear head, she realized what she had done to this person. He was only looking out for her because of her injuries, trying to scare realization into her that it would be hard to face those men to capture women on the daily. He treated her kindly in at the hospital and kept her out of harm’s way. He was only trying to be nice. And now…she had done this to him. Whatever he feared was encompassing and felt like fear and sadness manifesting. But it was the tears streaming down Motto’s face that broke Ylva’s heart. She had to stop her Nen; for his sake. Usually, she’d let it run its course but she couldn’t bear to see someone who helped become permanently damaged by it. Tears started to flow from her own eyes as she reached his side and tried to jostle him out of the visions. It was hard to be near him, feeling such pain radiating from the other. Ylva had to try, anything to get him out of that hell. “M-Motto I’m sorry. I didn’t…I didn’t know it would be this terrible for you,” she told him, trying to look into his eyes to see if he was seeing her. Panic was evident in her voice as she touched his face. “J-Just listen to my voice. Wake up Motto! W-Wake up..!” What had she done to this young man...? |

As soon an Ylva’s song stopped, Motto’s hallucinations also came to an end. The transition was an ugly one for the Hunter; so blindly terrified by the dark act from his past. Suddenly he could hear his own strangled screams, and Motto felt snow on his face. Blinking, he processed the dark city street with frantic jerky movements and choked breaths as if his former evil was still there waiting to claim him again. Heart racing and pants soiled, the Hunter continued to shake and glance around fearfully. Ylva was there. It was snowing. He was in a street. He'd been having an argument? The weight of his hallucination was too heavy. Overcome with emotion, Motto dissolved into tears. Bewildered and smarting from the visions, the young man sobbed openly while a vehicle approached. A taxi. It’s headlights illuminated the strange pair in the road serving only to define the bizarre moment in more detail. A young man sitting on the ground with tears dripping from his chin and an injured wolf-woman by his side. The driver blew the horn and swerved around the pair with obvious irritation, shocking the male Hunter out of his sorrow. Motto remembered he had been waiting for a cab. The cold air and dark buildings came into focus as well as the majyuu Hunter and her bandages. He had been telling Ylva she was too weak just then. Somehow he’d been pulled into a strong memory, and now he was sitting in the middle of the street with wet pants. The sheer hypocrisy of his situation struck him as funny and Motto began to laugh. It was a genuine and relieved sort of laugh, lasting longer than it ought. He needed to feel something other than his darkness. On the brink of crying again, he balled up his fists and took several deep breaths. “I’m not sure what just happened. … but .. heh.. I.. I think it’d be cool if ya helped me out .. heh.” It was all he could do to speak without losing himself to the intense residual horror. Motto’s mind was still reeling, and he hated it. Gotta focus! Clearing his throat, he looked at Ylva with forced calm. “With this whole truck thing.” ![]() |

Tears continued to pour down the wolf-woman's face, as she held his face, trying to get him back to his sense by talking to him out of the hallucinations. His vision became unclouded, noticing the shine coming back to his eyes. Relief overcame her as her hands fell to the side. He was back. She hadn’t been too late. ‘Thank the stars above,’ she thought, as she moved away to give him some space. The other’s movements were jerky and his breathing concerning. There was fear still residing in his eyes, and she could tell that he was visibly shaken by whatever resided in his own fears. “M-Mott-,” the wolf started to call to him, but she stopped, even going as far as to clasp her hand over her mouth. He probably didn’t want to hear her voice right now. She wanted to comfort him but…she shouldn’t. The wolf had caused this to befall the other and so much guilt was starting to eat away at her. Because she had let her emotions get the best of her and acted in anger. The sound of sobbing roused her from her thought as Ylva’s eyes watched Motto sob so openly in the street. The mayjuu’s heart and soul broke for the other’s suffering. How could she be so cruel to this man…? She knew perfectly well what using her Hatsu entailed, and yet she used it anyway... Seeing him suffering in such a way…it was almost too much to bear. Her hand reached out, her heart wanting to comfort the other but knew it wasn’t her place. She lost that place once she performed her Nen. A car’s headlights blinded the mayjuu and the honking rang harshly in her ears as it veered away from the two of them. A small growl left her as she watched the car pass in disdain. Laugh made her look in Motto’s direction; it was a real laugh that seemed to be of relief. Still, she wasn’t sure what he was going to do, but what he had said next made her eyes widen with worry. He…wanted her to help him? After what she just DID to him? It didn’t make sense, but it sounded like he didn’t know what had happened to him. “M-Motto…,” she said quiet, voice muffled by the snow fall, “you know I was the one that did this…right? It was my nen…it does really…nasty and terrible things to others. Preys on their fear and renders them immobile…” “I didn’t…I-I didn’t…m-mean for t-this,” the words choked her, as her own tears flowed down her face, not daring to look the other in the eye. ‘They were right…you are a monster’ ‘You created this Nen; this is your fault’ |

The way his name was spoken made Motto cringe a little. Had she…seen? Did she know? Maybe she was afraid of him now. Wait. ![]() “……You?” his voice was nothing more than a hoarse whisper. Motto couldn’t believe it. Ylva’s nen was responsible for the nightmarish moment. She’d.. totally owned him just then. Staring at her in wonder as she started to cry, his mouth hung agape and Motto’s mind cleared. “That’s a pretty intense Hatsu.” His voice had returned, and the raven dipped his head down in order to meet her averted gaze. “I underestimated you Ylva. Please accept my apology.” Nodding, he offered a grin and his hand. He was completely wrong about the wolf-girl, she was a damned warrior. Snow had gathered on his head and shoulders but Motto didn’t notice. It was mostly important to him that she still help. “I don’t really know what to do Ylva. About finding them. Tracking ‘em down and stuff. I thought it’d be easy, but I’m not good at this detective business.” Sighing, Motto scratched his head and noted his soiled pants with mild annoyance. No big deal. They’d dry out. He hoped she’d say yes and tell him what to do. He did real good with sticking to plans.. wait a minute. No he didn’t. In any case, he needed some fresh ideas. “Please don’t cry Ylva. It’s ok.” Amber eyes dulled momentarily as he recalled the terror. The nightmares would most likely start up again, but he didn’t want to think about it. |

“…y-yeah, it was me,” she muttered before placing her face in her hands. The wolf was disgusted with herself for using the technique as she continued to cry into her hands. The words of praise did nothing to raise her spirits or quell her crying. Ylva stopped for a second, though, as she heard him apologize to her. A startled look formed on her face as she looked to this human, to Motto, who wasn’t condemning her for her Nen or wanting nothing to do with her. He even asked her to not cry. It only made the tears fall faster. “…I..I’m not…worthy of it,” she said, adverting her gaze from the other once more, “but…I-I’ll accept it...” He was too kindhearted towards her. And she’d make sure to never use that Nen in his presence. She knew that her Nen could leave lasting damage on someone that was particularly susceptible to it. And Motto seemed like he was one of those. Wiping her eyes, she nodded while listening to how he was having a difficult time trying to find a lead. It made her wonder that was the reason why she had found him in the alley in the first place. The wolf tried her best to stop her tears as she continued to listen. A thought formed in her head, but she knew they needed to get out of the street as soon as possible. “Motto...let’s get out of the street for a bit and t-talk,” her voice was shaky, but she managed to stand on her own, “I…might have an idea to where that man might have been headed.” The mayjuu outstretched her hand to the other, but then quickly retracted it. She didn’t trust herself to touch him… Her fault still weighed considerably on her mind. “..we’ll go…back to the alley,” she said softly as she waited for the other to stand so they could make their way together. |

Ylva’s difficulty accepting Motto’s apology hadn’t gone unnoticed. He made a point to try and remember that so he could convince her later on. It was easy to see the girl was gentle and good. Motto didn’t want her to fall apart because he provoked her. At Ylva’s suggestion to relocate, he nodded. The timid way she pulled her hand away elicited a sympathetic pang in the young man’s chest, and Motto stuffed his own hands into his pockets once he was on his feet. Head down, he ambled back into the alleyway and suddenly took hold of his jacket. It was cold out and maybe Ylva would…take it? Gosh maybe it’d piss her off; him thinkin’ she was weak again. His hands slipped down only to reach up again and pull his coat off with determination. Without a word, Motto put it around the other Hunter’s shoulders and stepped away before turning to face Ylva. “That collar thing. Without that, you would’ve been able to free those girls, right?” Motto eyed the bruises on Ylva’s throat. That must have been caused by the strange tool he found on them all. The bandages on her head were from where she’d banged her head, but Motto still felt uneasy. Had the collar also been responsible for her condition?? She was barely conscious when he found her…none of the others were like that. In a much tighter voice, he asked, “Did that guy do anything else?” He felt his face get hot but ignored it. He needed to know exactly what happened. Might be clues that could help find the dude’s destination, or even what to watch out for. Motto remembered the driver had a collar in his hand when they faced off. Good thing he didn’t end up in trouble too. Maybe there was more to Ylva’s story than he knew. ![]() |

Snow continued to lazily drift down onto the two Hunters as they made their way to the alley. Small little puffs of her own breath could be seen as she walked. Her steps distanced herself from the other, as if afraid that her presence alone would somehow be dangerous for the other. As least, the wolf considered herself to be dangerous. It was then that she felt something warm being draped upon her shoulders. The scent from the greenhouse still clung to the fabric and mingled with his scent that reminded her of the forests of her home. Ylva slowly looked to him; he was still so nice to her after what she had done. The mayjuu had to look away, towards her feet, or she would start crying again. Motto mentioned the collars and the Hunter looked to him. Seeing his amber eyes glance to her neck, her hand reflexively covered up the wound. In all honesty, she had forgotten that the device had choked her hard enough to leave marks. “I would’ve; easily,” she muttered, eyes dulled as she thought about possibly using her Nen in that situation, “but…my Nen would’ve harmed them as well. It…affects anyone that hears it, even if it’s muffled. It just means the affect won’t be as great.” She bit her lip, worrying it between her teeth as she thought of what would’ve happened if she had done that. Ylva wouldn’t live with herself if she harmed such innocent people in order to free them. But maybe…the means justified the end? A temporary hell instead of being forced into something that might take years to get out of? Roused out of her own thoughts by hearing Motto ask another question. Did that guy do anything else? Tilting her head to the side, the wolf wondered what he meant but tried her best to answer his question. “Hmm…no I don’t think so? It was just…I had a lot of pain where I was hit when I woke up in the truck. I tried to make a sound but the collar tightened and I struggled more until I stopped making noise. That’s…when I realized it responded to the wearer if they spoke or made a sound,” she said softly, “I think…they hit me harder than they realized.” She hesitated, stopping a bit as the wolf tried to recall something. Something she heard. “I…I think I might have heard him talk about something,” she muttered, “I woke up a little bit and…h-he talked…into something and said something about a town? I think he said 'C-Cinema' ?” Edited by LittlexWolfxHunter, Feb 7 2017, 06:55 PM.

![]() “….! Hit you?! What now?” Motto’s voice was suddenly much louder than it had been. He’d forgotten all about his soiled pants and stepped closer to her with clear concern written all over his face. “When did that happen? Who’s they? Was there more than one guy Ylva?” Looking at her closely, he instinctively began to sniff the wolf-girl for any clues. Only a faint scent of the truck was still on her, as well as the other females that had also been imprisoned. Just thinking of all those frightened ladies with the damned collars on made his blood boil. “Cinema you say? Mm.” Narrowing his eyes, Motto couldn’t remember if he saw any other marks on Ylva when she was in her hospital gown. He was still bothered by the fact that they’d hit her in addition to everything else. “Cinema Town. That’s close! TAXI!” The Hunter dove out of the alleyway and threw himself onto a passing cab’s hood. The car screeched to a halt and Motto slid off to land in the snowy street. “Cinema Town please!” The Hunter jumped up and opened the cab door. He stood there holding it for Ylva. “Come on. Let’s find those bastards.” Edited by Gon.Pro.Hunter, Feb 9 2017, 08:37 PM.
