The fur on her tail was still raised as she continued to stare down the nurse, muscles tense to avoid whatever was in the woman’s hand, but the woman stopped. Looking up, finally, the wolf-woman could see that the voice from before had belonged to a young man. He didn’t seem pleased and she lowered herself closer to the ground as her tail wrapped around her a bit, poised to strike. Her eyes watched the other, not leaving his frame until her lowered his gaze. It surprised her, to say the least. Blinking slowly, the young woman raised herself up a bit from the floor as she felt his Ten flow smoothly. He knew Nen? Then…he could be a Hunter, right? Very slowly, Ylva sat up but kept her tail close to her. The fur on her tail relaxed slightly and her ears went into a cautious position instead of conveying fear like they previously were. Something urged her to close her eyes for a bit, as she did so. It seemed like he didn’t mean her any harm at this time, especially if he was calming his aura into such a state. As he spoke to her, one of her ears twitched as she recognized the voice. It was the voice that she had heard outside the vehicle she was held in. It was also the same voice that talked to her and, she assumed, got that collar off her neck. He said that everyone was safe, that the ladies that had been held with her were now okay. Opening her eyes, turquoise looked up into amber colored ones. “…my name is Ylva,” she muttered, her voice very quiet. There was a bit of silence for a moment, but she spoke again. “Thank you…for finding them and…freeing them,” she said again in the same tone of voice, “…are you a Hunter? You controlled your aura to be calm, which is why I asked.” Her body was visibly much more relaxed now, but there was still a hint of timidity in her voice and actions. Slender hands hugged her tail to her chest, obviously finding comfort in the action, but her eyes stayed on Motto so that he knew she was listening and seeing him. “You’re welco—Hunter? Well.. yeah. Heh.” Motto ran a hand through his thick spiky hair and grinned boyishly. Being a Hunter meant everything to him, and for this girl to assume it, was super cool. “Anyone can do it really.. but yes. I’m a Hunter.” A bit of silence settled over the scene and the nurse cleared her throat. “I’ll just let you two be.” Setting down the sedative, she took up Ylva’s chart and left. Motto waited until they were alone before he spoke again. “Relax. I’ll make sure no one bothers ya from here on. You uhh.. hungry or anything?” An absurd gurgling from his own stomach caused the young man to burst out laughing. “Because I am!!” Just below his jovial exterior, the Hunter worried about what might have happened to the wolf-girl before he’d found her in that miserable truck. How the heck did she even end up there? Maybe there was a way to prevent that bullshit from ever happening again..he couldn’t do it alone. Visions of some of his recent friends unfolded in Motto’s mind; working together with the police to form a cool method of identifying and tracking down assholes like that truck driver…apprehending them, and kicking their asses. That pirate guy, Luca? He’d be a good one to call. Lubbock not so much. He’d get too distracted by the ladies probably. It suddenly occurred to him that Ylva knew about aura. “Wait. You… saw me do that?” His smiled faded into a curiosity and befuddlement. “Huh. I failed to notice yours.” Holy crap was she a genius? Was she deliberately hiding her skill from him?? Was this how badly out of practice he was? ‘Calm down Motto. She just woke up from some kind of ordeal man.’ “Well.. can ya see … THIS?!” Motto channeled his aura into a controlled stream from one hand to another…forming a tight circle with it and with great effort, he widened the distance between his palms. The Hunter’s tongue poked out of the corner of his mouth and a bead of sweat trickled down his forehead while performing his newest trick: aura juggling. A clumsy low-key attempt anyway. The tip of her tail twitched a bit as she let the other talk. So he was a Hunter, just like her. Embarrassment filled her; she was supposed to be a good Hunter and not be caught off guard by people like that. He said that anyone could use Nen, and he was right about that, but when she encountered people who could use it, they were more often Hunters. The nurse seemed to excuse herself, and Ylva immediately focused on her until she left. An audible sigh left the young woman as she leaned back against the wall. She had forgotten about the injury to the back of her head and thus applied too much pressure to the wound. “Ngh…that really hurts,” she mumbled as she moved to not rest her head against the wall. Motto then questioned her about how she was able to see his aura and that he failed to notice her own. “Well, it was more that I could feel it,” she muttered softly, “your aura flared a bit when you talked to that nurse but…it calmed down when you started to talk to me.” “You couldn’t notice…mine? It…could be because I’m not…human,” she said, that last part divulging into almost a whisper. He then asked her if she could see something and she instantly felt him using his aura. Swiftly, she shifted her own aura to use Gyo on her eyes properly to see what he was doing. It was a bit difficult to see was he was trying to accomplish, but the actions reminded her of juggling, in a sense. “Are…you trying to juggle your aura?” she asked, a small, tired chuckle leaving her, “I’ve never really…seen anyone do that before. It’s pretty neat.” Ylva wanted to be a bit more energetic but for some reason she was feeling a bit fatigued. “Mm..you said something about being hungry earlier, right?” the she-wolf asked, “we can eat something; where do we get food? And…what exactly is this place, if you don’t mind me asking?” |

“……………………” Motto stared stupidly at the girl for a full seven seconds while he processed the things she said; his aura juggling entirely forgotten. Unfortunately, he’d used emission make the independent ball of life force, and when his attention slipped, momentum and speed carried Motto’s concentrated aura into the wall with a dull crunch. “Dah!” Contorting as he went from alarmed to resigned, the Hunter might have passed for a cartoon character with his foolish sound and movement. Motto’s palm slapped against his forehead and slid down over his nose and mouth while assessing the damage he’d done. After a quiet cuss word, amber eyes flickered back up to Ylva’s turquoise ones, and Motto shrugged laughing. “This place is a hospital. A healing place kinda. You’re not from a city huh? Mm.” The young man’s smile turned into a troubled frown as he thought about the possibilities of small isolated places being victimized by the truck dude. “Maybe you oughta just stay put for now.” Walking through the large hospital might be too much of a shock for the girl, and besides.. she wasn’t looking too good. “How about I grab us something to eat and we have us meal here?” Motto patted his jacket once, twice, a third time. His hand froze. Oh yeah. He didn’t own a cell phone. DANG IT. Squeezing his eyes shut and growling a little, the Hunter vowed to get a phone before the day was through. ![]() |

The dark-haired wolf felt his eyes on her. The sensation made her a bit uncomfortable; usually hurtful words were thrown her way when one looked at her like that, but this time it was different. Motto had a somewhat odd expression but it meant no harm. In fact, it made her chuckle into her hand a bit. That is, before his aura hit the wall and caused a minor hole in the painted wall. “Uh oh…that doesn’t look good,” she muttered as she continued to hold her hand to her mouth. Maybe they could put a piece of paper over it? And no one would notice? That woman that was in here earlier didn’t seem very nice so but also wasn’t very perceptive. It could work. Motto then answered her question about where she was. So…this was a hospital? The she-wolf had heard about them before but never seen nor been in one because they were usually deep insides cities or large towns. Those kinds of places always seemed to overload her senses too much, which was once of the reason why she stuck to traveling through forests and less populated places. “O-Oh…so that’s why they treated my injuries,” she said aloud as she looked down to her ankle while gently touching her head injury, “and…no I’m…not really suited to being in a city.” From what the other said, it seemed like this place focused on healing or treating injured people. She guessed this place couldn’t be all that bad, but the smells were offending her nose and she really wanted to leave this place and go back to what she had been doing previously. If…she could remember what that was, that is. ‘Ngh… it really hurts still,’ she thought as she closed her eyes for a bit and breathed in deeply. That injury to her head…she was sure she had made it worse by banging her head against that wall, but she was pleased that it lead to the other being free and at least the injury was wrapped nicely. The other had suggested her to stay in the room while he went to go get something to eat and she nodded her head slowly, as to agree with him. The wolf was starting to get a little dizzy from where she was sitting on the floor. “U-Um…before you leave…c-can you help me to the bed…please?” she asked, voice quiet as she held her tail to her chest while trying to stand to get to the bed. The room seemed to teeter through her eyes and she had to use both hands to steady herself against the wall. It looked like leaving anytime soon would be out of the question, for now. |

Oh shit she was still on the floor! Flailing a little, Motto stooped down and scooped up the female. “Sorry about that!” He blurted with a burning face. “Heh. Heh. There ya go.” The Hunter set Ylva down onto the bed and scratched his head with a bit more enthusiasm than normal. That was pretty stupid of him to talk her ear off and juggle aura while she sat on the damn floor the whole time. Motto shook his head hard in an attempt to reset his intellect and possibly undo a bit of the embarrassment. Backing away, he bumped into a tray and sent it clattering to the floor. “Shit!” The syringe rolled under the bed and some of the monitors started beeping loudly. “Shit!” Motto spun around and hopped away from the bed until he was against the singed wall. The sprinklers went off. ![]() Amber eyes closed as water pelted his face and clothes. How he managed to do THAT, he’d never know. Motto’s eyes flew open again when he smelled smoke. It was faint, but definitely something burning. The hairs on the back of his neck stood up as the hospital’s very loud fire alarm began to sound. Without thinking, he strode to Ylva’s bed, picked her up again, and quickly went down the stairwell until they were out of the building. |

“O-Oh no, i-it’s okay I-I’ll-,” she started to say but was suddenly in the other’s arms. Instantly, Ylva stiffened as he touched her. Her tail curled around her hips, brushing against one of the hands that held her. A bit of color touched the usually light colored skin on her cheeks. She wasn’t used to people touching her, unless it was out of being hateful towards her because of what she was. This, though,...he was being nice and just helping out. Ylva relaxed a bit as she was placed on the bed. The soft sheets helped her to relax even more as she instantly curled up on the bed and leaned her head against the pillow. The wound still throbbed but it didn’t feel as bad as leaning against the wall. “…T-Thank you,” she muttered but yawned a bit. He seemed very preoccupied about something and that seemed to preoccupied enough for him to bump into a tray, which sent a syringe rolling under the bed. A small laugh left her but that laughter soon fell as water started pour from the ceiling. It a matter of moments she was soaked (hospitals gowns did NOT take water well) and the water was getting into the bandages as well. The scent of smoke becoming more prominent wasn’t very good either and it triggered one of the most HORRIBLE noises that she had the pleasure hearing. Wincing visibly, the wolf tried her best to cover her ears, while also trying to keep the bandages on her head. We hair fell into her eyes and she tried to move it from her line of sight, but she was suddenly picked up again and was being moved. “M-Motto?” They were moving, and were headed to a placed that seemed to echo a lot. Moving her hair out of her face, she noticed that Motto was hurrying down flight of stairs. It was cold, and she couldn’t help but shiver a bit until they were outside of the hospital. “Motto…what the heck happened?” she asked as she looked up at him, completely soaked by the water. |

“Hm? Oh a fire.” The Hunter answered cheerfully. Motto was a bit preoccupied with finding someplace dry for the injured majyuu. He quickly brought her to a bus stop were a partial enclosure stood empty. He could tell she was cold and had scanned the area while sirens grew louder in the distance. Other patients and hospital employees started to crowd around them, and Motto was roughly jostled as the panic rose. “WHAT ABOUT MY MEDS!” A large man on crutches bellowed. His head was heavily bandaged, and a set of fresh thick stitches could be seen on his jaw. On Motto’s other side a woman coughed violently. The bus stop was starting to look like a bad place for Ylva. Edging his way through the cluster, Motto held the girl closer and started to cross the street when a dozen firetrucks broke the corner. The rainy buildings and streets amplified the unnerving sirens that accompanied the flashing lights. Stuff like that always made Motto a little uncomfortable, not only the volume but something about the frantic tune. The strange unsettling song of emergency vehicles reminded him of some of the worst sounds one might hear in the forest only with an unnatural element. As soon as they passed by, he could get Ylva to a nice warm bookstore or somethin’. Man this was kinda sucky after what she might have gone through in that bastard’s truck. The Hunter felt a wave of anger wash over him as he waited. His irritation was starting to show as the downpour grew stronger. ![]() |

A fire? That didn’t sound good. Even though she wasn’t too fond of humans, Ylva hoped that the other people in the building were okay. A rain drop fell on her ear, causing it to twitch a bit. It was raining. Where would they go now? As if to answer that question, Motto carried her to an area that was covered. The feeling of rain hitting her ceased but the feeling of being cold remained. Instinctively, the majyuu curled closer to him as she tried to get warm. Her eyes closed for a bit but it was a short lived respite. More and more people seemed to get the same idea in taking shelter where they were. She opened her eyes and was startled by the amount of people that had gathered. A shrill sound also seemed to be getting close and it was starting to become grating on her hearing. This wasn’t good. The last thing Ylva wanted was people to notice that she wasn’t human and make a big deal about it. They could even go as far as blame the fire on her. Her ears flattened as she tried to make them less noticeable and she physically tensed. Motto started moving again, wedging himself between the crowd; it looked like he had the same idea of getting away. Blinking, the majyuu felt his hands grip her tighter while he continued to walk with her in his arms. Suddenly, those shrill sounds from before were now on full blast and jarred her fully awake. It was such an inorganic sound; it seemed to scraped in inner workings of ears and set her on edge. It made her want to bare her fangs and run, but the myjuu knew that it wouldn’t be a wise move. Screwing her eyes shut, she decided to cover her head and ears as she buried her face in the other’s chest. She hated this; These noises, these buildings, the lack of nature, and humans…it was too much and it was severely overstimulating her. It felt like she could hear every damn sound in the city. It was overwhelming and it was making her feel sick, causing her head to throb even more. Being out of her comfort zone was not something that she was used to. “…ngh…,” the wolf muttered softly as her body started to shake from stress and the cold rain pouring down around them both. |

“Huh? Oh shit.” That wasn’t shivering. Ylva wasn’t doing too good. Grunting, the Hunter broke into a full run with the girl held tight. Motto’s grip may have even hurt her, but his focus had shifted to speed and dexterity as he jumped up and kicked off a moving fire truck to gain momentum. Swiveling one hundred and eighty degrees, the Hunter landed a low roof across the street. Not stopping, Motto thundered across it before taking another wide leap onto a fire escape. The Hunter flew up the stairs three at a time until he reached the rooftop. He’d spotted a greenhouse on the five story building and now he quickly entered it with the soaked girl shaking in his arms. Motto kicked the door shut behind him and strode to a quiet corner of ferns to take a knee. “Hey.. hey.. it’s ok. I got ya. I got ya.” Oh man, what was he thinking? There was a damn hospital across the STREET! But Motto’s gut was telling him this was a better choice. But his concern was still high for Ylva. Pressing her closer to himself, the Hunter wrestled his coat off with one hand and draped it over Ylva Heck, he’d take his damn shirt off if it didn’t mean letting her go for a second. Except for the rain-soaked pair, the greenhouse was unoccupied. Quiet, warm air greeted them with its greenery and fogged up windows. Already the drips from her hair were evaporating on the concrete floor. The steady drum of rain on the glass was fairly soothing; a far cry from the chaos he’d just rescued her from. The poor thing had to be totally shocked with all the commotion. “Ylva.. easy. Hey there. It’s ok now.” Motto spoke in calm tone as he assured her, his senses alert for any changes in the girl’s condition. The last thing he wanted to do was take her back to the hospital. He could help her better than them. ![]() |
