Motto's Stats for this Thread The steady click of the gondola was unnerving to the dark-haired man who stood alone in it's center; a wide stance and his arms crossed over his chest. Motto Brook had taken on a rather odd Hunter job..one that had been posted in the miscellaneous section of the site's contract offers. Apparently a wealthy gentleman by the name of J.J. Harvey had built a luxurious ski resort on Mount Miera: a treacherous place that people are normally told to avoid due to it's unstable terrain, bizarre weather patterns, and dangerous beasts. Having recently completed construction despite the less than favorable circumstances, the ambitious gentleman was looking for a Hunter's feedback. "To spend a week enjoying the resort's various amenities, and to give detailed feedback upon the final day." The posting offered a considerable sum of Jenni, but it was mostly something to do. Motto frowned down at the snow-covered ridges well below the shiny lift he rode in. This sure was a weird place for a resort..how the heck did that J. Harvey guy manage to even build it? Twenty minutes later, he stood in front of an enormous fire place with a refined hearth crafted from rare stone. The carpet Motto stood on was immaculate and he took in the tasteful furnishings uneasily. This place was too fancy for a guy like him. Custom light fixtures were suspended in a unique way, and combined with the state-of-the-art architecture, the Hunter felt genuinely bewildered. Preoccupied with his surroundings, Motto scratched his head absent-mindedly much to his host's amusement. "Welcome Motto Brook." ![]() The Hunter stood straighter and blinked at the older man as he approached. J.J. Harvey looked like he was in his late fifties, well groomed silver hair, a kind face with ice blue eyes, a trim mustache, and strong jaw. Motto noticed the tranquil flow of the other's aura and his confident posture. Nodding, the Hunter brought his hands to his hips; a gesture he did at times like these. "You're the first to arrive. As I expected. Very good. Yes." The older man's eyes crinkled up with a grandfatherly smile. "I'm expecting a few others. I've hired a nice little group you see. From all over. Wanted to get a decent review of my little getaway." Edited by Gon.Pro.Hunter, Jan 22 2017, 10:29 AM.

With a tattered black cape draped over his shoulders Mugen sat silently, calming his mind and settling his spirit, as he rode the Gondola up toward Harvey's Ski Resort. The details for the mission were a bit stretchy and deceptive to say the least but he had faith that the village council wouldn't sent him to perform any trivial task. His expressed desire to become a hunter was well known within his ranks and to that end he was looking to take on harder missions in preparation for the exam. Upon further examination of the location it wasn't your run of the mill winter resort. Mount Miera was notorious for being a rather treacherous mountainous region in Rokario. No normal person would consider it a place to ski at which made Mugen question J.J. Harvey's intentions for building the ski resort and bringing them there. Was is just the whimsical whims of an eccentric rich tycoon or was there something more sinister at hand? Regardless it made no difference either way. The mountain was just another obstacle for him to overcome. The rugged landscape wasn't that much different from what he grew up with in Iwagakure but nonetheless he knew that each mountain offered it's own surprises and no two were the same. The ability to adapt was critical to be a Shinobi and a Hunter he thought as he prepared to dismount and treaked the rest of the way to the Resort which wasn't too far away at this point. Upon arrival he immediately noticed how grandiose the place was and it was almost to be expected considering it's location. Anything less than the finest construct would not be able to weather the conditions the mountains exhibited. Entering in the lobby he found it to be just as awe-inspiring as the outside. Mugen's eyes were then immediately drawn to the fireplace ,as he approached, where he was two men standing. Judging from their appearances the older gentleman worked at the establishment as he was dressed and presented in a manner deserving of such an estate while the other who was much closer to him in age was dressed far more casually and less likely to apart of the hospitalities. "The party hasn't started yet has it?" he said beamingly. |

A relieved grin tugged the corner of Motto’s mouth up and boyish manner at the new guest’s question. Thankfully, he was no longer the only one who didn’t seem to belong in the posh setting. The other dude looked like he was a straight up ninja warrior. “Ah. Mugen Yung." Mr. Harvey’s smile was a polished one, and he lifted an inviting arm towards the latest arrival. “And Delma as well. A pleasure to meet you both.” To Motto’s astonishment, a green gelatinous blob slowly bubbled up from the hardwood floor just two feet from Mugen. After forming a shapeless glistening mass, it sat there wobbling quietly while the host continued to speak. “Most wonderful. I’ll give the others a few more minutes before making proper introductions and giving you the grand tour.” Silver brows raised with the gentleman’s pleasant delivery, and he clasped his hands together in what seemed to be genuine enthusiasm. In order to avoid staring at the green blob, Motto looked up at the ceiling. There was an enormous chandelier composed of crystal icicles that refracted light in a tasteful way, the different sized priceless sculpted shards tinkled gently against one another as he watched. Were chandeliers supposed to move? Motto’s ears perked up to hone in on a muffled sound well beyond where they stood..it was unsettling and faint, but he knew exactly what it was. “nnGET..!!!! to the WALL!” ![]() Scrambling momentarily, Motto grabbed Mr. Harvey’s arm and pressed him up against the eastern wall just underneath two large high windows. Looking behind him, he shouted to Mugen and the transparent goop creature, “AVALANCHE! GET--!” Glass shattered and a deafening roar filled the air as a tidal wave of white poured into the resort’s huge lobby. The walls groaned and the roof cracked. Mother nature was truly frightening in her raw moments, the volume of mountain snow was like a hellish stampede of sorts..thundering in and burying everything in thick suffocation. Motto did his best to stay calm and fight his way up through the wall of crushing snow while keeping the tycoon at his side. Just as quickly as it came, the disaster stopped, and all was quiet except for the chandelier. What was once a grand interior was now more than half full of snow, ice, rock, and tree. Warmth immediately started to envelope his body he approached the fireplace. Whether this was from the fireplace or the ten aura coming from Mr. Harvey was yet to be determined but it was a welcomed contrast from outsides icy gust. As he approached the two men he began to take a better look at Motto sizing him up. Nothing about him seemed particularly intimidating or imposing. From what he could tell they were close to each other in age but Mugen stood quite a bit taller then him with a four inch difference between them. The little bit of anxiety he had left in him faded though he knew it was best to see him action before making any judgements but Motto's grin made it easier for him to relax. This calm lasted only but a moment before Delma made her(?) presence known. What Delma was a mystery to Mugen as he never encountered anything like her. The green blob was an anomaly that left him with nothing but questions. At first he didn't recognize it an individual but some type of chemical leak from the floor. It's vivacious entry from the cracks of the floor alarmed him causing him to do a small skip away distancing himself from the poddle. All his attention was drawn to the gelatinous blob as he tried to identify it and determine whether it was a threat. Thoughts of a booby trap crossed his mind but the mass seemed oddly vibrant almost as if it was alive. Before he could determine which between the two the room began to tremble. At first Mugen didn't notice but Motto who had been a bit more attentive picked up on the signs and immediately sprung into action. Heeding Motto's warning he was able to bolt away from the incoming wave of snow. Just avoiding it in time he slide across the ground where Motto and Harvey were against the adjacent wall. "Looks like we'll be here for a while... *sigh*" he said apprehensively nor longer concerned about the blob but their escape from this dire strait. |

Motto nodded the cape-wearing warrior guy. If had been a shocking experience, the deafening roar of the sliding snow and ice still resounded within the Hunter’s mind. Even though he had only met the Mugen fellow less than a minute ago, Motto was grateful for his company. Otherwise the disaster would have seemed too surreal. The silver-haired host groaned weakly and both Hunters noticed his right arm hanging in a tell-tale way. It was broken and would need attention. “L-ucy..” Mr. Harvey said, blinking up at Mugen, “There are others. My staff..” It hadn’t occurred to Motto that there might be other victims somewhere, and his mind went into a blind flurry with the new information. They might be buried or trapped or maybe even killed! The raven looked at the warrior and accepted that the older guy seemed to be asking for Mugen’s help rather than his own. Motto could be just as useful once he’d secured Mr. Harvey somewhere safely. Nodding to the spiky-haired man, the raven’s tone was serious, “Go. I’ll be right behind ya man.” Just as he started to pack down snow around him in order to pull himself up and out, a slimy green form emerged directly in between Motto and Mugen. Its silence was a little unnerving but there wasn’t any time to decipher Delma’s intricacies. People needed help. ![]() “Uh. We’re going to search for the others. Mr. Harvey’s staff..” Motto explained, not sure if the blob could understand him. Whether or not the odd creature did was unclear as it remained how it was, pulsing softly and nothing more. Another pained groaned from J.J. Harvey, and the Hunter began to climb to the top of the snow; hauling the injured man along with careful haste. |

Mugen sighed as he came to the realization that some of the staff weren't as swift as he was and as a result were buried underneath snow that came crashing in. He had only just arrived and trouble was at their doorstep. Being that he was only arrived moments before the avalanche he was fortunate not to have been swept away in it before arriving. Despite the crisis they all faced Mugen thought about the situation rational. It Harvey had just the smallest amount of prudence or forethought then the resort would be stocked and equipped to handle scenarios like the one they were in. "First let me take a look at you.." Kneeling down to the silver haired host he placed his hand on his shoulder before tearing away the sleeve of his right arm to inspect it. Almost immediately he winced and didn't appear like he could move it at all convincing him that it was broken as a result of the disaster. Having his belongings with him in his backpack he pulled out his first aid kit. He wasn't an expert but it didn't take a rocket scientist to treat a broken arm. It took little effort to treat the older man's arm. Wrapping the arm, applying the splints, and wrapping again before throwing it into a sling. "That should hold for now. Can have you crooking on us now can we? Hehe... Now let's get some shovels..." Leaving Mr. Harvey now to Motto Mugen ran around looking for a closet or a storage room where he might fight some shovels they could use to dig out any injured survivors. Every second was precious as they were at risk of suffocating. |

Motto was impressed at how quickly the warrior guy addressed the host’s injury, but he was mostly confused. A broken arm wasn’t nearly as important as people without air to breathe.. possibly being crushed to death or a number of dangerous possibilities. At one point, he turned to where he’d last seen the green blobby thing and sure enough, it was still there. Making his way over to it quickly, Motto said in a low voice, “Delma.. do you know how many others there are?” The blob did nothing, but he didn’t give up. “Can you .. understand me?” No change in the docile mass. “I think there are people hurt somewhere.. can you help us find ‘em?” As Motto waited for a response his jaw twitched and cheeks reddened. So much for communicating. Swallowing down his frustration, the Hunter went back to Mugen’s side and nodded at the suggestion of shovels. “I got something better.” He grinned and held up his hand. There was a significant amount of Gyo surrounding it, and Motto waited for the man to notice. Even if he didn’t it was ok. The message was still the same. He planned on digging with his hands. He removed his jacket and crouched down to place it around Mr. Harvey’s shoulders. “Where would we find your staff Mr. Harvey? It would save us some time if we knew where to look.” “The kitchen..Lucy’s there. and..there’s no telling where Joey might be.” The old man’s features seemed frail now, his age much more distinct in the pained expressions. “He’s always on the move..” “Don’t worry. We’ll find ‘em.” Motto said with conviction and stood up sniffing. The kitchen would be extremely easy to find considering the lingering smell of chicken in the air. It was faint and fading, but easy enough for Motto to follow. He waved to Mugen. “Let’s go.” Slipping here and there, Motto made for an adjacent corridor and noticed the damage was significantly less. Weird. The scent of chicken and herbs was stronger now. Tarragon and sage. Motto hated tarragon. Climbing over a relatively small snow bank, he slid down into a large industrial kitchen in nearly pristine condition. An attractive woman turned to look at the two men with snowy clothes. “Yes? Can I help you? Oh you must be Mr. Harvey’s guests!” |
