OOC: As she continued to evade the brutal barrage, Wren noted the respective performances of each of her compatriots. Foremost, she was impressed with how well Kainen was holding his own against the onslaught, noting that similar to her, he was making effective use of his nen in breaking the rocks, as well as avoiding those he was able to. Mayhaps I underestimated him at first, though I suppose most seeking to train their nen ought to be at least this good. Much to her dismay, Wren was alarmed by the shocking lack of Go Go’s success in surviving the rock slide. In fact, as Wren watched one boulder after another impact him, her momentary concern grew. As she observed his dive off the ledge, Wren noted the growing distance between Go Go and the mountain. Well, looks like he’s ditching this route, at least for the moment, to preserve his own safety. Not that I blame him, though really, who climbs this mountain without being prepared for a few pebbles. Wren realised her mistake in diverting her attention to the well being of Go Go a tad too late. Returning her full attention up the mountain, she realised that the quantity of rocks was briefly hitting a peak, before it would finally let up, granting an end to the assault of earth. In this momentary surplus, Wren lacked sufficient room to dodge the rocks, as this final wave lacked any gaps through which she could duck. Mildly irritated by the approaching heavy earthen rain, Wren continued to bat aside the lighter stones in preparation for the metaphorical gauntlet, all the while silently berating herself for not paying enough attention to those rocks which were following the immediate ones. To use my hatsu, or not to… Nah, might as well tough it out. Following her thoughts with her actions, Reacting to what she saw as an inevitable failure on her part to be able to dodge or block everything, Wren switched her nen, instead diverting it into Ren, such that she was enveloping her body comprehensively with her nen. The Ren was more condensed in the upper half of her body: the area more likely to experience an unfortunate impact. Then the storm broke, and the thick last barrage of stones before freedom struck her. I guess Go Go made the right call, jumping ship when he did. Wren was able to dodge the first handful of stones, and with the arrival of another unavoidable one, she struck upwards with her right arm, again succeeding in fragmenting the rock with her left hand. However, much to her shock, a second rock had been falling in the shadow of the first, and try as she might to avoid it, it still succeeded in striking her left shoulder, leaving a deep gash and tearing her coat as it bounced off. If not for the protection provided by her nen, it likely would have done even more damage. Off balance from that strike, Wren was forced to convert her momentum into a forwards roll, managing to evade another handful of rocks by the skin of her teeth. This is what I get for being stubborn about using my hatsu. Redirecting her gaze upwards, once more, observed a final stone heading to her head. Irritated at the mountain, but noting that it was the last of the rocks so she had little to fear after it, Wren shot up, directing both her momentum, the full force of a punch, the strength of her brass knuckles, and one hundred percent of her nen into a maximum power punch, shattering the final stone directed at her like a bullet directed through a piece of fine china. That was a pain… Just think of the awaiting sweets Wren, it’ll be worth it. |

More were coming, the more rocks he dodged or destroyed, the more difficult was to deal with the next. Kainen was also worried about Go Go, he saw him trying to dodge the onslaught, but he couldn't get fastly enough out of range, and he got hit by some pieces. Then they flying kid was falling down, out of Kainen sight at the moment, on the other hand Kainen was in trouble himself. A huge boulder was falling, it maybe look like more dangerous, but this rocc (as all the others) was bouncing, and Kainen noticed that the rock wouldn't have hit him. But he was wrong because the rock was breacking, due to the constant bouncing. At the last bounce the rock splitted, the other two big parts were going in other direction (not very dangerous for him), but the storm of fragments were shoot in Kainen direction at high speed. -No way I can dodge them, they are too fast!- Kainen didn't have time to think. He was lowering himself and protecting the face the gauntlet, then he focused the aura in a protecting Ken all over his body. Thanks to the innate quantity of aura Kainen managed to defend himself properly, but even though the defens was good, nevertheless some pieces pierced the aura barrier and hit him opening wounds on the right shoulder and on the left leg. Moreover the impact of all these pieces throwed him 5 meters back. The impact stunned him a bit, but luckily that boulder was the last one. As he got up he was a bit staggered while moving, but after some seconds he got back. Wren was safe too, from what he could see, she was in better conditions than him. But he wasn't worried about her, but about Go Go. -Even though I knew him only from some hours, he is still a kid, we can't leave him alone. Moreover he is special, and nice- He wasn't caring of what Wren was going to do, he didn't care neither of the eagles. Perhaps he prefered to save a life than all other stuffs. He didn't lost much time, he closed the two little injuries with some shred, then he climbed a high lonely tree, and standing upon it, he beginned to search with his eyes (Heightened Senses) Spoiler: click to toggle

Go Go collided with a tree and latched onto it's branches only a half mile down the unfriendly mountainside. He remained there panting and looking up to where he thought the other two adventurers were. He hoped they were alright. Wren-san looked like she was handling herself well and he had no doubts about Kainen's strength with that raven's gauntlet of his. The boy was mostly troubled about finding them again.. especially Wren-san. He was determined to stop her from stealing an egg from the honey eagles. His shoulder throbbed as well as his head. Go Go touched his cut forehead. "Tch." He should have evaded the landslide, but here he was..bruised and in a tree. He flapped his wings a few times. The air responded better here, yet he was still worn out from his attempts earlier. He surveyed the mountain and Go Go's sharp eyes could easily see where earth and stone had just finished toppling off the cliff. That was probably were Wren-san and Kainen were. With determination in his eyes, the boy took flight again. Go Go strained to flap his wings as quickly and as forcefully as possible. He hoped to gain enough momentum to carry himself through the delicate thinning air and onto a cliff not so far from where he had previously been. Had a strong gust of wind not blown down at that moment, Go Go's efforts might have been successful. He found himself sailing downward and scrambling to grab a hold of anything that would prevent his descent. A tree root weakened and snapped in his fingers but his feet touched a small ledge and Go Go pressed himself close to the mountain and folded his wings up quickly. This wasn't going well. |

In the aftermath of the ferocious barrage of earth, Wren followed Kainen’s lead in treating wounds, reaching into her bag and withdrawing some cloth bandages from within her survival kit’s first aid kit. Not wanting to waste precious time, she simply tied up her shoulder wound momentarily with the bandage, not even bothering to remove her coat first. A better treatment could wait till they were in a secure camp. Tying the knot on the bandage and rotating her left arm to ensure it the quick fix was snug, Wren cringed slightly as she felt a brief jolt of pain. Man, what a drag this is turning out to be. Those eggs better be worth all of this effort. Mentally shaking off the pain, Wren picked up her bag and moved to look for the whereabouts of Go Go. While she wasn’t overly concerned with maintaining the overall safety of the impromptu group, Wren doubted that Go Go had met his demise, and figured it was probably best to avoid causing a grudge by ditching her temporary comrades, particularly when so much of the mountain remained to be scaled before she would be able to enjoy her feast. Noting that Kainen had climbed a tree, presumably to look as well, Wren moved over to the edge of the ledge, seeming to teeter precariously as she leaned over to scan the mountainside below. Initially, Wren’s eyes couldn’t locate Go Go in the foliage far below, as she squinted to search for him. It was not until Go Go’s flight had brought him well on his way back up to where they were that Wren was able to distinguish him as more than a distant dark smudge. Observing Go Go’s struggles to regain the altitude necessary to meet them, Wren grew hopeful that he’d be able to make it up to them. After all, that would be the most conducive by far in enabling them to continue on with their sojourn. Yet such an occurrence did not seem to be in the cards, as Wren helplessly looked on a Go Go was beat down by the harsh mountain winds. As his attempt to grasp onto roots failed, Wren continued to observe, anticipating the worse, but her expectations were disappointed when he managed to acquire a temporary foothold on the treacherous terrain. Whelp, looks like it’s time to be a hero… Not what I had been planning on today. Steeling herself, Wren leaped down off the incline, fortunately not ninety degrees, more like seventy five or so. Digging her heels into the slope, she stretched out her right arm behind her, using her hand to guide her rapid descent, making her way towards where Go Go was below. A small trail of dirt, dust, and pebbles was stirred up as she descended, but in comparison to the earlier literal rock slide, such debre made for a weak sauce. Suppressing the pain from the injury she’d just sustained, Wren rushed down the mountain towards Go Go. Looks like I’m in for a much harder time getting back up. By this point, the mountainside had become steeper, nearly a sheer drop. Wren shifted her weight, allowing her full back to come into contact with the surface so as to help her slow down, shifting further off to the side in the direction of Go Go and using nen in order to shield her back. Through these means, Wren was able to slow her momentum such that she was only falling really fast, rather than uncontrollably fast. Of course, braking could still pose a problem. To stop herself, she latched onto a protruding root, likely of the same tree which had failed Go Go. Fortunately for her, though the root did experience visible strain, it managed to refrain from breaking, allowing Wren to hang from it. Releasing her grip, Wren dropped down, landing precariously on the ledge besides Go Go, immediately leaning back against the now cliff face for balance. Cautiously withdrawing her phone from her pocket, she entered a message. “Are you injured? We need to cautiously make our way back up, but I wasn’t sure if you would require assistance of not.” |

Kainen easily noticed Go Go, who were trying to take flight again. "Yes, he is there" Maybe he was hoping too much, in fact Go Go seems quite in trouble to keep flying, the high altitude winds were too much for him. -Probably is better if we reach him- Meanwhile he noticed that also Wren was searching for Go Go, -So she does care him afterall, I expected her to leave him and kept searching for her business. Perhaps I somehow had a strange idea of her in mind...- Since also Wren noticed Go Go she also decided to reach him as fast as possible, sliding throught the steep side of the mountain. -How reckless...- Kainen decided to take her example, but he simply decided to reach him running fast (Speed Stance). Even if Wren should have been faster then him due to her choice of moving, Kainen managed to reach the target at almost the same time, since his training allowed him to run fast and dodge obstacles with acrobatics, without getting slow. Even though mantaining this rhythm was quite painful due to the recently wounds, and dangerous, since he was getting too fast for just running, in fact sometimes he simply jumped from a point to another. "Hey Go Go, are you ok?" Kainen looked quite worried at the beginning, -If a rock hitted his wings, he might have a broken wing. And that should be really bad- But he reassured himself seeing that he didn't got any hard hit. "While your wings are incredible useful and nice, they should still be a weak point, am I right? They could have broken easily with those rocks? You are quite lucky I believe" Perhaps Go Go's wings seems deceptiful weak, while they are instead tough, but Kainen doesn't expect that. |

Go looked all around to try to assess his options. Below him was a sheer cliff face.. with what looked like a one hundred maybe two hundred foot drop. On either side there were little divots in the rocky mountain side, but none that he could reach. Above him were more small ledges and … Wren-san? Go Go blinked as small pebbles showered down to announce the girl’s approach. When she landed easily beside him, he was so amazed he almost clapped. This girl was very brave and talented. He realized that a physical fight with her wasn’t going to go well. She had already typed a message?! Go Go read in astonishment…”Injured? Mmm.. not really.” Go Go turned to face the girl and realized he was quite close to her on the small ledge. He didn’t mind the proximity but wondered just how she could even assist him in such a limited space. “I don’t know how I’m going to get back up there.. I might have to try flying to a different spot.” Go Go gasped as Kainen suddenly landed on the ledge as well, he blinked up at the strong man. “Kainen! Whaaa? Mm! I’m ok. Yes.. I hurt my wing once during winter..couldn’t fly.. Kainen..I don’t know how we’re all going to get back up..I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to make trouble.” He looked from the muscular man’s face to the pretty plum hair girl’s. He wondered how they intended to get back up. Were they able to climb straight up? Go Go was embarrassed at his obvious lack of skill and strength, but he dismissed it quickly. Kainen had trained hard and perhaps the same could be said of Wren-san. He didn’t intend to hold the man back from his personal mission, but he was strangely glad that the girl wasn’t currently pursuing the eggs ahead of him. He pressed himself back against the mountain’s wall in an attempt to create more space for the other two and hoped that he could find a way to change Wren-san’s mind without any conflict. She had risked a great deal joining him in the dangerous little situation he’d gotten himself into. He fought the urge to bring up things at the present moment. He’d have to wait. |

A nice adventure thread, and generally filled with good interactions from everyone. A particularly enjoyed the rockslide scene. It was a shame this was cut short so soon. Rewards:
