[Incomplete]Mastering the Mountain; Aiza trains Jake

Jake gaped with admiration at the magnificent swords Aiza presented to her. From the gleam of the metal, she could see that the weapons were well taken care of-- a sign that the owner respected his weapons. This is something she ought to learn herself, Jake thought. With reverence to the cherished blades, Jake gingerly picked up Phobos, all the while glancing at Aiza for permission. The sword was heavy in Jake’s estimation and looked very sturdy. The metal which the blade was made of was not one she was familiar with but by the feel of it, she knew it it meant power. On the blade, itself was an intricately drawn golden dragon which Aiza explained was the insignia of his clan. Jake was enraptured and all the more became more excited to know more about her master and his art.

She replaced Phobos respectfully beside its twin and turned to get her weapons and show them to Aiza.

“Aiza, I’d like you to meet Coconut Cutter I and Coconut Cutter II.” she said, presenting her bolos to him. Then she laughed boisterously, almost folding over in merriment. “I’m kidding” she eventually added when she was able to control her laughter but it took her a while to completely cease laughing. Taking a deep breath, she straightened herself and continued. “My weapons don’t have a fancy name like yours but they do the job.” she finished.

It was at this point that Jake noticed that the pot was starting to boil over so she lifted the lid and grabbed a ladle she had with her things and stirred the contents. She then added the rest of the ingredients into the pot starting first with the meat and the herbs she picked just outside for last. She again glanced at the other man. “It won’t be long now.” she assured him as she went back to sit on her place by the wall.

Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad.

Aiza watched as Jake inspected each of his blades, seemingly in awe of the weapons. He couldn't help but smile slightly, filled with an almost fatherly pride. They were his design after all. Noticing an inquisitive look, as her eyes were drawn to the blades themselves, Aiza shifted around the fire until he was beside her. Running his hand along the blade he looked upon Jake's reflection in the deep black metal. "This is Fulmenite. It's incredibly rare... only found on the Arizu Isles and only found in specific lakes." Aiza stared at the weapons as if awed by them himself, despite them being his own blades. "It's a bit strange. It can be melted down and worked like a metal, but it grows and forms in shards, more like a crystal. Fulmenite functions almost like a lightning rod, drawing and storing electricity and on top of that, it amplifies the intensity of it too." Taking his hand from the blade, Aiza shifted away and let her return to her analysis.

Smiling brightly, Aiza barely stifled a huge laugh at Jake's joke. He was certainly far more amused than he let on, having to stop himself from laughing as loudly as her; she clearly shared his strange sense of humour. "Nonsense! Every good blade needs a name!" He chuckled. Aiza took her blades in each hand and eyed them up and down. The Coconut Cutter Twins were simple, especially in comparison to Aiza's high quality weaponry. They were somewhat worn with use, slightly rusted in places. Running his finger along the blade, Aiza could feel the edges were a bit dull. They probably saw just as much use as tools as they did weapons though, so Aiza could understand to some extent. They needed some love though, that was for sure. "Truthfully these need some work, but we've got plenty of time for that." He smiled and handed them back to Jake.

Seeing the broth begin to boil he could tell that the food was almost ready. He leaned over and fanned the warmth towards him, his nose bombarded with the pleasant scent. "It smells beautiful." He beamed. "Anyway, tell me more about the man you learned from. Do you know the name of the style he taught you?"

Jake’s ears started to warm. She unconsciously scratched the side of her nose with one finger and with a sheepish smile answered, “Truth be told, I was a bit of a numbskull back then.” Then with eyes that wandered everywhere except on her master, added, “ I don’t expect I changed all that much but at seventeen and fresh out of an island in the middle of nowhere, I was embarrassingly naive.” She chuckled shyly.

Taking the pot out of the embers with a makeshift pot-holder and setting it to one side, she continued her explanation.

“I met this man with long black hair. The top looked like he either had just gotten out of bed or just doesn't bother to comb his hair.” she described with an amused thoughtful look in her eyes as she rummaged through her pack for containers to serve as bowls. “If I had hair that long, I wouldn't bother to comb it either” she joked. “It was so long it reached his ankles.” Now spooning the stew into one container, she went on to say, “I could never see much of his face because it was strangely always covered by bangs but one trait that really stands out is that his entire body was covered with this black tattoo that looks like the dark flames of hell.” She handed the stew to Aiza and proceeded to scoop some for herself while continuing her tale. “He was a mysterious middle-aged man that traveled with nothing but pants on and whenever I asked him anything personal, he would always find a way not to answer.” As she took a sip of her food, a shade of puzzlement came over her. “Come to think of it, I travelled and trained with him for two years but he never even told me why he decided to just pick up a stray girl wandering the open roads to train her.” Then taking another sip, “the old coot must’ve been crazy, I tell you. But regardless, I am grateful.” Then facing Aiza, she shrugged and said, “ then one day, I wake up alone in an empty field somewhere near Zaban and I’ve been wandering aimlessly ever since.” She ended with a crooked smile. “I hope the stew isn’t too bad, master. I apologise for not being a good cook” She had looked at her respected new master in hopes that he understood.

It's too bad this wasn't finished. It had promise. I especially like how you handled the seemingly abrupt shift in weather. Little things like that can be frustrating to read, but your grace is admirable. I hope to be as generous a partner as you one day.
