A strong gust of wind shook the surrounding trees violently, fighting with the groups light source in the process. the fire flickered, now if you let Aj tell you he would say it was just as if one turned their room light off and on repeatedly at night. A number of footsteps could be heard, footsteps of animals running yet Aj couldn't make them out since he had lived in the city majority of his life what he made the feet steps to be in his mind were that of kids. "We need to ge-" said the leader of the pack though Aj couldn't make out the rest of what he said over Geanna letting out a high pitch scream directly in the hears of Aj who was trying to locate the others.

What was that one of their attacks? how irritating thought Aj as his ears rung his relation was to cover them with his hands and close his eyes. Before long Aj was hit in the arm with something hard which knocked him off balance causing him to stumble, it wasn't a hard enough impact to cause him to yell out but it was enough for him to feel the need to take out his nun-chunks. Holding a nun-chuck in one hand the metal links clunked together as he stumbled to a tree he pressed his back against it to hold himself up.

"Be prepared what ever they are they have weapons" Aj said before the demons started laughing, the same laughter he held upond landing on this island though he couldn't quite make it out since his ears were still ringing, opening his eyes the surrounding area was alot clearer he could make out the figures around him now. The two his was with were both within eyes sight which was a good thing they were not alone, from what he could make out Geanna seemed to be looking for something he could only explain her actions as a blind person looking for the bathroom in another persons house without direction.

Aj saw as Aiza grabbed Geanna from the collar "Are you mad?" Aj heard him say as his ears stopped ringing, aj stood to his feet and headed in direction of the two still a little unorthodox but he made his way none the less he eyes had completely adjusted to the darkness. "This is too dangerous. We need to get away from those things...That there, was too close for my liking. We can't do much about what's going on in there. It's too dark. If they die, it won't be in vain. We'll find a solution." Aiza with that the man headed forward in the direction they had been headed in to began with, Aj couldn't seem to understand why they weren't going back to the village for safety but he didn't complain and followed the leader his past experience with the demons caused him. “No!” Geanna spoke up “We can’t let that-- that thing get to those poor people!” she said turning to Aiza.

As Aj walked past Geanna he voiced his opinion "What things" he said placing the nun chunks over his shoulders.

"Do you even know what things we are up against, those things run in packs and are native to this area which gives them the upper hand" Aj's lips continued to move but at this point zad was definitely doing the talking "even if by chance those Demons where headed to the village I say those villagers aren't worth the trouble"

Cranking his knuckles Aj chanted "don't worry about it too much, they have survived this long, most of the village have already caught whatever it is that those things carry, the villagers are a lost cause we need to focus" with that he started after Aiza with his nun-chunks resting on the back of his neck.

Everyone's always telling you to be humble. When was the last time someone told you to be great?

Yushiro looked at Wintrow and listened to him quietly as he spoke. "
"We believe that the Svartalfar is punishing us because we have neglected the sacrifice due to major problems we had to fix first. They were not understanding and are mad, their punishment is in the form of what you are witnessing now.", Yushiro calmly explained. "The man you had just seen a little ago was banned from the village because he had committed a cardinal sin. As long as he does not interfere with our punishment and he did his own sacrifices, he should be fine yes. The fact that he has survived till now without being petrified is a testament to that theory."

Yushiro shrugged his shoulders lightly at Wintrow's next question if it possibly applied to them as well. "It will probable not apply to you immediately but if the creatures senses intent of interfering they might try to eliminate the source of disturbance in their punishment.", not too long after they reached the village, filled with hovels consisting of clay and wood. The biggest was located in the middle. After a little rest and dismounting their horse Yushiro went on his way to led them to his relatives house. Yet when they came there, nobody turned out to be there. Yushiro was worried but his facial expression kept the same.

Yushiro lead them to the middle so they could get a clear view of all the houses and see if anything weird was happening. Yet the only hint that they got were moans from the biggest house, the middle one. "The healers hut..", Yushiro mumbled. It seems like the only sign of possible life was to be found there, but they had to be cautious because it could potentially be the Svartalfar trying to trick them. Yushiro carefully opened the door and what he found was various mats with close to, if not all the civilians of the small village. Some already stoned to death, some close or coughing like crazy and looking weak.

Before they could observe if the healer was fine they were distracted by feet smacking loud against the ground with a continuous high pitched giggle. Turning around they would be face to face with four overweight toddlers, with pale blueish skin and a big, happy eye smile leaving nothing to the imagination if clothes are concerned. Their giggling was almost formulated instead of genuine, as if they were specifically choosing to giggle this way. And soon they jumped all over the place, knocking down furniture, climbing and jumping off walls kicking villagers while they were down. One toddler put his attention on Yushiro and formulated a high pitched giggle, all the four toddlers sitting in the four different corners of the room looked at Yushiro. "Haha", and they all simultaneously jumped to him trying to get him.

Meanwhile the other group consisting of Aiza, AJ and Geanna did not meet these creatures again in the healer's hut as they made the decision to not go back to try and save them. After ten minutes further exploration with nothing eventful happening they stumbled upon a long bearded, half naked man sitting, leaning on a tree. Creating a circle with his finger in the dirt. As soon as they came in close vicinity his attention got pulled to them. "More people? Strangers?!", he wondered loudly.

"What is it that you are looking here strangers? It's dangerous! The Great Ones are mad and they are going to get you if you have not sacrificed and are present here!" He gestured for them to come in the circle that he had created. "I am sacrificing right now, we can offer this together so you will be safe." "Where are you from? What are you doing here? Why did you come here? Where are you going? I can help you before they come", he asked before starting the ritual.

Geanna’s protestations for the past half hour or so fell on deaf ears and she had now tired herself out. She now resorted to glaring daggers at the cold-hearted man that ordered them away from the village of innocent, helpless people who were obviously in need of their help. This of course was also useless since no one could really see in the utter darkness. They followed the man named Aiza through the forest with only the occasional moonlight peaking through the clouds and branches lighting their way.

Then they saw a light in the distance which they decided to approach carefully. It was a half-naked man with a pointy beard, sitting on the ground drawing circles on the cold earth. Cautiously, they inched towards him and Geanna could not help wondering why the man was drawing circles on the ground in the middle of the dark forest. Her unvoiced question however was indirectly answered when the man invited them to sacrifice something with him. This must be what the old woman in the healer’s hut explained to them. The villagers were supposed to sacrifice something to the Svartalfar to appease them.

Geanna looked over the man’s shoulder as he was crouched over the thing that he was going to sacrifice. What Geanna saw horrified her and she felt her gorge rise, the hot liquid rising in her throat. On the ground between the man’s feet were various bloody pieces. Geanna was not able to get a good look at the things the first time but she was more or less sure that it looked like pieces of innards and other organs. Of what, she could not tell being unfamiliar with such things. She could not smell the metallic scent of the blood covering them but she controlled herself and forced herself to watch as the man placed them in a certain order in the circle. Then he reached into the pocket of his pants and unveils a rock small enough to be enclosed by the palm of a child’s hand that plainly contained something that shone yellow in the meager light.

Geanna’s eyes widened. Was that a gold ore?

The man placed the precious offering at the very center of the offering. He then wiped his blood and dirt-caked hands at the back of his pants and faced their group. Addressing Aiza (being the eldest of the bunch), he fired a series of questions pertaining to their reason for being there.

Geanna thought the man was very strange and questioned in her mind the same set of questions about the man as well. Geanna decided that for the meantime, it would be wiser to just be quiet, observe, and let Aiza do all the talking. She did, however, turn to their other companion. “What do you think of all this?” she asked him in as low a whisper as she could manage.

Mizaki nodded at his cousin's remark, glad that it was him to ask the question he intended to; he was undoubtly an excellent communicator, whose friendly and affable tone and ability of steering conversations towards his desired subject in seemingly natural and unforced ways ensured that the answer he'd obtain from the elderly man would be different from that they would listen if it were asked by himself. Aiming to encourage him to talk about himself and thus to thoroughly gain his trust instead of asking a general, objective question as Mizaki would have done, they recieved a likely much more insightful reply; calmly, and significantly slowing their pace as he spoke, Yushiro affirmed that the inhabitants of their and others village were punished by the mythological dwarves as they had not offered their sacrifices to them.

Often, he was suprised by the prevalence of unsupported, illogical and superstitious beliefs on perfectly sane and frequently intelligent individuals and had grown accostumed not to consider phenomenon extraordinary, Mizaki did not expect Yushiro, whose previous behaviour did not suggest it, to believe in such corrupted legends. His explanation of the motives of both the man they encountered's expulsion and the petrification disease led him to wonder which cardinal sin had him commited to justify his punishment and what were the major problems that had forced them to neglegect to perform their sacrifices. Mizaki, however, once again decided that he should let his cousin to be the one to ask those questions and remained silent, concluding that both were natural questions which he'd verbalize as the conversation proceeded. Whereas he did not believe in any mythological creatures' role in the spreading of the sickness and, consequently, in Yushiro's conclusion, Mizaki reached a similiar one. Likely, whoever was behind it, if it was anyone, would not be interested on aware of them and would preferably ignore them unless they interfered with the plans already set into motion; they did, nonetheless, intend to do it.

As they finally reached the much larger settlement, whose houses were, however, smaller and mostly made from clay and wood contrasting with those from the old man's village, which were made of stone, the trio rested for a few minutes; both cousins were exhausted from their attempt to accompany the horse's considerable speed for such a long journey and enjoyed the pause. However, the odd yet not complete silence that they had noticed while approaching the village was contrastant to the sounds of everyday life and foreshadowed that it had been, also, affected by the disease. Yushiro waited for them to slightly recover before silently guiding them to his relative's house, located on the outermost portion of the settlement; its lack of human presence was obvious as they walked towards it and found no signs of human activity. Nonetheless, they entered and, continuing to accompany him without muttering a word as he checked for anyone's presence in every room and finding none. Yushiro, did, nevertheless, mantain his composture, whether for an acceptance of the punishment they should endure or any other reason, and stoically mumbled a Let's go before turning his back on the house as he resolutely exited it and guided them to village centre on Mizaki's request, to have a clearer view of the settlement and search for survivors.

Directed by the faint noises emanating from the village's largest hut as they approached its centre, which was, according to Yushiro, the healers' and thus certainly the location where they would most likely, or, almost certainly, he concluded from the moans of pain they could now distinguish, find the remaining villagers. Whereas Mizaki and Wintrow rushed to walks towards it, Yushiro approached it much more cautiously, almost as if expecting a trap; it was him the one to open its wooden door to reveal many of the settlement's inhabitants; it seemed that every one of them was lying in a rug - most of them were, as the ones they'd previously found, entirely petrified; others were partially stoned and a substancial number were coughing uninterruptly and appearing to be enduring the same fate. Mizaki glanced at Wintrow and immediatly understood his intention of helping as many people as he could; whereas he shared the same feeling, various concerns also occupied his mind: they should ensure they wouldn't by infected by the disease themselves; additionnaly, perhaps, to determine its cause and erradicate it would ensure a greater number of people did not get sick and the best course of action would be to call for health professionals to manage the situation, bringing adequate equipment with them. Wintrow alone or even with his and luckily a few healthy men's help would not be able to take care of so many people neither had the necessary equipment for such a task. Mizaki agreed that they should not and would not let these people to die in agonizing pain here, but maybe it would be wiser to alert and call for the presence of those who were more qualified to deal with the crysis and concluded that they first logical step would be to determine who were the healers, if any remained, and in which condition they were; they could call the Global Organization for Communicable Diseases Control afterwards - it should take less than a day for the GOCDC experts and doctors to arrive in a necessary scale for this village alone in spite of him knowing a few were already researching the svartálfar's disease and likely also inside the NGL.

His thoughts were, however, interrupted by the sound of loud steps and a high-pitched, childish, annoying giggle; from their right, opposite to the room where most of the sick villagers were, they were faced with four naked fat blue-skinned creatures, which he immediatly assumed to be the mythical svártalfar, in spite of being rather... unimpressive if compared to the dark dwarves of the uncorrupted drawnings. Mizaki reacted immediatly, preparing himself to fight and removing his nunchaku from his backpack which he dropped on the floor and adopting a state of Ren. As the four creatures spread chaos throughout the building, destroying most of the bare furniture it possessed and hurting the already suffering villagers, Mizaki glanced at both Yushiro, seemingly horrified, and Wintrow, at whom he nodded, indicating they should fight. If the mythical creatures were here, it seemed unlikely that whoever controlled them wasn't much far away; using Gyo in his eyes, Mizaki could conclude that they doubtlessly were composed of nen. When one of them appeared to notice Yushiro and take an interest in him and eventually all of them did the same and jumped towards the elderly man, Mizaki jumped to protect him, launching a powerful, gyo-enhanced strike at one of them and, a few fractions of seconds afterwards, a kick at the one farthest away from the place where he stood and had jumped from the western wall, leaving those who had leaped from the southern and eastern to his cousin.

" I see" Wintrow kept the serious look and attentive expression while the old man talked. " So they missed the sacrifices and their god got mad" He wondered how many times that story had been told to explain natural ocurrences as tornados, hurricanes, diseases. " Not on this time and space... at least for the outer world" Outer to NGL, the doctor meant. He let it pause for a while and then asked " If i'm not oversteppingmy boundaries, what kind of sacrifice are we talking here?" A sharp glance to Yushiro's expression would let him know wether he was taking ofense in Wintrow's question or not, wether there was disgust or sadness, even if it was clouded with the depressive tone on his lines, wether there was pain or anger, Wintrow focused on reading the oldman's feelings. " Did i speak too low or was I ignored?" The old man had continued to answer his previous questions, Wintrow let it slide: " A resistance on a particular subject should not be forced while it's tense, it'll only create distance between us too, and that's definetly not what's best for either partie's" He exchanged looks with Mizaki to see if he noticed or not. This "telepathy" was something possible within people that the doctor had known for a long time or had been for a long time. He'd work on the mechanisms for person thought and methods and would slowly adapt his wayof thinking so he could easilly figure out what'd their reactions be. As long as Wintrow concerned, " Predictable people are easier to reach for, if we act just like we are thought too, then they subconsciously feel like we are no threat, so people generally open up easierly" He noded to himself, "Enough of theory, a conversation was happening,"

After a rest, the groud had got into the village. The hovels shaded the silence with antecipation. There was noone around, the old man brough Mizaki and Wintrow to the suppost house. As they got nearer, there wasn't neither whispers or rumble to bring hope to Yushiro's face. The lines grew deeper, the distaste and sadness craved on the man's wise tanned skin. The doctor wanted to say something, but there was nothing to be said. After a round and investigation, there was nobody in the little hovel. Wintrow kept serious look, when he exchanged with Yushiro's shrug. When they returned outside, the old man's gaze was burried in the ground. Wintrow knew, " Yushiro needs another push, he can't drop now." A firm pat on his back. " Yushiro sir, let's go" He looked with his brown hand directly to those red rayed, they were serious but positive. His expression didn't flicker while they held gazes, he then noded and the man pulled of a little smile and agreed "It wasn't a " it's going to be allright" smile, it wa smore likelly " Yes, we can't give up now" smile, wintrow thought.

For some time they walked, until they met a bigger hovel: Yushiro explained that it was the healer´s hut. There seemed more livingly, " Like an ER" Sobs, ocasionaly groans, that aura of life ever decreasing. As soon as they entered, Wintrow's heart held tight to his chest. The view was nore more like the chaos after a huge fire, some still burnt, others had been reduced to ashes. The doctor's breath was stuck for a moment, until he watched Mizaki take quick action, he snaped. " I need to separate those by urgency, those who don't show signs of petrification or onlhy small parts" He needed to evaluate every risk, and organize them, if he could not save them, he'd ease his pain. As he was stepping forward, a strange giggling caugh his attention. Wintrow turned to meet four overweight children, and quickly steped forward to cover Yushiro. Wintrow's eyes quicly inscepted the environment, they were in disadvantage " What the hell are those?"

Wintrow looked towards MIzaki, who had put down his backpack, taking out his weapon. " If we run with Yushiro, we leave them to these....creatures" Wintrow did not know what those were, but he was positive they were not human. Wintrow unsheathed his blade and pointed to them. " Basicly, we need to drive them out" Mizaki's ren roared in reaciton to the chalenge, " Is he trying to get their attention?" They were already jumping around, the tender wood wa sno match to their weight. They jumped around, they did not run. Wintrow wanted to hide and annalyse, but he could not just leave those two unguarded. One of them noticed the old man, that was now between the tow cousins. Again, the annoying and fear shaking iggle, Wintrow tried to remmber " They seem to communicate throught these giggles, before they started smashing around one giggled again, and now some seemed to comman them to attack Yushiro" MIzaki had already taken action, stepping forward and kicking two of them away. " I want to see what they react to"

Wintrow kept his dagger on its scabbard and covered Yushiro in the black coat Wintrow had been wearing. He imbued a thin layer of aura on it, on the outher surface and picked the old man while jumping back, towards Mizaki, who was closer to the other wall. BY doing this, the doctor increased their distance while avoiding the initial charge to Yushiro. He was carrying the old man in his shoulder, faced down and covered by the his black cloack. When he landed on the pavement near the information hunter, Wintrow quickly looked for other doors or window or holes. " Mind opening an exit for us" Wintrow knew their aggro was focused on Yushiro, and they wanted to drive them away from the others, he was hoping to be followed. " I don't need to explain any of this to him, he's sharp enough to figure out the plan" When the four blueish skinned enemies decided to attack, Wintrow carrying Yushiro and Mizaki would jump outside hoping the dwarves would follow them. still trying to keep a safe distance.

It seemed as if Geanna's eyes still hadn't adjusted to their surroundings as she walked along for the last 30 minutes with a speech a national award winning debater couldn't argue with. We now know who will be doing most of the communications, hope she can put it to use when those demons attack Aj thought knowing communication wins wars. About ten meters around would be Aj's estimate of the amount of his surroundings he could see the chances of getting ambushed was slim since they had no light source yet if the opposition had night vision the odds of being located sky rockets, this would be bad.

"If those demons can see in the dark we are in trouble" Aj voiced " the ops would have the upper hand" he said before running at a tree kicking off it but not into the stereotypical back flip off the tree no after the kick he went into a gainer landing flawlessly, not to mention the nunchucks he caught half way through the flip "just think an enemy that can see us but we couldn't see them that would be bad" he continued with his arms over his hand turning around to see one face "Geanna" Aj spoke "Geanna" he whispered a little louder.

Looking around he saw a light right in the middle of the Forrest, plain as day and Geanna's head walking toward it. 30 meters away he judged the distance to be jumping into the trees, this would put Geanna's dangerously close to the light source judging from her small shadow. Aj knew he couldn't make it to her in time "Geanna wait" he yelled trying his best to catch up but it was too late she had already left his sight and reached her destination. Aj stopped around 5 meters out from the light source still in the tree above.

One of the enemy's tricks again he thought yet thinking that such a thing was an impossible act he discarded it Zad got a laugh out of that knowing that such an act was definitely possible and it didn't take a genius. Looking on he saw as an bearded man finished up the last circle he was drawing in the dirt "More people? Strangers?!", he voiced. Looking back at Geanna noticing Aiza was standing beside her he let off a quick high pitch whistle, trying to let the others know his location this was followed by echoes from birds leading to more and more echoes, although this was a great cover up he couldn't help but think he just opened the doors of the under world. The bearded man went on to say that he could help them among other things he aimed towards Aiza, jumping down beside the group thinking he was safe Gennena asked him what he thought of all this. "Seems a little hippiesh to me" Zad said speaking through aj.

Then a spirit came upon Gean and spoke with these words: I leave to the participants of this thread, the discretion on whether they are to continue it on their own or to submit it for grading. May you reap a boon on the hard work that you have sown into this mediocre idea of mine. I thank you for your participation and ask apology that we were not able to complete it.

And with the mysterious spirit's task complete, it went away just as unnoticed as it came.

Geanna looked at Aiza but suddenly he just disappeared. Where had he gone? But more importantly, why had he gone? Could he have been abducted while everyone else was focused on the man performing the curious ritual?

All these questions, Geanna wanted to voice out to her companions. But before she could, the wild man jumped up and attacked her with a knife concealed in his britches. And all that time, Geanna thought that bulge was something else.

She scolded her mind. This was not the time to be making jokes. She was powerless against the frenzied man and summoned her nen too late for he had plunged his concealed blade into the depths of her heart.

And there she lay, her blood oozing from the lethal pierce, awaiting the darkness and the embrace of nothingness to come. She found it funny, that the BGM to her death was the clashing of weapons and the cries of familiar voices. Just like that fateful day in a secret village beside the sea.
