Profession: Crime Hunter Reputation: 0 (Rank H)
Background
Birthday: March 23rd Personality: Makoto is a cheery boy with a positive outlook on life. He is always eager to make new friends although perhaps too eager. Some may find him to be overly enthusiastic and possibly even obnoxious. To others he‘s a near constant source of smiles and laughter. He‘s slightly mischievous and often pokes fun at just about anything. He‘ll quickly get pouty once the tables are turned however, but it only takes him a moment to flip right back to his usual cheery self.
Makoto‘s a kind soul and always willing to lend a hand to those in need. He also never judges a person for who they are, so long as they don‘t harm anyone else he‘ll be the first to encourage people to just be themselves regardless of what others might think.
Makoto is assertive and not one to be walked all over by others, despite what they might gather from his appearance. He‘s also always ready to speak his mind, often regardless of whether or not it‘s appropriate.
Although not dumb by any stretch of the word, Makoto can sometimes be a little naive. He is almost too willing to believe in the good in people, always hoping to find just the tiniest slivers of light in the souls of otherwise utterly depraved individuals.
Makoto‘s interests lie mostly in gaming and he enjoys games of practically every genre and platform. At nearly all times you can be sure to find at least a handheld on his person, with at least a few different games to go with it.
Origin: Makoto was born and raised in York Shin City by his mother. He never knew who his dad was and she never really hid the fact that it could be a vast number of men. A promiscuous woman to say the least and one who loved Makoto dearly.
His mother is a Crime Hunter who, prior to having Makoto, travelled between various cities wherever there was need of her. But with a kid under her care, she settled down in York Shin City and took jobs exclusively in that area.
She has always been nothing but supportive of Makoto‘s life choices so long as they didn't cause trouble to others and truly made him happy. She taught him to always stand his ground and to not let anyone tell him how to live his own life. Her upbringing and unconditional love is what allowed Makoto to persevere through getting picked on at school. It also probably helped that she taught him how to fight and despite his petite form he was able to fight back against anyone who went too far. As he got older, Makoto eventually made friends with even those who had once bullied him.
Given Makoto‘s kind nature, she was also quick to decide that teaching him the basics of Nen would be safe, a decision she has so far not regretted.
Makoto always hoped to become a Crime Hunter like his mother. Not just to follow in the footsteps of the person whom he admires. But also so she could again have the freedom to pursue whatever jobs required her. Although she has deemed Makoto capable enough to go out on his own and get some practical experience before the Hunter Exam she still feels the need to stay home so that he‘ll always have a place to come back to. Only when Makoto finishes the exam and acquires his very own license will she go back to her travelling.

[12/16]Techniques Technique Name: Acrobat Technique Category: Acrobatics Type: Supportive Range: Personal Technique Rank: R8 (Set so high because of the ease with which he performs these feats) Description: Makoto is a highly capable acrobat. He has a natural talent which he‘s honed to a level quite above even Olympic gymnasts and professional circus performers. His mastery provides him with stellar balance and flexibility.
Balancing on a tight rope is something he can do with his eyes closed without any worry. He can even balance on top of a speeding car swerving through traffic, albeit not with his eyes closed. In the event he somehow loses his balance, he can easily recover barring any outside influence.
Makoto is also, as mentioned above, extremely flexible. Without warming up he can, from a standing position, quickly bring and keep a leg up parallel to his body, without the aid of his hands and regardless of whether the leg is brought up at the front or the back. He can bend backwards to the point where his head sticks out between his legs without any exertion.
In the air, Makoto has exceptional control over his movements by shifting his momentum. Changing directions is still impossible of course.
This has the combined effect of letting Makoto effectively dodge and attack in a highly unorthodox manner. This often surprises his opponents as they find themselves faced with a kick from what one would assume is an impossible angle.
Technique Name: Fluid Fighting Technique Category: Fighting Type: Supportive Range: Personal Technique Rank: R4 Description: If his fighting style has a name then Makoto doesn't know it. He only knows what his mother taught him. She taught him how to fight effectively against even those who physically overpower him. The style heavily revolves around solid footwork to evade an attack and get into a position that limits their attack options and delivering a counterattack to their weak spots. It requires considerable precision in order to consistently hit those spots correctly though which makes style of fighting ineffective to most people and because of the need for footwork, there is little kicking involved as far as strikes go. The ones that are incorporated in the style are mostly short ranged kicks at an opponent‘s legs meant to hinder their own footwork and overall effectiveness.
Blocking is not emphasized in this style, but rather it seeks to redirect an opponent‘s attack, getting them off balance and setting them up for a counter attack. Counterattacks provide the meat for this style‘s offense as one might imagine.
What this style lacks most is grappling techniques. It is practically entirely focused on striking when it comes to offense and as a result, Makoto‘s defense against grapples is also weakened as he has trained little to none in how to deal with them. It does possess a good amount of throws however, utilizing the opponent's own momentum to provide much of the actual force needed to lift and throw them to the ground.
The style‘s defensive nature makes it exceptionally effective at simply evading and drawing out a fight when Makoto foregoes any attempt at counterattacking. This can be an effective strategy if he wishes to tire his opponent out or if he only needs to last a certain amount of time before help arrives.
