Sayafa Abaraqa Arizu Style. (Slight Expansion. Copy the whole thing, some minor edits here and there, even if some bits look unchanged.)
Technique Name: Sayafa Abaraqa Arizu Style Technique Category: Martial Arts Type: Supportive Range: Melee Technique Rank: 4 Description: By merging his knowledge of various sword styles and hand to hand martial arts, combined with his strange choice of weapons, Aiza has developed Sayafa Abaraqa. The sword style is a development of his mastery of the Arizu style and utilizes a graceful and fluid move set, to compliment the fact that not only does he use a very unorthodox, awkward weapon, he uses a pair of them to control and manipulate his opponents movement.
Sayafa Abaraqa is derived from and is essentially a modified version of the Arizu style, adapted from Aiza's mastery of the incredibly complex and demanding style. Due to its complexity and the amount of other styles required to master it, many older swordsmen are put off trying to begin learning it from scratch. The aptly named Arizu style was originally developed on the Arizu Isles during a time of great warfare. Due to the Arizu style having been created and refined during wartime in real to-the-death combat, it quickly became an extremely efficient, deadly art, tried and tested on the battlefield. When the Arizu style was first formulated, during the war for the then called "Bloody isles" the Arizu clans forces suddenly increased in strength almost a hundredfold, carving a swathe across the bloody isles and completely dominating the other two, substantially larger and arguably stronger clans. This led to them seizing the island and bringing an immediate end to the war.
During the relatively short peace time, the Arizu clan spent much of their time further developing the style, incorporating useful elements of the Kenshi and Xiphos styles into it also. Taking it to the point that mastery of over twenty other sword arts and martial arts are required to master it. After yet another war the Arizu style was finally refined to a devastating level and it became what is today. The style mainly revolves around blade control and manipulation of an opponents own movements. Practitioners are usually quite easy to recognize to an experienced swordsman, due to the vicious looking sickle weapons that they utilize, making the manipulation of an enemy blade even more efficient. The mainstay of Arizu style weaponry consists of the Mambele, Shotel, Khopesh, Falx, Falcata, Rhomphaia, Makraka, Scythes. Even weapons like the Kama and Kurasigama, which were borrowed from the Kenshi.
The hand to hand aspect of the Arizu style is heavily influenced by ancient Muay Thai and Silat techniques. Historians are baffled as to how, due to how foreign the Arizu isles are to their native countries and that during the time that this hand to hand styles usage was first documented with the technology available it would have been nigh on impossible for someone to reach the Arizu isles from that distance. The hand to hand elements of the Arizu style are also quite control based and practitioners are taught to disarm opponents with various weapons. It utilizes a vast array of brutal techniques, using the knees, fists, kicks and elbows to deliver crippling blows to various pressure points on the opponents body.
The mainstay of the style is all about control, control, control. The motto of the Arizu style and possibly the reason that it is renowned as such an intimidating and deadly style is as follows: "You control your opponent, you control their life."
Developed from the Mantis school of Arizu Style, the swordsmanship aspect Sayafa Abaraqa is mainly focused around using the odd shape of Aiza's sickle swords, to reach around and in between any defenses an enemy has and to great effect. On the defensive it focuses on threatening his opponents weak spots, opening up defensive gaps in other areas for Aiza to exploit, mainly focusing on disabling limbs. The sickle-like shape of the blades also allow him to manipulate enemy weapons, while defending. Possibly even disarming them mid-combat. Strikes to the neck, legs, arms and more specifically the various tendons around the body are the favored locations to attack.
Sayafa Abaraqa is modeled after two things. Aiza's deep respect for the dragon and his slight obsession with the power of lightning. Spending time studying the dragon, Aiza learnt many things from the way they combat each other. Due to the nature of their serpentine bodies, when a pair of dragons are engaged in physical combat they must carefully manipulate their opponents movement, whilst taking care their opponent doesn't manipulate their own. As soon as an opportunity presents itself, the dragon must immediately capitalize on it and they launch a vicious and decisive attack once it does. Since this falls quite parallel with the Arizu style in general, Aiza has adopted this as the main focus for his style, Sayafa Abaraqa. Aiza takes the control elements of Arizu style to the next level, using this style to perform a deep analysis of his opponents movements as he controls their attacks, taking care to note patterns and certain aspects of their form, giving him a deeper understanding of their taught fighting style and a deeper understanding of their personal style. Once he has picked out vulnerabilities in their defense, Aiza strikes hard and as fast, looking to bring the battle to a close in one decisive maneuver.
