× General Information
Name: Jodocus Gender: Male Age: 16 Height: 5’ 6” Weight: 125 lb Species: Human Appearance: Jodocus is small of stature, and thinly built. His eyes are dots of green on his pale and freckled face, though his unruly long auburn hair often shadows them. Near the base of his neck, a scar of what looks to have been a fourth-degree burn can be seen peeking through his shirt collar. Further examination would reveal that the burn continued onto his chest in the shape of a handprint. He tends to wear black and red clothing that is just loose enough to not frame his physique.

Background
Birthday: August 13 Personality: Neither one to trust nor be trusted, Jodocus serves his personal agenda above all else. In general, this tends to mean that he will drop anything at the opportunity of a thrill, be it in the form of a risky endeavor or bloody fight. Oddly enough, despite, or maybe due to, his unfortunate upbringing, Jodocus values the lives of others and will often make an effort to avoid killing another, or even save another if the circumstances permit it. This, however, does not mean that he has any qualms about stealing from or injuring others. Origin: Born into slavery by parents he never knew, Jodocus was raised from a young age with the purpose of becoming an expendable laborer for some unknown master. Despite a difficult upbringing, Jodocus made the best of his situation, befriending many of his fellow slaves. After all, if he was going to spend the rest of his days laboring at their sides, he might as well know and like them, but unknown to him, he wasn’t going to be a menial laborer forever. Only a few years after he had begun working, when he was around the age of 13, he was bought by a low level crimelord, Boss Quirke, who had very different intentions for the boy. At first, Jodocus assumed the change in masters was a result of his insufficient strength. The boy was small for his age and, as so, was far less useful than his peers; maybe the masters had finally realized they could not whip him into a stronger. This was not the case as Jodocus soon discovered that the new master had also purchased essentially all of the younger male laborers that his former master had owned, numbering 200 boys. What a minor crimelord would need so many slaves for, nobody could imagine, but it couldn’t mean anything good. As it happened, Boss Quirke had recently recruited a weak nen user to his gang and, impressed by this employee’s effectiveness, sought to make more nen users to fill the ranks of his gang and thus increase his power. Aware of the high cost of nen users and the low cost of slaves, Boss Quirke resolved that it would be far more cost effective for him to use the nen user in his employ to turn slaves into nen users loyal to him rather to hire accomplished, or even unaccomplished, nen users. Had the nen user in his employ been more experienced, the plan might have worked better, but instead, the initiation was rough and bloody. One by one, the boys fell to the ground, the amount of aura used to force their nodes open too great for their body’s to handle. In the end, 163 of the slaves had died, and those who had survived all bore injuries from the experience. Jodocus was among the survivors, as was one of his better friends, Akio, but the rest lay dead. Stage one was complete. The training that followed could’ve been accomplished with far fewer casualties, but their instructor, the nen user, was determined that quality was more important than quantity. The severely injured were the first to go, meeting agonizing demises as a warning to the others: weakness was not tolerated. Unfortunately, Jodocus was weak, and he knew it. Had Jodocus been on his own, he would’ve been the next, but he wasn’t alone. Akio helped Jodocus every step of the way through the training, oftentimes receiving lashings and torture for carrying Jodocus with him when he could’ve done far better on his own, but Akio continued to help him regardless. Thanks to Akio, they both made it through stage two and developed their hatsus. Only 12 of the 200 slaves had survived to this point. There was only one more test before they would be turned over to Boss Quirke for use in the field, the test of loyalty and resolve. What better way to test as much than to turn the slaves against one another with orders to kill. The nen user who had trained them was cruel, this much Jodocus had already known, but he had never expected the man to pair Jodocus with Akio for the deathmatch. Neither was truly ready to die, nor were they ready to kill a friend, and yet they faced this impossible choice. It was undeniable, Jodocus owed the victory to Akio. After the first few hits, Jodocus knew that Akio wasn’t committed to the fight. He was probably still straining his mind trying to figure a way that they could both survive; there was no way. Jodocus understood this first. He was a realist. That’s why he won. The look of betrayal in Akio’s eyes was terrifying in the moment when he realized that Jodocus was serious, that he truly intended to kill the friend who had saved his life selflessly. That look stayed with Jodocus long after the fight, but it had not stayed his hand from delivering the final blow. Six strong, they stood before Boss Quirke, now not only survivors, but killers as well. They were at last ready to take orders and advance the sinister man’s criminal agenda, with the exception of one. The first opportunity he found, Jodocus ran, leaving the boss, the slaves, the trainer, and Akio all behind. Although he didn’t leave the criminal life behind, Jodocus had no intention of wasting his freedom; after all, he had paid for it with the blood of a friend. History:

Hatsu Affinity: Manipulation

Hatsu Theme: Sound Manipulation General Hatsu Description: General Hatsu Conditions:
Hatsu Abilities Hatsu Name: Sound Steal Type: Manipulation Hatsu Category: Supportive Hatsu Rank: 3 Description: The user is able to draw all sound waves to him within a certain range. This has a variety of effects, allowing for better audio-based perception of the user due to the sound being drawn towards him, allowing for better audio concealment for the user and anyone closer to him than the person they are concealing their sound from, and allowing for the storage of sound waves in the body of the user as this is where those that are attracted to him continue to reverberate for the effect of the Hatsu. Due to the indiscriminate nature of the Hatsu and its effect of storing sound waves in the body of the user, prolonged use of this ability threatens great injury on the body, as bones are prone to shattering when vibrated by their natural frequency’s or by a close frequency of greater magnitude. Items on the user’s body are also vulnerable to being distorted or shattered by continuous use of this ability. The ability can be maintained for a maximum of 10 posts, but after about 7 posts within a wilderness environment or 4 posts in a loud, urban environment, the risk of injury and amount of fatigue from the technique increases exponentially. The amount of posts it takes to reach this point is greater the more silent the environment. The sound is not drawn perfectly, meaning that if you are within a meter of someone, you will still hear them as normal, but any farther and the sound is stolen before you can perceive it. Conditions: To activate the ability, the user must hold a finger to their lips, in the gesture for silence, and keep it there for as long as the ability is maintained. This does not, however, bar the user from making noise. The user becomes increasingly prone to bone shattering or item on their person shattering the longer the ability is maintained. If too much sound is stolen at once, the user can be temporarily deafened, decreasing accuracy by accuracy/2. Range: 3/2 Aura (Meters) in air, 5/2 Aura (Meters) in water, and 3 Aura (Meters) in metal. Varying ranges are due to differing speeds of sound between substances. Effect: Sound is drawn to the user for the duration. Cooldown: Duration/2 posts with a minimum of 1 post.
Hatsu Name: Grand Focus Type: Manipulation Hatsu Category: Supportive Hatsu Rank: 3 Description: The user is able to focus all sound that comes from him, and only him, to a specific point. This sound includes any noise he makes by brushing against something or moving in general, any noise he makes with his voice, and any noise released from storage by his Sound Steal Hatsu. While active, every ounce of noise he makes will sound like it comes from the focus point he chooses. This can have the effect of amplifying a sound as it is entirety is emitted from a single point. This ability cannot be active at the same time as Sound Steal. Conditions: The Sound Steal can not be active at the same time as the Grand Focus. To activate the ability, the user must look at the point where he intends to focus the sound, hold two fingers with a slight gap between them, and force the noise through them. The wider the gap between his fingers, the less focused the noise. Conversely, the thinner the gap and the louder the noise, the greater the damage sustained by the user’s fingers. At higher levels, this ability has been known to tear the skin off of fingers, and if repeated on greatly injured fingers, the fingers themselves can be lost. This ability only lasts for a single post. Range: 3/2 Aura (Meters) in air, 5/2 Aura (Meters) in water, and 3 Aura (Meters) in metal or visible range, whichever of the two is smaller. Effect: Sound emitted from the user is redirected and focused to a point of the user’s choosing. Cooldown: 1 post

[12/16]Techniques Technique Name: Perfect Pitch Technique Category: Musicianship Type: Supportive Range: Audio Range Technique Rank: 4 Description:An ability greatly valued in musicians, the user is able to pinpoint heard pitches and reproduce them with their voice or an instrument. This includes an object’s natural frequency, or the pitch at which it is most vulnerable to being shattered or deformed given that the noise is loud enough. [b[Technique Name[/b]: Echolocation Technique Category: Musicianship Type: Supportive Range: Audio Range Technique Rank: 8 Description: The user is able to emit high frequency noises and, judging by the time it takes for the sound to bounce back, perceive where objects are in relation to him whether they be in front of him or behind him. The noise used sounds like a high chirp and is perceivable by people. The user must continuously chirp to get a continuous picture of his surroundings. To use this ability, the user must have unobstructed vocal capabilities and audio capabilities.
