" Looks like everything's in order, I'm happy to welcome the two of you to the NGL. I hope you enjoy your stay" Finally ending the arduous processes that they had been through for the past three days, the two Hunters had their bodies cleared through X-Rays and all manner of bodily check in order to keep all non-natural contaminates outside of the country. With their examinations finally over, the older Hunter, Kozen Marimo and his apprentice, Hiro Jiuonka, had been accepted into the NGL. They had arrived for two reasons, one two complete Hiro's training, having only months prior learned Nen, he had spent his time up until the present traveling the world, hoping to hone his skills the natural way with experience. Returning to his master a changed man, he had agreed to completing his training by forming a hatsu, his own expression of his aura. Trained by the Two-Star Head Hunter, Hiro has learned the basic very quickly, combined with an eagerness to learn and a strong ability to use his aura, he had followed suit by mastering the advanced techniques. He had passed the minimum requirement to become a Gourmet Hunter, now all that was left was for him to use his hatsu and he would strong enough to take on the world, in his master's words. The other reason was to make a name for himself, with such a small country like the NGL, information was difficult to pass by natural means; taking even weeks to send letters between villages. Hiro would make a name for himself by discovering delicious ingredients in the NGL, an untapped resource, and sell the information to numerous sources. He would be able to show the worth and beauty of the small country with his cooking, and likely bring himself a Reputation by completing it. " What's first master?" "First we run" |

"Wait master! I cant use Ryu like you do, my Sappo is still too inexperienced" "Every second I slow down another level you lose in your training; I'd be a poor teacher if I didnt keep you constantly learning more" Sappo was a technique fairly common among the older Hunters of the organization, back when their was not widespread transportation Nen users had to travel by foot only. With a brilliant use of Ryu and Ren it lead to the creation of Sappo, or stroll. Even an amateur could travel several kilometers in a manner of minutes before getting winded. For Hiro and his master, they had brought that average up to about 50 kilometers before getting winded. By the time Hiro had worn himself out, they were roughly 46 kilometers away from their starting point, taking only an hour or so to complete. "That alcohol really did its work on me, my body never used to be this weak" "Master you're still stronger then me as a drunkard, you've got nothing to worry about" " Well now that we're both tired, lets see how well you fight, my apprentice, so me what you've learned in the past 3 months" Taking a fighting stance, his master had awakened his Ren, charging his body with his own aura, he kept it to a low level so that he could match Hiro's own abilities. With master and apprentice fighting on equal ground, the one with the greater skill would win. For added insurance, Kozen called his hatsu to life, summoning his Aura Winner Finder hatsu, the winner of the match would be granted the aura of the loser. |

" Good aura, im glad you haven't been neglecting your daily training" " Youre aura is still as scary as ever Master, I dont think my techniques can even hurt you" Comparing Ren, Kozen had at least twice as much aura as Hiro did, channeling all of it through his body , he had prepared himself for battle. Hiro copied his stance, out of principle from months of his training, the young Hunter had derived his fighting style from his masters. Hiro struck first, throwing a careful offense of feints and jobs at Kozen in order to test his master's reaction. In response, Kozen had replied with simply increasing the aura in his hands, blocking the string of punches and avoiding the feints, he had nullified his students aura with his own. With a quick punch he had packed with Gyo, he knocked his student off his feet and to the floor with a barely a movement. "Good, you threw up a Ken the exact second you ended your attack because you couldn't see mine. " "You move too fast for me to read your aura, all I could do was use Ken" " That's good keep up the offensive, if im the defensive, the less likely I am to risk moving my aura into a Gyo or Ko. You're fighting someone stronger with you; you gotta play smart, not dangerously" Hiro used a quick burst of Gyo within his eyes in order to check the flow of his master's aura, with is still well-rounded in all manners, Hiro could not do damage with anything other then a Ko. His master, a more skillful and experience fighter, he left himself no openings, and with the continuous use of their aura, it was likely that Hiro could give out before Kozen did. |

"If I cant read his attacks, then i'll have to focus on a steady offense to catch him off-guard" Switching tactics, Hiro supplied a greater aura to his legs then his arm, in order to make his attacks more difficult to defend against, he lead in with a charging kick, which was easily defended by his teachers hand, grabbing his student's foot, Hiro immediately reacted, flinging a rock laced with Shu at his teacher, he hoped to distract him enough to get away. Reacting for a second, he loosened his grip on Hiro and knocked the rock out of the way before it hit him. Dropping to the floor in front of his teacher. He maneuvered his legs around his teacher, and guarding his body with Ken, he uprooted him by extending his body upwards, forcing him upwards as Hiro's footwork pushed his legs out from under him. "Nice Hiro!" Pushed upwards, Kozen was left open to an attack just before he was able to touch back down on the ground. Hiro struck back with a string of punches, each one constantly aimed at his teachers face, adding more aura to their hands in order to match each other, the traded blow after blow, each jab knocked away by Kozen just as another came in from the opposite side. Hiro watched his master as they continued their engagement, with more aura then normal in his hands, then he had to have removed it from somewhere else. Taking a wild guess, he assumed that he had left his torso weaker in order to protect his arms better. Changing the trajectory of his next attack, he turned his jab into an uppercut, striking his opponent just below his arms reach, the attack had dealt some damage but not nearly enough to make a difference. "Amazing! You broke my guard and struck me in a vital spot, if we were closer in level that attack would have debilitated me." " Sorry master, my aura is starting to wane, I cant keep with you anymore" " Its alright, Nen Battles use up about ten times the aura of practicing, to keep up with me for 10 minutes has already proved you've become a great deal stronger. I'll concede to you this round" Kozen's hatsu, Aura Winner Finder, was a special orb that flew about the fighters and absorbed the aura that was used in fights and stored it within the crystal. Once the winner was decided via Nen Battle, the aura that was used up would go to the winner, allowing the winner to regain all the aura they lost, as well as the winners aura to greatly increase their strength. Kozen had created a condition that allowed him to concede, allowing his opponent to win in exchange for some extra aura. As the winner, Hiro was immediately empowered by the winners aura, greatly increasing his amount of aura by twice what he normally had. "Use Ten quickly my apprentice, otherwise you'll just lose all the aura you had just regained. Now we'll begin with the final step in your training, your Hatsu" |

" Geez, this is hard, how do you handle this much aura?" Struggling with his Ten, Hiro tried to focus on his meditations in order to regain control of the aura he had just been given, with well over twice the normal amount of aura in his aura pool, he fought to keep his own Nen from escaping entirely, not including the extra that he had just received. " Its a tactic. If my opponent can't even handle their own Ten, then i can strike back with a Ko while they're trying to maintain their aura. I've won a few fights with only that condition, for you to even hold this much is amazing." Eventually Hiro was able to regain a state of Ten around his body, after loosing most of the extra aura he had received, what was left was added to his own aura pool. Upon completing that exercise, Kozen had prepared another. Asking his apprentice to follow him to a shady grove of trees just beyond the field they has trained in, relaxing int he glade, he allowed Hiro to relax before they continued with the next step of training. |

"A glass of water?" Continuing his exercise in Ten, Hiro had finally managed to quell the aura that had been escaping; he could feel the power of his Nen overflowing from winning the fight against his master, though the power was only temporary, he was confident that he would be much stronger for the lessons ahead. His master placed a regular glass of water on the ground in front of Hiro; placing a small leave at the center of it it, he stepped back and waited patiently, knowing Hiro would question him as to the purpose of the water. "This is how we determine a student's Hatsu Affinities. When you use Ren on the glass of water, it will determine what your strongest affinity is. From there we will decide the next best course for your training to take" " I've heard about this, you're Conjuration aren't you master?" " Yes, I can use my aura my create real objects, that's the strength of Conjuration. Now use your Ren my apprentice, that way we can begin working on your hatsu category" Placing his hands at the sides of the glass of water, he began transmitting his aura and expelling it with Ren, the aura began to move quickly between his hands, and yet the glass did not show any noticeable sign of change. He was then told to stop by his master, seemingly in failure. "Taste the water" Touching the water to his tongue, he could taste a very bitter taste to the water, like green tea. By all appearances the water was normal, though it suddenly had a different flavor. "Its bitter, what does that mean?" "It means your strongest affinity is in Transmutation. You have the ability to give your aura the properties of another substance." " How is that useful as a Hatsu, wouldn't Reinforcement or Emission be more useful?" " No one hatsu category is better then the others, Transmutation can do things that I can't, for example. Transmuters are great at shaping aura, while my hatsu is stuck in this single form" "But now how do I make a hatsu knowing im a Transmuter?" " We can begin the specialized training, however your hatsu is completely up to your creation, I cant help with creating it" |

" The first level of training is Shape Transmutation. Try to shape your aura into numbers, simple as that my apprentice" "Okay, i'll start with my Ren" Passing aura across his body with Ren, he lifted his hands towards each other, trying to focus his aura on his fingertips, he struggled to maintain a shape to his aura, focusing more intently, he began to form a mass of aura on the tip of is finger like an orb. He started first by shaping his Nen into a zero, the easiest number to create, putting more thought and action into the shape of his aura, he was able to form a crude, but noticeable zero just above his finger. "Good, now continue through the numbers up to nine and that's all we'll do today" "Why? Im still brimming with aura right now" " We have other things to accomplish while we're here Hiro, you need to work on creating your recipes, and doing specialization training too frequently will simply overtax your mind and stunt the training, we'll do it once everyday once we've completed our combat training, and our daily Ten and Ren exercises" Continuing through the Transmutation exercise, Hiro had spent two hours and exhausted his concentration to get up to the number nine, completing the exercise, but not in nearly enough time. Kozen had set the time to be under a second between each number, and it was clear that he had a long way to go before his training would be complete. |

- Day 5 - Warping the aura around his hand, Hiro could see the numbers take shape a centimeter above his finger, running through the sequence in his head, his aura began to take the shape of the idea he had in his head, responding by going upwards in number until he reached nine, at which point he rescended it back into his Ten. " Good! Level 1 is complete, and in record time" " But it took me 5 days to learn it! How much harder is it going to get from here?" Sitting across from each other, they had entered into a meditative stance, over the past 5 days they had done all manner of exercise, from sparring to increasing his aura with constant Ren; Under the guidance of his master, the young Hunter had already greatly exceeded the growth he had made in those six months. " Nothing about being a Hunter is easy, your En and In need a little work, but at Level 2 most students see their Hatsu manifest itself." " What?! My En is perfect, and my In is... adequate.." "You can only use En for a few seconds before you have to stop, and you cant even use In fully yet, stand up for a second Hiro" Following his master's commands Hiro stood up from his meditative position. His master responded by drawing something from his pocket, a simple wooden box made up of ornate bark with etchings scrawled across the surface. With an observative Gyo Hiro could tell the box was completely normal, and otherwise looked like a jewelry box. "Level 2 training is an Item Transmutation, use Shu to give this box the properties of your aura. Its very likely that whatever unique properties your aura naturally has will manifest at this level.
