× General Information
Name: Alistair Lace Gender: Male Age: 24 Height: 6 foot Weight: 170 lb Species: Human Appearance:
Image
Profession: Paranormal Hunter Reputation: 0 (Rank H)
Background Birthday: November 8th Personality: Alistair is not known for his kindness, he feels strongly towards family and if he sees others being abused or controlled by their family he will take action. He is not cold hearted but just does not go out of his way to help someone unless it benefits himself in some way. He is as close to neutral as one can get. Origin : Alistair was born deep in the Shibitzu Island to a group that resides only inside of the forest very few ever leave and they kill anyone who even comes close to their village hidden in the jungle. Every member of this tribe is taught about nen almost as soon as they can speak and read, this however is not awakening the nodes or training them to awaken them. They also had a rare gene that gave them red eyes which was all it was, red eyes. (no special powers like Kurapika) It is actually very frowned on for someone to learn it before the age of ten. Alistair was one of 15 children that his father had birthed, only 4 of them were full blooded. The Men in this tribe could have any woman they wanted and it was a woman’s job to clean, cook, and give birth to the children. The tribe worshiped the transparent snakes making them almost gods in their eyes even though most knew that they were nothing more than snakes. Alistair was the second oldest in his family having a older sister and two younger ones. When the children turned ten was when they were taught nen, and this was through baptizing them. The elders would all gather around the children and all at once pump as much aura into their body as they could. Two to three elders were manipulators and they made sure that they bodies were not destroyed in the process. The chief which was always a specialist affinity nen user would change a body part of the child’s skin into translucent skin. This was the mark of the tribe. If the child died then they moved on to the next, but the process had been honed so well very few ever died from it. The next test came when the child turned sixteen, the child would have to fight their father, if a woman fought and lost she lived and became nothing more than a birthing factory and her nen was sealed up by the shaman. The males however had to win in mortal combat with the father if they failed they died, however if a male child killed their father all of that males children were free to do whatever it is they wanted to do, even leave the tribe. This rarely happened however, but a third option could be chose and that was to have their nen sealed up and just provide DNA for the tribe to survive. It had become very common for the son’s to turn down the fight and seal away their nen. Alistair hated this tribe and how it worked and so when he turned 10 he was mentally prepared for the test, he vowed to survive it so that he could have the power to kill his father and protect the rest of his siblings. The ceremony went off without a hitch and they changed his right arm’s skin completely transparent leaving the muscles to be seen. His older sister was only one year older than him, which gave him only 5 years to become strong enough to kill his father in cold blood. He however had been secretly training his body at night to at least give him a bigger edge then what his father thought, hoping to use the father’s ego against him. His second blessing was the affinity of materialization because it meant that his powers could be the most unique and hard to predict. He traveled deep into the heart of the nearby ruins and found what looked to be a throne room and in it sat a scythe made of unique materials. Examining it he realized that it was far to weak to be used as a real weapon but he would make it his own. He spent months strudying it and making it part of his very being, when after a year he was able to manifest it, but to his surprise it was alive and conscious. It doned the persona of a long dead king even though it was not, it wanted true life more then anything. Words entered Alistair’s head as he viewed the scythe with gyo and saw the aura around it pulse when he heard the words. What scared him most however was that he could feel his aura being drained into the weapon. Quickly he tossed it across the room but his gyo was still active and the link was still there. In a panic he attempted to dismiss the weapon and nothing happen minus small chuckling. The scythe went on to explain that he was the spirit of a long lost king and was now revived partially in this scythe and that this weapon would siphon not only Alistairs aura but anyone who he hit with it and once he attained enough aura he would be fully revived. That was the price Alistair now had to pay to kill his father. Of course the thing was delusional and he was not a spirit. So the next 3 years the two worked together to both strengthen Alistair and bond with each other. They both understood that they needed each other and that if Kraven killed Alistair he too would die. It was a parasitic relationship but they made it work. Luckily he was able to unsummon the scythe after Kraven gave him permission; however the aura was still being drained away. So Kraven stated if he did not summon him out every other day at the least he would drain his entire aura and kill them both. This was coming from a man who was already dead and had nothing to lose. Finally the day had come and the fight had started between his sister and his father. Alistair had hope for his sister but only slight as he watched the two fight. She was doing well but was nowhere near strong enough to fend off the father who had been using nen for 30 years. Once she was down for the count he told her to give up or die and she spat blood at him and chose death. That was when Alistair through off his cloak and stepped between the two. The scythe formed in his hands and a few of the older men gasped noticing it from the ancient history from the ruins. With quick movements and using the shock value to attack he got three good cuts into his father aura being sucked into the scythe. His father turned on him and charged up his full attack wanting to kill Alistair in one hit. “The Ghost of the past protects me.” Alistair stated as his body seemed to go completely translucent and the attack sailed through his body. It was over in an instant when he formed back scythe cleanly cutting his father’s head off. His father’s entire aura seeped into the scythe its aura growing darker and more sinister. Severing the hand he attached it to a cord and hung it on his neck. “My family is free to choose their fate, you force them to do anything else and I will come back and wipe you from this planet.” He vowed as he and his sister left the tribe, they were both banished for life. The two traveled for three years together and in that time Alistair passed the hunters exam and took out a big enough loan that his sister could live comfortably doing whatever she wanted. He spent the next seven years repaying the loans he took out doing various jobs here and there, most however being paranormal based because of his 6th sense.. Now he was debt free and was ready to set off and figure out what to do with his life. Kraven still didn’t have enough aura to revive, but the he never was able to gain much in storage due to the need to use the built up nen to keep them alive in fights. History:

× Nen Techniques
Basic Nen Techniques
Hatsu Affinity: Materialization
[6/6] [0/0]
Hatsu Theme: King Kraven General Hatsu Description: Most if not all of his powers are in conjuncture with the semi-revived King Kraven aka his scythe General Hatsu Conditions: Must be holding scythe and must say some kind of phrase and typically pay X amount of his remaining life.
Hatsu Techniques Technique Name: King Kraven Noral Type: Offensive/Definsive/Supportive Technique Category: Materialization Technique Rank: 3 Description: Alistair summons a scythe (in picture) that has been cursed by a long lost King. It is roughly 8 feet long and the blade is over 5 feet long. King Kraven’s soul and spirit have been summoned with it giving the scythe sentience, it can talk via telepathy but to everyone with hearing range which is equal to that of normal human hearing distance. Kraven can choose to not allow Alistair the ability to use the scythes powers or unsummon the scythe. Conditions: 1.) Must say “Arise King Kraven” 2.) Must have room to summon scythe in hand, so cramped spaces it would not be able to appear. 3.) Let King Kraven leech off of his aura even when not summoned. 4.)King Kraven can only store 6 total aura at any given time. 5.) If the weapon is maxed out on aura cutting someone will cause all the charges to be expended and start all over again. Range: 7 ft or so (range of scythe) and self Effect: Alistair gets a Aura -2 debuff while Kraven is out, This is the price of its consciousness, Kraven can speak telepathically within range of normal hearing. He cannot speak to only one person at a time secretly its just like a person talking but with telepathy.
When a person is cut by Kraven they get a -1 aura is removed from their max and does not come back until the battle is over. This aura does not go to Alistair but is stored in the scythe indefinitely unless used for other purposes. The scythe can not take more then 1/3 of the victims total aura or more then half of Alistairs max aura score, whichever is lowest. EX: So if someone with a aura of 16 was fighting Alistair, he could only take 5 aura from him and since half of Alistair's aura is 7 it works. But if someone had a max aura of 24 then 1/3 of that would be 8 and thus half of Alistair's aura is the most he can drain from the person. Cooldown: None
Technique Name: Ghostly King Type: Definsive/Supportive Technique Category: Materialization Technique Rank: 3 Description: Alistair and Kraven use Alistair’s and Kraven’s aura that he has siphoned and together they both become intangible which allows them to move through objects as well as through aura. In this form nothing can hurt them and they are unable to hurt anyone either. Conditions: 1.) Must say “Ghost of the Pasts Protects Me.” 2.) Must have 6 aura in his scythe and it causes all of the aura to be drained at the same time. (so if he could take more then 6 it would cost at least 6 plus the rest of his aura) 3.) Every time Alistair uses this power Kraven drains half a year of his life away. (I will keep track of it) Range : Self Effect: Alistair and the scythe become intangible for 2 posts and they cannot be hurt by anything physical or aura based. On the same token they cannot deal out damage during this time either. They can walk through walls and other surfaces as well. Cooldown: 10 posts (after initial 2)
× Non-Nen Techniques
[10/16]Techniques Technique Name: Spinning Death Technique Category: Physical Type: offensive/defensive Range: 8 ft. Technique Rank: 5 Description:Alistair is able to spin his scythe around using both hands in extreme speeds causing anything physical to be knocked out of the way protecting him from ranged attacks. He can also use this as an offensive power to essentially saw through things or people who get caught in its path. Technique Name: Sleep Inhibition Technique Category: Physical Type: supportive Range: self Technique Rank: 5 Description:Alistair is able to go up to 4 days without sleep and function normally, after those 4 days he will start to get tired and if he has yet to sleep n 5 days he will crash and sleep an entire day.

Not going to review it in full now, but 6th Sense should be a hatsu as it basically is supernatural. Also, I particularly dislike that tech because it seems to assert that ghosts, spirits, and such exist when there is absolutely no reason to believe that is the truth in canon. If you were to say that it was a hatsu which can sense emotions/life from the remnants of the aura of a departed person reminiscent of communicating with a lingering ghost or if it were some kind of ability to see/hear into a different plain parallel to our own, then I would be ok with it since hatsu is capable of all kinds of amazing stuff like that.

That is fine, but just want to ask why there are such a thing as paranormal hunters if their are not such things as ghosts or spirits seems to me that its misleading... but again we can remove 6th sense all together.
Can I then have the item he found and learned to materialize have a nen curse on it in which caused part of the person's soul to come back with it and thus explain the rest?

A Paranormal Hunter is just a kind of hunter I created for my character and is not listed under the professions page in the rulebook like ones that have showed up in canon. I’m perfectly fine with you using it, but I meant it using the definition of paranormal as things that have no explanation yet. My character’s duties basically involve investigating and resolving various problems that can’t be explained through modern science (usually a result of nen or a Majiyu with strange powers), not going around exorcising ghosts, banishing demons, or communicating with the dead like an agent of the church- though normal people might mistake it for supernatural workings and they can be similar at times, so those are the kind of stories she seeks out. In fact, she and the team of paranormal hunters she works with are probably some of the biggest skeptics out there.
For the item he conjures, it can be alive if it’s a result of nen, but the point of materialization is kind of that it creates something from nothing, not summons one from a distance or something, so it doesn’t make much sense that he summons some kind of ancient weapon that had a king’s soul infused into it a long time ago. If it were just a conjured weapon that is self-aware and can communicate with others, then that would make more sense to me.

alrighty, but what i was trying to say was that the king left a nen curse on his scythe (which Alistair found and used to be his object to materialize) and thus that was how it happened.... again if thats not ok I can remove that part and still have the draining of the aura aspect and have it that the scythe just wants a human form and needs so much aura to accomplish this... if that is ok?

well the thing is if the sythe is stronger than a normal one it's going to be more expencive (either through monetairy price or through having to pay for an ability that makes the sythe stronger) so you account for that and if so: how?

zeph not sure what your talking about seeing as the scythe is manifested with Alistair's nen.... so yeah but if either power needs to be more thats not a problem, thats why its in app stage not accepted stage ^-^, not best at judging a powers rank and all that.

its a nen tech, forgot about that.
judging from the description in which you mention both aura being stolen and aure being bathered i am guessing you intend to use the sythe to take part of the enemie's aura and add it to your own correct?
such an effect would be tremendously powerfull and i doubt that rank 3 is enough for that. also the rather slight debuff of -2 on your aura isn't realy that much of a downside considering all you have to do to negate that debuff is hit your enemy.

Well its iffy now lol since i can't do the ghost thing but I essentially am going ot have the scythe be alive and it sucks the aura of others so that it can one day become a real person... silly scythe... I can make it a larger debufff as well maybe a percentage of his total aura and stuff and NO the aura does not go to him but to the scythe... Alistair does not have access to the scythes aura reserve it has to chose to let him use it, which can only be done if they do another hatsu, and with only one other hatsu if i can afford it that has such a long cooldown it makes that kind of useless in the way you are suggesting.
Hopefully that makes sense if not just let me know and I will try to reword it better... also if the two hatsu's could be combined as one I would not mind making it rank 1, just having the scythe by itself kind of makes him a useless character but if thats what you al feel then i will cut out the ghostly hatsu and get it later....
Also the half a year of his life gone each use is pretty steep price...

well the thing is the way you describe it it would be a permanent debuff. even if i were to accept the half year per use as a permanent price t weigh against the permenent benefit you stil wouldn't be able to use it against players since they have to agree to any permanent downsides.
permanency is realy an uncomfortable topic within the rules. also how many years does he have left?
