Okay, so in between studying for exams and going in for classes I've been playing my game of Civ, and what a game it's been. It was on my WWIII Map (You should be able to find it somewhere, ill probably grab the link in a minute) I was playing as one of the underdogs, the East Asians. They were worse than I remembered as for some reason half the cities (Including Seoul may I add, supposedly one of their super-cities) had no buildings in the city. Even worse, they had no Oil and Aluminium, meaning that they were thoroughly unprepared for preparing any form of military force. I didn't let this defer me. I acquired a source of Fine Canadian Oil off the British Commonwealth for some luxuries, a tech (I believe it was Rocketry or Fission) and a lump sum of around 500 gold. With this i built up an army of tanks, which along with a fleet of transports and battleship, allowed me to drop 6 boatfuls of tanks onto the Arabian Peninsula and southern Pakistan. Within two turns I had overrun Karachi, Dubai and Sana'a, and was moving my tanks into Saudi Arabia, primarily towards Mecca (the Arabs capital) and Riyadh. At this point I signed myself into an MPP with the British and the Europeans. The next turn came and the Arabs attacked me, catapulting the world into an offensive against the Muslims. I managed to take hold of Saudi Arabia and the Suez canal, in which time the EU had taken over Iran and Turkey (gaining the Mausoleum of Mausollos), and had razed Baghdad. This happened to hold the Hanging Gardens, permanently losing the structure to the fire-power of the Modern Armors and the hot desert sand. The EU took no hesitation in using the rail link around the Suez Canal (Its a weird canal in which while its only one tile thick, you can bypass the tile by going past it diagonally). They within a few turns had burnt down Alexandria (losing the world of the Great Lighthouse and the Great Library), and Tripoli, as well as sacking a town in the sahara. I landed some troops near Sharm-Al-Sheikh and took hold of the Red Sea resort, and used it to launch an assault on Cairo. This succeeded spectacularly. Around this time I gained some alumunium off the Latin Americans (costing me a luxury and the secrets of space flight, as well as my world map and a modest amount of gold per turn), and managed to draft them and the Africans into action. The Brits also razed Islamabad, and I airlifted some troops into Karachi and used the road infrastructure left to take Kabul. The next turn I imposed the draft and took my nation from Democracy into Corporation (a cross between democracy and communism, having some of the best and worst bits of both), this allowed me to have a considerable army of Mech Inf, which I airlifted into Sharm, and used to take Aswan and Khartoum, which I managed to do in 3 turns. This gave me full control of the Lower Nile. I then took Djibouti (renaming it oh-so maturely Djibouti had me like) and Al-Jawf, allowing the Africans to take Somalia (they already had Mogadishu and the city at the tip of the peninsula was resourceless). The Africans also claimed the desert town of Tamanrasset. I missed out (BY ONE TURN) building the Seti Programme, and so switched to the Apollo Programme, I cancelled my MPPs with Europe and Britain, the Europeans razed the town of Gafsa and signed a peace treaty with the Arabs the turn afterward. I used the vacant railroads to move my troops into the Atlas mountains, where i could begin to advance apon Algiers. My Algerian Assault was a great success, granting me control of the Straits of Gibraltar. I blew up an errant privateer and claimed the channel for myself with my battleships. The next turn I got my first Tactical Nuke, which I stationed in Osaka, ready to be ferried to North Africa by nuclear submarine (my mistake, it took 13 turns to get there), a few turns after Tokyo and Taipei built ICBMs, making me a nuclear power (beware evildoer, for my words are backed by nuclear weapons!) Since the only cities of note owned by the Arabs were Casablanca and Marrakesh, i decided not to nuke them, and instead used my Modern Armors to take them swiftly. That turn my MPP with the Latinos and the Arficans expired, so I sued for peace, gaining masses of gold, and three Artic settlements stupidly settled in Siberia by the Arabs in the quest for the Artic Circle that everyone but me and the Africans seemed to be competing in (I didn't know Cleveland and Baltimore were located on Baffin Island either) After this point time went slowly. I quickly built all but three of the components of my spaceship, (all those besides the Engine (which i decided for some stupid reason to locate in Jakarta, which is only my 10th best city), and the stasis chambers and fuel cells which needed Superconductor technology. With all this under my belt, I rushed into gaining the secrets of the superconductor and with a deal with the Eurasian people, I acquired Aluminium for over 2000 gold, 402gpt, a world map, and Genetics. Despite this, research still went along at a decent rate, I immediately built the stasis chambers in Taipei, and set Sendai to build the fuel cells. Everything went along at an alright pace (I even found out the cure of cancer in Tokyo, and I learnt about Smart Weapons and Stealth). The British signed peace on the turn before.... https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D5OgYPzDKp4 The Engine and the fuel cells finished on the same turn. I stood, a tear in one eye as I looked up at the heavens, and saw the gallant East Asian people skyrocket their way into the cosmos. In all honesty I have no clue how another country didn't build their rocket first, *looks at Europe in particular* but it was a fun game.
