There has, unfortunately been another American school shooting. Although it resulted in only 2 injuries and no mortalitys I really, honestly believe the Goverment cant ignore this now, and introduce some gun control laws. This isn't the 1900s anymore, people don't need to defend themselves on long journeys through the western deserts, or fear invasion by the spanish or the british. Anyway what do you think on this matter? |

I'm not quite sure on where I stand with the whole gun control thing as a whole, but I do support universal background checks, smaller clip/magazine sizes, and things like that. Ya wanna buy a gun? That's fine with me, but I think little regulations like what I mentioned would be helpful. |

Yeap, I can understand small guns, an ones without that much power, but anything that would take 2 shots or less to kill, even if aimed fairly well should be illegalised. Here in the UK, the only guns that can be bought are shotguns and air-guns, and for the former you still need a liscense. |

lol guns. In all seriousness, regulation is necessary, the big problem is that the gun lobby is an ass, and a whole lot of people lurve that 2nd Amendment. |

The 2nd amendment can be overridden, I was reading up on it. Gun Crime in the US is one o the worst in the industrialised world. I think it's dumb, an not fit for the modern world. It's based on an English law set after the English Civil War, but we now have one of the most restrictive laws on guns in the western world. If we can change, the US can change, that's my 2 pence worth |

I don't think you're getting the problem here: 'gun-rights' are ridiculously institutionalised. The gun lobby in the US is extremely powerful and wealthy, having a lot of members and quite the influence in the US Congress. You're not going to easily pass any sort of sensible gun regulation under these circumstances unless you live in a bleeding-heart liberal kind of state (not called Vermont, that is). Whether gun crime is too damn high in the US doesn't matter: they just won't give up easily. One year after Newtown has barely changed anything. And constitutional amendments can only be 'over-ridden' by amending the constitution again. Same thing as happened with Prohibition. And getting congress, let alone the states to agree on a constitutional amendment is a pain in the butthole. |

An outright ban would be unconstitutional (2nd Amendment), most they could do are some regulations, but really it's about pushing the limit of interpretation of the 2nd Amendment: to what extent is the right to bear arms guaranteed? Singapore outright bans guns, although there were a few funny cases of when some people who were doing their National Service brought their guns back home and got into pretty deep trouble. |

I live in California. We have a month waiting period for either buying the gun or the bullets. I can't remember which. Also, if I remember right, in California, you have to have a license to own a gun and another to carry a gun with you. |

Well that's something I guess. I found a gut article detailing the basis of our gun laws. Modern Semi automatic guns are completely banned, and most guns are shotguns held in rural areas for scaring off/killing pests. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10220974 |
