The most recent minecraft update combines multiplayer and singalplayer minecraft together by allowing people to join singal player worlds. How will this effect our server and other servers is the question.

Personally I think this update is stupid, old pc's that can't do servers are now going to be laggy because they have to run the server files. As far as our server, I really don't know

Well, it means the server finally doesn't need that crappy piece of junk Hamachi.
Not to mention old pc's generally have a lot of trouble running Minecraft anyway.

Sounds pretty cool not having to go through the whole Hamachi mess. This definitely all sounds good to me.

I think so, although we can probably share the world around a bit or something.

We should still be able to use regular mc servers... What about all the hosted bukkit servers?

I'm not sure, actually. I do know that you can share texture packs through this new update, but mods generally make you dig into the .jar file, so I don't think you'll be able to. In the best case, you need to have the same mods and still be able to play multiplayer and the game will crash if you don't or something. In the worst case, you can only play vanilla multiplayer. If that's the case, they'll have to implement a good modding system as soon as possible.

Why are the messing with something that works? Yeah, it's buggy and far from perfect, but the more they tinker with this game the worse the bugs get.
