The thing with religion is that you can't disprove it, though, for it is based fully on believing it. Science can prove whatever they want, if religious people say they don't believe it, religion hasn't been disproven. Science shouldn't try to disprove religion, because it's useless to do so. The think about religion that infuriates me is that it seems they want to stop progression. Nearly everything that science discovers that might be ethically bad, but good in the long run (cloning, genetic modification) is immediately disregarded by the Church (oh, and animal right activists and environmentalists...). |

'Yah those damn animal rights activists! Stealing my right to eat genetically modified beef!' And then again, science is not the one going against religion- religion is (most of the time) going against science. Religion is like a roadblock made of titanium that is blocking the road of scientific progress. I can go on about this all day, but there are more interesting things in life then to be bothered by fundamentalists. |

I definitely see religion in the U.S. being of fading importance in following decades. However, Christianity won't go away so easily. The fundies manage to breed and raise their own in such insulated little communities that the new members are raised wrapped up in that world. Us rational ones just have to do what we can to keep these people away from power. |

Their influence is still kind of surprising, right-wing radio personalities, television evangelists, tea-party members, and a whole lot of fundamentalist organisations in america. For once, it feels good to live in a 'one-party' county that restricts freedom of speech (O.o), at least the Singapore 'Gahmen' is secular and if some church pastor were to make any offensive comments on another religion, it gets to the headlines of the state news and the pastor has to apologise to everyone. Then again, there's not much freedoms.... that's why everyone goes to the internet to exercise their freedom of speech

The televengelicals and right-wing radio personalities might seem like they have a lot of influence, but the majority of Americans just laugh at those clowns. Freedom of Speech is definitely a double-edged sword. Maybe once I launch my political channel I'll talk about how too much freedom is not a good thing because that is something I certainly believe. |

Sigh. The more you think about it, the world is still a conservative and fundamentalist mess. We look too much into our past, and practically never look into the future. |

That's why there's freedom of speech, so that the government can listen to the complaints of the people. Not like it really helps. |

I still wonder what kind of 'freedoms' people will sacrifice with the healthcare bill. It's not even universal healthcare, it's just health insurance for those that could not afford it... |
