I always wondered about the American education system. It looks very different from mine. Anyone can help by explaining stuff?

Basically, I am wondering what determines what grade you are at. I have no idea how to phrase this. URRGH.

Basically, take your age on the previous August, subtract 5, and that is the grade you are in.

August? So King is currently in Grade 8? And formal education starts at 5 in America?

I was rather confused. I guess that is because the school year in my country starts in January. Btw, this is OT, but how difficult exactly are tests and exams in America? Since to get an A, you must get 90% and above.... I only need 70%.

TBH, when it says you have to be 13, i think it means are you mature like an average 13 yr old.

I found high school to be extremely easy, especially in retrospect. All I had to do was sit in a room for an hour, pretend to pay attention while doodling, go to another room and pretend to pay attention there, repeat for about six times, then go home. Most of the tests were very easy. And then when I got to college I found the gen-ed courses there to be even easier. Can't say too much about major courses because I never made it that far...

And tests here in singapore are not very easy. Juggling two different languages seem to be the problem- I was never really good in Chinese BTW.

When you say easy, what do you mean by easy? Like are the maths questions in Grade 8 for ten-year olds and science questions for babies? I don't know, but most people cannot survive by slacking in Singapore- we must actually STUDY.

I dunno, cause in my district, the teachers are rough, and they seem to make the tests hard. Of course, it is to be expected to have harder classes when you are in an accelerated class.
