http://www.youtube.com/user/LeslieSpike Hello folks. You could say my musical career began on the evening of December 24, 1992, when I got my first little electric piano at the age of six. Almost immediately I began picking up music and shortly thereafter I started writing songs. I have written hundreds of songs over my life, several dozen of which I will be showing to you on the Leslie Spike channel as time goes on! The name Leslie Spike comes from a conversation I had with VincentVanMike back in November 2009. I had just bought a new bass guitar, and we were thinking about a name. "What about a unisex name?" we thought. At the very same time, I said "Leslie" and he said "Spike". (I'm not sure why Mike thought Spike was unisex). The name just clicked right then and there and has since been my rock star name! So far the vast majority of my songs have been written using MIDI. The instruments are computerized, and the songs were created by placing notes one at a time in the program. (There was obviously cutting and pasting involved too). In the future, I hope to make more songs with "real" instruments, including live vocals, as well as re-record these MIDI songs with new instruments. I will ask you to please ignore the MIDI quality of the songs and imagine that a real band is playing these computerized instruments. That is the way to truly see what I was trying to present with each of my songs. Also, the saxophone represents the vocalist, usually pitched up an octave. Enjoy the music! A new "Old Song" will be uploaded every Friday. It will com either from the Old Vault (2006-2008) or the Very Old Vault (2001-2004). Edited by bonecanoe86, Jan 31 2011, 11:17 PM.

Well after listening to Cool Mountain Stream, you have left a great impression on me. I wasn't sure what to expect from this channel, but this was just, WOW. It was so great, I subbed and I see a future for this channel. And to think that there is more great songs. I enjoyed listening to this song and as musically intelligent person (I can talk about what I mean in the future), I heard all different things going on and you seemed to do all of them excellently. While I may be good at playing my trumpet and recognizing all different musical elements well, I would never be able to compose music. Keep up the great work!!! |

Wow. Simply wow. I don't suppose any other term can describe a feeling of sheer awe. Bonecanoe/Suddenplant/Ian, this music is amazing. It's brilliant. What more can I say? This definitely warrants a subscription at the very least. |

Thank you everyone for your encouraging words! I'm having a few difficulties--I am a bit disorganized, and I can't find a lot of the songs I wanted to post. Sometimes I can find the songs but not the words! But fear not, there are still plenty of songs to come! |

I listened to your songs and I think I speak on behalf of all the forum people when I say: this REALLY needs to be brought to the attention of the executives of record labels! Famous people need to record this stuff. Best songwriter I've ever heard!
