Horundul Board Rules

All posts must adhere to the Zetaboards Terms of Service.

General Forum and Posting Rules

  1. All posts should be at least 4 sentences in length, in character, and one full sentence in length, out of character. The in character length is not strictly enforced, and should be seen of more as a guideline to a decent, average post.
  2. As well, we advise that you run each of your posts through spell check and check for grammatical errors before posting. If you tend to have a large amount of mistakes (especially ones that makes your post unreadable) you will be advised for edits.
  3. All posts should contribute something to a topic. Spam is not tolerated!
  4. Posts can be deleted, edited, moved, and otherwise altered for any reason without warning by staff; however, if you believe that the staff are abusing this rule, please report them to Fission.
  5. Do not double/multiple post! See exception under time rules.
  6. Staff members should be treated with respect; a happy staff team is a friendly staff team.
  7. Your fellow board members are also to be treated with respect. Feuds, whether via posts, PM, IM, or email, are not tolerated!.
  8. In in-character forums, please separate OoC portions of your post from IC parts. For example:
    Spoiler: click to toggle

This is not acceptable. This is:
    Spoiler: click to toggle

Here is a list of common dividers:
    Spoiler: click to toggle

Role Playing Guidelines

  1. We here know that many people have different role playing styles. However, it important to know that all posts should be in written in proper English (grammar, punctuation, capitalization, spelling, etc.).
  2. All IC posts should be of at least 4 sentences, excluding dialog. This isn't strictly enforced, but it's good to have at least some content to your posts.
  3. You are allowed to have each of your characters in two (2) threads at once, though more may be allotted should the need arise by staff. However, you must be absolutely sure about agreements with time and story placement to avoid confusion. If you are not sure that you can handle this, please do not utilize multiple threads!
  4. No metagaming (using out of character knowledge to your character's advantage) or cheeze whizzing / God-modding (overpowering your character to never take damage, always deal damage, and being basically godlike OR controlling other people's characters). These are strictly enforced.
  5. There is no leveling system on this forum, so be aware of your character's power, as we will. If your character grows too powerful over a short period of time, you will be retconned down to size.
  6. When not in battle, your characters can do pretty much anything. Members are encouraged to start their own plots and storylines, make friends with other characters, join a Group, look for chances to make Coin, and much more.
  7. These is no strict limit on Coin (money), but one may be added if the system is misused, i.e. giving your character 10 billion coin for no reason, stealing money from others without their consent (thievery is to be treated like attacking in its handling and timing), or using generated coin to buy large expanses of official forum cities (which will result in a warning being given and the topics in which this was done to be trashed).
  8. Staff will control NPCs, bosses, general situations, etc. if there are not enough members in a thread, if by request, or if by their own judgement. Staff have full story control; the rules of autohitting, "powergaming", and godmodding do not apply to staff-controlled NPCs or events.
  9. After a thread is completely left and abandoned, staff may lock it.
  10. You may request that no more people join a thread to staff or by placing it in the topic title and/or description.

Time Rules

  1. If an attack is ignored or an attacking post is not responded to within 48 hours, the attacker can autohit--that is, he/she can do damage to the target. Be reasonable! No autokilling!
  2. If on vacation for an undetermined amount of time, leave a note or plan for your character to be in a safe area when you are gone.
  3. Threads halted due to a user's or several users' inactivity will be abruptly ended by staff and the active members may continue with their characters elsewhere.
  4. Double posting (in character) is allowed as long as there is at least 20 hours in between each post. This can be used in case someone wants to create a "solo" mission or bump their thread with actual content to make people more aware of it and, thus, improve chances of someone else joining the thread.

Fighting Rules

  1. There is no health or stat system. This means that battles, attacks, damage, and other factors need to be determined in an agreeable fashion by those partaking in a fight. Both users should consider abilities, experience, and other factors of both characters.
  2. If you abuse the powers you stated in your character's application by the standards of the staff and/or other members, you will receive a verbal warning and be asked to perform edits and tone it down a bit. If you think someone is abusing their character's abilities please use the Report button to report them to staff; do not make it a personal war! This rule is especially true for the "Strong techniques", which should have been relatively balanced upon creation.
  3. Autohits (automatic damage done without giving chance dodge, only acceptable as staff actions or as noted in the Time Rules) are to be treated as one would a regular attack: be reasonable, allowing the character at least a bit of a chance to dodge, and the attack can not kill, mortally wound, or in other ways irreparably harm the character being attacked.
  4. Fights against small NPCs (generic bad guys, monsters, and large groups of enemies) are to be handled like autohits, but autokills are allowed against weaker enemies as noted by the staff or person in charge of the NPCs.
  5. Fights against large NPCs (boss-type enemies and unique NPCs) will usually will be overseen by a staff member or whomever is in charge of the thread's backstory, who will control the NPC.

Character and Account Rules

  1. There is a starting limit of 1 character and 1 account per person. Multiple accounts are not tolerated, resulting in bannings, account deletions, warnings, and other severe action.
  2. When you reach a total of 50 posts, you are allowed to have one more character, at 125, you are allowed a third, and at 250, you are allowed a fourth character, bringing a grand total of four characters maximum per person. However, these new characters will be accepted based on both your activity and the percentage of your posts are in character.
  3. All character applications must be written in the given character template.
  4. All signatures should have the required content for each character given in the character template.
  5. Multiple entities per character are restricted concerning physical forms, but spiritual/psychological/etc. entities are not restricted, within reason. In other words your character can not consist of more than one physical being at any given time.

In other words, one character can not have multiple bodies. You can't have twins, or a woman and her son, or any combination of physical beings such as that. However, spirits (demons, alternate personalities, etc.) are allowed without strict limits.
  6. Characters should follow all other rules set forward in the character template.

Tournament Rules

  1. Once you have signed up, you may not leave until the end of the tournament.
  2. You can jump in at any time, just be sure to read the first post's specials rules, locating in italics at the top of the page, to check
  3. Aside from the standard two-thread limit to characters, your character can be in one arena thread, as well. Be sure to keep track of your relations with the other characters in terms of time before hopping in! Also, make sure that you aren't already in one, as there are arenas located in several major cities and areas.
  4. Each battle is a standard fight, unless otherwise specified: fight to the death.
  5. You only get rewarded if you win the whole tournament
  6. The use of special attacks constantly will get you disqualified, as is the case in all threads
  7. Use just about anything in your range (Chairs, weapons, crowd members, etc)
  8. Canon NPCs (Arche Generals, the Nine, etc.) will not appear in tournaments.
  9. Only staff members can start tournaments
  10. New tournaments pop up all the time, but if you and some others are interested in having a staff member start one right away, just PM one of us!
  11. All tournament threads will be suffixed with [ARENA]
  12. Slight godmoding is allowed, but please, don't let it leave the arena!

Punishments

  1. Punishments are placed on a scale: text-based warning, official warning, mod queue, suspension, short-term bannings (one week to a month), and, finally, IP, e-mail, and username ban along with account deletion.
  2. These are carried out based on the severity of the misdeed and to what extant rules were broken. Outside of warnings, all punishments are handled by administrators only.
  3. While in-character rule breaking (metagaming, god modding, unwarranted/overpowered autohits, etc.) is usually given by a verbal or official warning, large spamming and personal attacks are considered high-risk offenses.

If you have any more questions, contact the staff team.
