Character Information Name: Sir Edward Morgan, Unity Mage 3rd Class (Edward) Age: 45 Gender: Male Description: Physical: Edward wears armour that covers every exposed patch of skin. The armour is a bronzed steel that has a brownish tinge to it because of the alloys used to make it. The armour is very ornate and very heavy. Edward's armour looks frightening, carrying the visage of a dragon with clawed feet and hands and spikes on the shoulders. This elemental symbol of fear is tough and highly durable. His armour is not that restricting thanks to the fact that it consists of plates that cover everything but the joints. Underneath is a bronze-burnished mail that is slightly darker than the plates it's attached to. Underneath the mail and plates he wears a set of soft-leather trousers and a linen shirt. These items are both dark blue in colour only the shirt is of a slightly lighter colour. His shirt reaches down to the wrists where his gauntlets are worn. The insides of the gauntlets are lined like gloves so they're not actually that uncomfortable. The same is true for every piece of joined armour he wears. The shirt and trousers are just there for comfort more than anything else. On top of this linen he wears several plates of harder leather. He'll cook in it but he's often used to living in armour. On his person at any one time there is always a knife on his hip that has a nastily curved blade. It's got a bone hilt wrapped in bronze wire so that it matches his armour. On the end of this hilt hangs a bronze chain with an eagle attached to the end. The knife is about six inches long and sits inside his belt which is a leather strap with loops all through it. On his back he carries a backpack full of potions and healing items to help on his explorations. He's never seen without them even when he's wearing that ceremonial cape he's seen to wear sometimes. His talents of dress may not be too brilliant but he's a practical man, wearing only what is required in the situation. But his cloths are only half his appearance. On top of his cloths he has a pair of violet eyes and blue hair that reaches halfway down his back. His eyes are hidden within the visor of his armour most of the time and so not that many people have seen it. But you'd have to be blind not to notice that greasy mop of blue hair. As his helmet only covers his head one can gaze at the top of his neck to see his hair sprout from the bottom of the helmet. His hair is reasonably tidy as he brushes it in constant annoyance of it getting in his face. He wears the helmet almost all the time, taking it off very rarely. His face is strong jawed with a bit of stubble that runs to his chin and no further. He does not shave all that often due to his constant searching for duty. Personality: At heart Edward is a practical man. He does not do anything that is impractical such as going to rescue a prisoner when they could take out the source of the problem. He'll always attack the jailer and never the guards. He'll get down to the root of the problem and try to remove it. He's fully aware that he's not the strongest person in the world but he will always do his best. He'll try to help someone if he can but he has a strong sense of justice. He'll follow orders to the letter, doing whatever he can to achieve the mission's objective. He'll slice up anyone that gets in his way, single-mindedly trying to achieve the objective that he was given. He was a good soldier that obeyed without question. Edward does have a sensitive side however. He will think about others before doing something that he knows will effect them. This impulse does not stop him from carrying out his duty, believing that everything the Unity orders him to do is for the best. He's takes his job as a Unity Mage and Researcher very seriously and works tirelessly. He's extremely hard-working and rarely has time to socialize. As a result he's very awkward in the situations most normal people would be OK in. He's not that good at talking to girls and making friends because all he can talk about is work and thesis in Magic. In short he's a nerd with a work addiction. This nerdy magician is a very talented magician, in which he takes a fierce pride. Nobody should insult this guy in terms of magic because he's likely to use a spell that'll blow your head off. He's got a hell of a temper sometimes and can turn violent in any situation. He's a slightly violent individual that uses magic he knows to disable his opponents. He's always been a little awkward in social life and so has learned to defend himself because of this. He spent much of his childhood working on his magical skills, knowing that he could show off to others if he needed to. As he grew older, he lost the desire to show off and gained a desire to work with magic. He loves that aspect of the planet and worked himself to the bone in an attempt to get magically adept. That is the reason behind his desire to research magical items and creatures. He wants to become the greatest magician that ever lived. He knows he's good but still belittles it in an attempt to motivate himself to get better. His one-track-mind approach to life can make him very hard to get along with. He's just too stubborn. History: Edward grew up in a small village in Hydric. He was raised by his two parents and an elder brother who looked after him. His elder brother, Stephen Morgan, was more of the sporty type than a magician and so often disagreed with Edward's methods of fighting. He thought magic was cowardly and they often had huge arguments over which style was better. They often went off of their own accord to train with Stephen often wondering to the lakeside and Edward going into a small cave full of crystals. He would spend many days of his youth training in their without respite. He did not want to hear that he was not getting better. Instead he trained just to show off his skills in magic. It was not long before Edward became a competent Magician and went to study under the elders of the town he lived in. This cult was rather anti-social and chose its candidates. It was believed to be a privilege to have your son or daughter accepted into the cult. They never took more than one child so Edward was taken away from his brother. His mother and father could only visit once a year and they could never see their son's face because of the cult's laws. He was so bitter that he took to wearing a helmet and armour. He fashioned it himself after three years of training with the guild blacksmith, Reggie. At first this armour was flawed and imperfect but Edward, being a determined perfectionist, carried on working until he could craft the proper armour he desired. After two years of fruitless effort, he forged the perfect armour for himself. He grew his hair and forged a dagger to hang from his hip. He also crafted a chain of pure bronze to hang from his dagger's hilt. On the end it held a small bronze eagle as a symbol of freedom and majesty he wanted to have. One night, he left the cult in secret. He ran away from the town with his armour in his backpack and fled the country, thinking that if the cult never saw him they'd just give up and leave him alone. But it was not to be: As Edward tucked into his third sandwich on his fifth night on the run, Guild Assassins came to take him back. Edward was not slow in his reaction: He attacked without warning, using all manner of offensive spells. The assassins stood not a bird's chance in the cat's claws. Edward was an extremely adept magician and still is. He sliced them down with his Plasma attacks and burned their bodies in half. He escaped with a few burns and quite a lot of bruises but his armour repelled the magical attacks of his foes very nicely as it was wrought of magic itself. It just wasn't that durable so as to escape damage. Edward had taught it to reconstruct like normal flesh and he carried on going as well as he could. As his injuries healed, the armour repaired itself at the same rate. He hurried the process of healing his wounds every so often so he was able to fight again if the need arose. His one and only objective was to escape the Guild before they killed him or worse, took him back to their headquarters. The Guild hunts Edward to this day, wanting to get him back even though he's slain hundred of their own throughout the years. Edward knew that they would never give up no matter where he went and so turned to the Elemental Unity for help. They took him and made him a Researcher and a Battle Mage. Through all this training Edward became stronger in harnessing mana. It was here that he gathered enough mana to perform his special attack: Plasma Cutter. Combat Information Fighting Style: Edward is a very adept magician and logically uses magic alone. His dagger is there as a support alone and therefore is not a fantastic weapon during battle. He has only three main styles of magical attack: Flame, Plasma and Cosmic. These three archetypes are the basis for his many styles of offense. They are countered by a magic that is opposite to his own. In Hydric he developed his Cosmic attacks because of the water. He developed his other styles in later life at the Unity's training grounds. He'll start off with Flame at all times to feel out the opponent. He likes to get a good idea of the foe's abilities before attacking them with his real magics. Flame is his basic style and the one he has the least offensive capability in. He's able to summon fire balls and shot flame-thrower like jets from his hands but that's about it. He's powerful in these abilities but the sheer lack of variety will impact his offensive capabilities in this particular style. He's got a small advantage in the element of fire's sheer destructive power. He'll set things alight rather than aim for the enemy exactly knowing that encasing them in a fiery wall will keep them still long enough for him to use his Cosmic magic. He uses Cosmic magic as a secondary back-up magic to complement his Flame magic. With this magic he creates flashes of blinding light or summons light in general. His offensive style is arrows of light that pierce the enemy in place. He then uses their lack of movement to pin them with his final attack for this combination: Meteor. In this assault he magically sends a boulder or earth mound near him into the enemy. This attack has a tidy range of two meters exactly. Any further and the attack will not work at all. If this happens he turns to his most powerful magic and the one he can perform most effectively: Plasma. The third and final type of magic he uses is called Plasma. This type of attack can be described as lightning assaults. He can use a lightning strike on the foe that'll paralyze them for a short moment or he can use his signature attack Plasma Arrow which will lightly burn anyone that's not fast enough to dodge it. One can easily see when he's about to use it because the atmosphere needs to become super-heated first. This takes up a lot of Mana in the air but once he's charged it enough, he can send a burning ball of energy at the foe. That characteristic red glow of a mage absorbing mana will inform you instantly if he's about to use it. It takes roughly a second to charge and in a fight seconds count for everything. *As this magic takes the super-heating of air he will suffer greatly for using it. The risks are high because he can burn himself or faint from exhaustion. It's known that this is is final and most powerful form of assault. He will snobbishly use it only on the opponents he's deemed worthy.* These three types of magic are not dependant on the order I've placed them in. He'll start off with plasma if he believes that the enemy is stronger off the bat. He'll use everything he's got if he knows he's in the shit. It's a style that is highly unpredictable but at the same time predicable. That Oxymoron should be explained. Edward only has seven attacks in magic at any one time. He's got them set in his mind before hand. His most common combination is Fire Shot, Flamethrower, Plasma Arrow, Thunderclap (Paralyzing shot), Flash, Meteor and Plasma Cutter. These seven can be substituted for other attacks but this does not happen that often. One can tell that those are his seven assaults which make him predictable but one cannot ascertain which one he's going to use first meaning that his assault is unpredictable also. But at least five of those seven assaults will be in his repertoire at any one time. He may supplement it for healing spells if he thinks he's in real trouble but that's a rare occurrence. His pride in his skills stops him from treating the enemy seriously. His magical prowess and years of training have given him the ability to fight for exactly two hours before he becomes exhausted. His determination to accomplish his missions make him a formidable opponent to face in the current climate. His endurance his high and so is his power but his speed is low. That's all there is too it. If he had the time he would lighten his armour but it's symbolic to him. He will not take it off unless he has to. He's developed a psychological attachment to it and therefore refuses to remove it even at the cost of his flesh. The armour is big and clunky which stops him from moving around so much which in turn saves his energy. He will stand in place and not move all that much throughout the fight. He often relies on another to do all the melee fighting. Strong Techniques: Plasma Cutter: By super-heating the air around his arms, Edward can create a pair of blades so hot that they can melt steel. No sword can strike him when he's using this simply because it'll melt. The attack is limited and can only be used in melee assaults so he must be within striking distance of the foe. If he's not the enemy will only feel the tingling of electricity on their face as the free electrons spray into the atmosphere. This can generate more heat as the electrons fuse with atoms to make complete shells. This is the type of heat that'll burn Edward if he's not careful and so he will not use this attack for long. In appearance it looks like he's got two one-meter long swords of electricity for each of his arms. His style with this is simply a block-and-stab style. He'll attempt to melt the foe's sword then attempt to stab them with the energy. Even so, this ability will make deep scores like a sword but will only hang around for a while. The Plasma Cutter technique is much more appropriate for closed-off areas like hallways and caves where the enemy is limited. His Plasma Cutter power is much more potent in a thunder storm for obvious reasons: more electricity in the air. If there is a thunder storm the cutting power of the Plasma Blade will become much more potent, burning more as the temperature increases. But this in itself is a freak of nature. He does not want to use it in the every day battles he faces because the thunder storm would increase the temperature too much for him to control. The plasma would start to eat away at the magical forcefield he places around himself and burn his skin. Even remove the whole arm. Edited by Spades, Jun 22 2009, 09:38:05 AM.
