[明道] Ming Dao and Leon Williams on Kang Xi Lai Le

A friend of mine who is currently living in Shanghai said she just watched an ep of Kang Xi Lai Le with Ming Dao and Leon Williams as guests. According to her interpretation, MD was rather critical of LJW. He said Leon was anti-social on the set of Heaven's Wedding Gown. He didn't spend much time interacting with the other actors, but would sit in a corner reading his script.
Later on in the ep, Leon was having his usual difficulties speaking Mandarin--though he has improved a lot--and he only said half a word. Xiao S then apparently jumped in and pointed out that the half a word Leon had said sounded like the Taiwanese expression for a girl who sleeps around. Poor Leon. He accidentally said something quite rude on TW national television. :X
I think MD's comments were perhaps a bit harsh since it is well known that Leon comes from an English speaking family and he had to work very hard to memorise his lines in HWG, which was his first drama.
I must try to see if the ep iof KXLL is on YouTube yet. Maybe in Shanghai they are watching old eps for all I know.

That sounds old, right? Unless they're working on some promotions for HWG again. (But I wouldn't think so?) Not sure about Shanghai but I know my local Channel shows old episodes of different talk shows and game shows.

I agree regarding Ming Dao's comment. I meant I would understand that Ming Dao loves to socialize with people around him but he could not expect Leon to be the same. I'm sure Leon was just trying to work hard to memorize his lines since he's new and he's not that fluent in Mandarin. It would explain why he would use time on sets to memorize his lines more than interact. I'm sure he was scared with the pressure that was going on with him being lead.

I think if others aren't picking on Ming Dao's English, he shouldn't pick on Leon's flaws either. Honestly? Wasn't it MD's first drama too? He would understand the pressure they have to go through.

*Not to trigger anymore arguments but this makes me wonder if it's the reason why Ming Dao fans are attacking other artists. I meant 'cause it seems okay for him to do the same - though he was honest, so his fans feel it's okay as well.

Perhaps Ming Dao said it in a joking tone of voice. Also, I think MD is a good, very natural actor who has little difficulty memorising his lines and may not realise other actors have to work harder at it. Also, at that early stage in theri careers, MD certainly had more experience in front of the camera than Leon, who had only done some ads with no spoken lines before he was cast in HWG. Ming Dao had been in all those eps of the King of Adventure before HWG. Speaking of that drama, I love 183 Club's contribution to the OST--Zhe Mo is a really nice ballad. I love how Jacky sings the last verse in English. LOL

Talking about Zhe Mo, I was listening to it like half an hour ago, lol. (It was on shuffle on my mp3 player.) And didn't realize that was Jacky until WAY later since I never really paid attention to it since I was being focusing on Zi Hao & Ai Qing. (I think Sam sang part of the English too.)

I do hope that MD was joking since that would be a bit too mean in picking on the newbie. Leon's nervousness would've contributed to some of his mistakes too - if not all.

It's my friend's roommate who saw the show so I'll try to find out about his tone of voice. It could have been an old ep, of course, since they sometimes show old stuff on TV in the 'Hai.
The first time I heard the vocal version of Zhe Mo in HWG, I thought, that's a really nice voice! Awhile later the same friend I just mentioned went on drama-wiki and found out that it was the guy who played Ying the Loanshark who opened the song. I was really surprised...
