This forum is for the posting of lyrics such as a full album or just a single. Or maybe a collaboration. There are no rules on what you can write about. Write about ANYTHING. And make sure you don't forget, you can ask other members to write songs for you.

There are only two simple rules:

2. Before posting a new album of your act, you must hve reviewed ALL albums in THE LEAK Section. It doesn't have to be a detailed review, you can just scan through. But let's not leave any album unnoticed.

Also the #1 rule for lyrics and overall for this board, is

DO NOT STEAL OTHER MEMBERS' LYRICS! DON'T POST THEM ON OTHER SITES, TRY TO PASS THEM AS YOUR OWN. OR EVEN SEND THEM TO A REAL LIFE ARTIST. BECAUSE ONCE THEY ARE WRITTEN BY A MEMBER, ITS AUTOMATICALLY COPYRIGHTED. IF THINGS GO TOO FAR, LEGAL ACTION CAN BE TAKEN.

Anyway this post is about HOW TO READ lyrics. You may see some things you are not familair with.

_______

This indicates a note that is held for a certain period of time. The length of the line (the under score) measures the time period.

The parenthesesis for ad-libs. Ad-libs are the oohs and ahs and oh yeahs of a song usually found in the last chorus.

These are for the ad-libs that are said at the same time as the ABOVE line.

LYRICS HERE

When lyrics are put in Caps like THIS, it indcates a shouted line, word, or in most cases, an ad-lib.

*lyrics here*

The lyrics in the stars (*) indicates an action done in a song. Like maybe heavy breathing or panting for a heavily seductive and sexy song. Or maybe a scream for a rock song.

Sometimes songs have little speaking parts and the ( : ) indicates someone speaking the words following that.

SAMPLING

Songs are allowed to sample songs that are in the real music world. Samples are songs written to the lyrical arrangement and production of an already existing song.
Here is an example. This song is written to sample the chorus of Usher's "Love In This Club".

[Chorus]
All I want is for you to hold me close,
hold me close, hold me close
Keep it going and don't let go, don't let go,
don't let go, don't let go boy...

If you need to, listen to the instrumental and sing this in place of the actual chorus.
Another example is for Ne-Yo's "Closer", the chorus.

[Chorus]
He won’t let me up off the hook
One touch was all it took
He is the one (He is the one)
He is the one (He is the one)
When I need help I know he’ll be there
But I can’t keep him all to myself
But he’s still the one (He is the one)
He is the one
(He is the one, he is the one...)
