Julianna smiled as she walked down the lake. Her Gryffindor scarf was wrapped around her neck tightly to protect her from the cold and her hat fit over her blonde hair snugly. It was a pretty winter day despite how freezing it was. She shivered slightly; Julianna was never a big fan of winter even though its frostiness was quiet enchanting at times - it was too cold for her liking. But she was still out here and she was determined to make a decent sketch of the lake to show her siblings who had both gone to Durmstrang. They would understand her choice then - Hogwarts was a beautiful place. Julianna sighed to herself as she took a seat and placed her sketchbook on her lap, pulling a muggle pencil from behind her ear and started to sketch.
Jessabelle had decided to take a walk and found herself at the lake. Thankfully no one had seen her in this ridiculous reindeer costume. She begged no one would see her. No one has yet, but still, someone could jump out from a rock and take a picture. Paranoid, Jessa saw a little person sitting on the beach. A firstie Gryffindor, obviously. Trying to sneak past, so the girl wouldn't see, Jessa stepped on a branch and there was a sudden...
SNAP!
Oops.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Marco was walking around on the grounds when he spotted two people. He made his way down the snowy grounds and to the lake where the two people were at. One of them he recognized; the Hufflepuff Jessa. Marco hoped his face was not red-he was pretty sure his was not-and he turned to the other girl. She looked like she was about his age, and he hoped that she was, because he only knew one other first year; Gemini. "Hello," Marco said. "My name is Marco, and I am a first year Slytherin."
Julianna had been a bit wrapped up in her sketching, observational sketching was always the most fun in her opinion and she had barely heard the snap. She dismissed it quickly, it wasn't like she was the only one who visited the lake; surely there were other students who did it so she didn't need to worry but then she heard someone speaking and it alarmed her quite a bit. Her head snapped up to look around to see who had spoken. "Oh, uhm, hi, I'm Julianna, Julianna Depinto, first year Gryffindor," she said, smiling at the boy who had introduced himself as Marco. Wait. Who... was...
Reindeer?
"Uhm... excuse me? she called out to the girl dressed as one of Santa's reindeer. She wondered why the girl was dressed that way... was something wrong? Julianna flipped her sketchbook close as she continued to stare, unintentionally, at the Rudolph!Student.
Jessabelle jumped and screamed when she heard a voice being called towards her. She slowly looked at the Gryffindor, and saw Marco. Just as slowly, she started walking towards the people. "Hi." She said, looking down. "Hey, Marco." She greeted the Slytherin. Her cheeks were turning as red as her nose (the fake one, not the real one). OH HOW EMBARRASSING!!!!!!

"Nice to meet you Juilianna," Marco said. He considered her name for a second before deciding that it was really long and would be tiring to say over and over again. Not that he would be saying her name over and over again, but still. "Can I call you Julia? Or Anna?" Marco noticed that she was holding a sketchbook. "Are you drawing?" He plopped himself down so he was sitting right next to her in the snow. Marco likes now; it was cold and fluffy and good for making shapes.
Marco turned to look at Jessabelle and noticed something that he had not before; she was wearing a costume. Not just any costume, but a reindeer one. "Uh...Jessa," he began. "I hate to break it to you, but Halloween was two months ago."
"My family calls me Julie, if you want you can call me that," she offered. That was... shorter, right? Considerably shorter even though Julianna had always been quite fond of her name. Perhaps that was just what people did - create nicknames for other people when they didn't want it or something. Not that she didn't like nicknames, she did, she jus- she was probably rambling in her mind. "Uhm, was," she corrected. Not anymore. She didn't like to draw with people watching, it was... weird. It felt weird.
Hearing the scream, Julianna jumped a little as well; she hadn't expected that at all. Nope. Hearing Marco's comment, she giggled quietly to herself. "Are you excited for Christmas?" Julianna asked. She was as well, a bit sad she wouldn't be going home for Christmas, but it was still nice all the same to see some people so excited for it.
Jessabelle looked glared at Marco. "I am quite aware when Halloween is, thank you." She said, annoyed. then she turned to the Gryffindor, "Before I tell you, can I know who you are?" She asked, it was a legit reason, this girl could be a secret reporter. "I am Jessabelle LeAnne Leroy, third year, Hufflepuff, Minister's daughter." She said, and smiled her cocky smile. "Now, who are you?" She asked demanded.

She did not say anything about the Anna part, whether or not she approved. Marco decided that he would call her Anna, purely for that reason, and because he thought it was cooler than Julie. Julie did not sound like the name for an eleven-year-old. He was confused for a moment when she said was, and then Marco realized she meant that it was past tense, and she was not drawing anymore. "Yes," he said. "I am very excited; I am going to go home in a couple days, for Christmas break, and spend Christmas with my mom and my sister." It would be too long if he could not see his mom or Melanie the entire time he was at Hogwarts.
Marco turned back to Jessa. "Well then why are you dressed like a reindeer?" She was just a really weird person. Well, she was a Hufflepuff after all. He had assumed the costume was for Halloween, even though it was Christmas theme. What reason would a person have to wear a reindeer costume? Was she going to help Santa deliver the gifts for Christmas? Marco gasped and hit face lit up. "Are you going to pull Santa's sleigh and help him deliver presents on Christmas?"
Christmas break... everyone else seemed to be going home for the holidays. She decided not to dwell on how she would be at Hogwarts and smiled at the boy. "That's nice, I hope you have a lovely time with your family, she said. It was good to have a good time with family... family was important. Right. Reindeer!girl was still here. And Julianna still had millions of questions about the whole getup. But none of them were very polite so she would hold her tongue - it was the right thing, and polite thing to do.
"I'm Julianna Depinto, first year Gryffindor," she said, smiling softly, not quite sure what to say other than that.
