The heavy door to the drafty Potions classroom stands ajar to allow students entrance to the class. Walk in and you will see Professor Petrova at her desk, leaning over her cauldron as she adds the last few ingredients to her potion before giving it a stir. On the board behind her are written the words:
Professor Petrova welcomes you to Potions!
Please take a seat and keep chatting to a minimum. Class will begin soon.
Jessabelle skipped in and found a desk to sit at. "Good morning, Professor." She beamed. Hopefully, Eric was in this class. Jessa would like that very much. She sat down and took out the book of parchment that Eric had given her. She flipped to a page and took out her quill. She drew a heart, then EB+JL in it. She made it look girly, but it would hang above her bed, where Eric wouldn't see it.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Penny ambled through the giant door to the Potions room and noticed two things. First, that she was the first person to the class and second that Professor Petrova was at the front of the class. "Howdy Professor."
Some of her hair had escaped the bun that she had constructed earlier and hair was getting in her eyes again. Quickly she chose a table in the middle of the room and sat down to fix her hair. Methodically Penny took the giant red mass and twisted it into another bun hoping that this time at least it would stay up.
"Morning professor! Morning Penny! And a special good morning to you, Jessa" Eric grinned, sitting next to her and throwing his bag beside him. "You okay?" he asked, looking at her. But he noticed her notepad was already out. "Ooops, am I late?" he reached into his bag quickly and pulled out his own notepad, quill and ink too quickly. "Oh darn" he tried to clean up the ink that had leaked onto his book.
Jessabelle couldn't help but laugh at Eric. "No, you're not late." She quickly closed the parchment book and smiled. "I'm fine, I was just waiting for you." She said. Laughing she took his book. "Impervius." She said, pointing her wand at the book. Hoping it would work on the ink spill. When it didn't she thought for a moment. "Tergeo." She said, finally. Jessa watched with pride as the ink spill cleaned itself up. "There you go, all nice and clean." She smiled and handed it back to Eric.

Walking through the door he noticed Penny immediately, sighing with relief he looked back to the front and saw the professor. Smiling at her he waved "Hello Professor." moving through the classroom he dropped his bag next to Penny and smirked at Eric who wasn't far away. He couldn't help it, he was still amused about him and Jessa!
Strolling through the door of one of her favorite classes, TJ found an empty seat and took out her cauldron and book from her bag. She preferred to use her own cauldron always had, and brought it with when she went to Potions class. Cleaning out the cauldron she replaced it on the desk and sat back to wait.
Her potion finished, Mariel looked up from her cauldron just in time to see her students start to trickle in. Smiling at each face as they entered, Professor Petrova gave each student a "Good morning" or "Hello" in response to their greetings.
Her smile faltered slightly, however, when one of the students became a bit clumsy. Head Boy, she noticed the badge pinned to his robes. Certainly he should know a cleaning spell, she thought. Frowning a bit when he did not immediately clean up the ink, she watched as a younger Hufflepuff did it for him. "A point for you, Miss...?" Professor Petrova looked down at the roster. Hopefully she'd learn these names soon and hopefully the Hufflepuff girl would supply it for her in the meantime. "Thank you for your quick thinking," she said, giving the girl a smile.
"Class," she said, now addressing them all and taking on a serious tone. "It's extremely important, in this class especially, to be careful not to have any spills or accidents. Potions can have disastrous results if something erroneous is spilled into them. Extreme caution must be observed at all times in order to brew the correct potion. No more spills, please."
"That being said," she continued a little more pleasantly now, "We still have a few minutes before class begins. While we're waiting for the rest to arrive, please tell me your name and year." She'd learn their names one way or another.
Her ears perking up as the professor spoke, she nodded in agreement. She'd seen someo nasty stuff happen when even things that were supposed to be in the potion were placed in incorrectly. Raising her hand as the professor asked them to state their name, "TJ Michaels, 7th year Slytherin, ma'am."
Penny smiled as JD came in and plopped himself down next to her. "Always makin' an entrance, eh? Ya know ya already got me ya don' have to keep tryin' ta impress me." She teased. The Professor seemed to have finished with her potion because she stood up and addressed them. The Ravenclaw looked over at Eric and grinned hoping that JD caught that little exchange too.
At the Professor's request she cleared her throat. "Ma'am, I'm Penny Lockwood 5th year."

Grinning over at Penny winked, "Don't hurt te try still." he whispered before looking up he listened to the professor. He could do potions, he didn't have to worry about using a wand most of the time in the class, and could easily start the fire under the cauldron, so he was all set. "JD Stevenson, 6th year." he said quickly almost forgetting to raise his hand.
"Thanks" he replied to her with a smile and then sighed. "Bad day." he shrugged, but smiled gratefully at her. Then the professor gave them a serious talk. Looking down, Eric sighed. "I'm sorry professor, nothing's going right for me today." he sorted out his desk, but then put his hand up a little bit and replied with "Eric Bailey, Sixth year." He was tempted to add 'Clumsy as a Niffler looking for SHINIES.'
Jessabelle smiled at Eric. "Well, your day shouldn't be bad when I'm around." She giggled at herself. Then, she got points for quick thinking. The teacher didn't know who Jessa was?! *GASP* "I'm Jessabelle Leroy, Third year." She said, smiling. Hopefully this teacher would recognize her as being the Minister's daughter.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
"Well, you haven't been around me for most of the morning." he sighed. His day had started bad and gotten worse. Smiling as she introduced herself to the teacher, he put everything where he needed it. He was usually pretty organised in potions. He liked things to be where they should be.
Oops... late again. Ashlyn did her best to slip in quietly and unnoticed. She had been lucky so far in not losing any points yet this semester, but she did not want to push her luck. It looked like class was just beginning to start so maybe it would be no big deal.
Finding a seat by the door, Ashlyn listened as the rest of the class introduced herself. Figuring she should do the same as to act like she had been there all along, the Slytherin raised her hand. "Ashlyn Montague, fourth year," she said nonchalantly when she felt it was her turn.
Professor Petrova smiled and nodded as each student offered their name, and she checked off each name on the roster list. "It's quite alright, Mr. Bailey," the professor told the boy as he apologized, giving him a reassuring smile. He looked like he was being way too hard on himself and, while she expected diligence and near-perfectoin in her class, she certainly didn't want anyone getting discouraged, especially before they'd even begun. Besides, no real harm was done. "Just let it be a reminder for all of us to be more careful from now on," she added.
Checking off the next few names on her list, Professor Petrova let her eyes linger on Jessabelle for a brief second. Hmmm, a relation to the Minister? Perhaps daughter, she thought. Interesting... Well, if she was the daughter of the Minister, Mariel hoped the girl wasn't expecting special treatment in her class. The Potions Mistress was fair and unbiased, and expected everyone to work to their potential.
She pursed her lips slightly at the name of the last girl to answer. She didn't miss the little Slytherin coming in late, but as they hadn't officially started yet, she wasn't going to press the issue. Looking down at the roster, Mariel frowned slightly. Still a few missing, but she wasn't waiting any longer.
"Thank you class," she said, addressing them all as they finished giving them their names. "Miss Michaels, Mr. Stevenson, and Mr. Bailey, if you could all see me in my office after class..." And now to get started... "Since today's lesson is a double class, we are going to create two potions. One is the antidote of the other and that will be the one we'll begin with - The Deflating Draught. Now, just to see how well everyone knows their potions... who can tell me some of the ingredients found in a Deflating Draft?"
Penny listened as the Professor called the class to attention. She raised her eyebrows at JD as he, Eric, and the older Slytherin girl were singled out. Her attention was drawn back up front as the Potions Mistress told them what they were going to be doing. Two potions sounded like a lot of work. She was a Ravenclaw though and was totally up to the task.
The red head's hand went up as the first question was asked. It seemed studying the material the night before the class was paying off. Though if she was honest she couldn't remember all of the ingredients. "Ma'am. I believe syrup of hellebore, 3 moke ribs, and dried murtlap tentacles are a few." She drawled.
Aidan slid through the door to the potions room and stopped. Well crap. He smiled over at the Professor and pulled a small slip of paper out of his pocket. "I'm sorry Professor. I was in the Groundskeepers office." He sort of stumbled over the word office since Mr. Wade's office is actually his house so it was weird. He handed the signed slip of paper to the Potions Mistress and then looked around the room. He spotted a familiar face and went and sat next to Ashlyn.

Hearing the professor single him and Eric out and...that Slytherin student, JD looked over at Penny and shrugged. He couldn't already be in trouble...could he? He sure hoped not. The other two were head boy and girl, maybe that was why, but then why him???
His thoughts wandering he totally missed the professor's question. Merlin...yeah that would get him in more trouble if he wasn't careful. Sitting quietly he waited for the next question.
Hearing the professor's question to meet her in her office after class, TJ nodded. Taking out her potions book, she started flipping through it, when she heard the Ravenclaw's answer, she nodded raising her hand "Lukewarm water with a hair of Kneazle boiled for 5 minutes in it?" she asked cautiously. She thought that was one of the things she remembered reading about it.
