Alexsandra opened the door to the Ancient Runes classroom with the flick of her wand and walked in setting her bag down on her desk. She flicked her wand at the board in front of the desks. Slowly the board began to read:
Ancient Runes Lesson 1 Introduction to Ancient Runes Please take a seat and keep the chatting to a minimum.
Alexsandra then pointed her wand at the bookshelves that contained all of the course books. They zoomed out through the room, two per table. Each table has two comfortable chairs. There are four rows of five tables. Quills and spare parchment are always available in the small cabinet to the right of Professor Durzkof's desk.
Honestly, Lexi was curious when she heard that there was a new Runes professor. Just because that meant there was another new person, and she couldn't understand why she hadn't gotten an owl from her father, asking all sorts of questions. Maybe the owl had gone to the Headmistress, or the new professor themselves. Either way, the curiosity meant she wasn't about to be late to this lesson, even if she wasn't sure about the subject. She could always just pretend it was Greek, at least until she was asked a question. And she could always hope she wouldn't get singled out to answer any questions she didn't know, anyway.
Stepping into the classroom, she smiled at the woman at the front of the room, even as her blue-gray eyes flickered to the board to see if it gave her any information about the new professor. Unluckily, it just spoke about the lesson, although the fact it was an introduction made her feel better. "Good morning, Professor," she said, spirits raising even more as she saw the chairs they got to sit in. Comfy, she thought, settling into one and curling her sneakered feet up under herself as she slid the textbook that was on the table closer. Maybe she could review before the lesson started, before others arrived.
She'd heard that there was a new professor that had come to teach Ancient Runes, and since it didn't conflict with her Charms class this time, she was happy to at least check out the class. She had no realms of concern regards to the headmistresses class, but she just hadn't been able to be in two places at once! Stepping into the room she saw the professor right away as well as one other student. "Good morning professor." she said smiling at the woman before turning to Lexi "Mind if I join you?" she asked.

He practically ran through the doorway when he finally had arrived at the classroom, hoping he wasn't late. Why was it he was always running late? Well, it hadn't helped that he'd had detention with Professor Rodemiere again. It'd just been a little accident he hadn't meant to fill the suit of armor with water, just clean it...yeah. Didn't he understand a prank, or had he actually never pulled a prank ever? Well probably not, but of course it had to be Professor Rodemiere who had gotten soaked when the suit of armor finally fell over.
Taking a seat at one of the empty tables near the back, JD smiled at the new professor. If he was nice maybe she wouldn't find he was so rubbish at Runes!
Alexsandra looked up and saw that her class had arrived. "Good morning," she said to the two girls who had politely said hello to her. She gave a nod to the boy who had just smiled. Standing up she tapped the board so it read:
Professor Alexsandra Durzkof Ancient Runes
"Good morning to you all. I am your new Ancient Runes teacher," Alexsandra began introducing herself. "My name is Alexsandra Durzkof. And you all ae to call me Professor Durzkof." Which was the general rule when it came to professors correct. "I am here to teach you all Ancient Runes. This is my first year as a teacher so please bear with my. I was once a student at Hogwarts though, back then I was with the house of Slytherin." Alexsandra said giving the students a little bit of a background to her. She looked around trying to spot any Slytherins out of the students there.
Now onto the lesson. That would probably be a good idea. She didn't have all day to give them information about herself. "To start off with class I would like everyone to provide me with your name, house, and year," because a quick introduction would be good for her to get to know the class. "And also please summarize what you already know about Ancient Runes."
Lexi had looked up as she heard someone ask a question by her, and blinked as it was TJ. She had never really talked to the Slytherin, but in the same respect, that meant she definitely didn't have any problem with her joining her. "No," she replied, glancing at the seat next to her before getting distracted by the sound of someone running into the room. Head turning again, she sent a smile over to JD. At least she knew him a little. He wasn't quite as scary as the seventh year Slytherin who was apparently going to sit next to her.
Her attention went back to the professor as she spoke, anyhow, and she made a note of he rname as introductions were made. Another Slytherin, or at least a former one. She was starting to feel like she was the odd girl out. The only Lion in class, possibly the entire school, unless she assumed her head of house had been one. There definitely didn't seem to be any others coming to the lessons, but she wasn't going to let that stop her. She did at least semi-raise her hand before speaking, though. "Lexi Donovan, fourth year Gryffindor, Professor Durzkof," she said. "And I know Ancient Runes are sort of an old written language, and they can also be used to tell us things about our past and future. Kind of like Divination." That was one of the reasons she couldn't really count this as one of her favorite subjects. Her and Divination weren't exactly friends.

Alexsandra listened as the girl explained what she thought Ancient Runes were. "Good Miss Donovan a point for your good answer," Alexsandra then turned to the board and tapped it so it showed the runes alphabet. "Now could someone please tell me what the name of this rune alphabet is and name a couple of the runes." Alexsandra said as she looked around the room at her students hoping that they knew what it was. It wasn't to hard to know the Elder Futhark.
Nodding she gave the younger Gryffindor girl a smile before taking a seat beside her.
Looking up as the professor spoke, starting class, TJ waited until Lexi spoke then rose her own hand "TJ Michaels, Slytherin, 7th year Head Girl." she responded "I know that there are 24 different runes." There a simple answer, one of the basics, she would expand on it but wanted to make sure that the other students had a chance at answering as well.
Raising her hand again at the next question, TJ spoke nice and clear "It's the Elder Futhark, and two runes are Kauno and Ehwaz."
