Entering the hall, JD found he was the first one there except the headmistress, who appeared to look a little lost standing in the center of the room. "Happy Christmas, Headmistress!" he called heading directly...to the food tables. Of course, he needed to eat right?
Reaching for a roll he turned to see who would come in first, he hoped for Penny, because he was famished...as always, but didn't want to eat without her. Taking a bite he looked up at the tree.
Penny rounded the corner to the Great Hall and paused her eyes going wide. The place looked amazing! This was her favorite time of year and the Ball just made it that much more fun. The decorations took her breath away. Her green eyes scanned the room and finally she found the guy she was looking for. Of course, he was by the food table.
Smiling she walked over her red heels clicking out her steps. Her hands smoothed down her dress the only indication that she was nervous. It was ridiculous really. They had been together for a couple months now and still the thought of being with him made her shiver. She had taken extra care with her appearance. Curling her long red hair had taken forever and she wasn't used to makeup as she rarely wore the stuff but it was worth it. At least she hoped it was.
Finally she came up behind JD and tapped him on the shoulder. "Excuse me sir. I think I've lost my boyfriend..have you seen him?"

Hearing Penny's voice behind JD brought a grin to his face as he put the last of the roll into his mouth. Turning around his eyes moved over her, in amazement, "Wow." he said softly "Ye look fantastic!" How could girls do that so easily, he had no idea! Well, he was sure it wasn't easy but still!
"I think I might be able te help ye find him." he teased, putting his hands on her waist, bringing her close.
Penny blushed at his compliment smiling all the while. She loved the way he looked at her. Like she was the only girl in the world. Her hands went to his elbows as he grabbed her waist and pulled her in. "Thank you. You look pretty dashing yourself."
Her green eyes moved over the table of food. "Anything good here?" She asked. Him of all people would know if the food was good.

Seeing her blush, he grinned loving how she looked cute when she was pink. "Jus' fer ye." he whispered. He had a present for her, and wasn't sure how or even when he should give it to her. She meant more to him then anyone had til that point. He wondered if she might just be the one!
Following her gaze, he decided to wait on the gift yet, "Lot's look pretty good. Are yehungry?" he asked before grinning, 'cause he knew she didn't have to ask if he was.
CAKE! Marco had heard that there was a ball. He was not there for the ball aspect of it, because that would involve dancing with girls. Ick. He was there for the food, because they would probably have cake. And they did. He was wearing dress robes, because his mum would be very mad if he went to a ball wearing normal robes, or blue jeans. Anyway....he made his way to the food table, got a plate, and found the biggest slice of cake there was. After he was satisfied he noticed that there were two more people at the table. One of them he recognized from the kitchen. "Hello JD," he said. He turned to the other girl. "Hello, my name is Marco."
Gemini felt weird. She did not like wearing dresses. Okay, yes she did. She loved them. She still felt weird wearing a dress though, because she usually didn't. She kind of liked it, but she kind of felt like people would laugh at her. Well, it was a ball; everyone had to wear dresses. All the girls did, anyway. She walked over to the food table, because that was where everybody else was. Not everybody, but everybody that she knew. Actually, the only person that she recognized was JD, and she didn't really know him. But neither Jessa nor Eric were there, and she did not know anybody else.
"Hello," she said shyly to the people standing there. She recognized the one girl, but she did not know her name. Then there was a boy who looked like her age who she did not know. "I am Gemini," she offered to the boy, and the others if they did not know her name.

Phew at least he wasn't the only boy there now! "Hey Marco!" he replied shaking his head with laughter in his eyes. The kid had a thing for cake, that was for sure. Grabbing a plate he figured why wait, and started putting stuff on it when he heard another person walk up and greet them as well. Turning with his plate still in his hands, "Hey Gem!" he replied brightly. Gesturing to his plate he winked "Nice dress! Hungry?"
Penny grinned at her amazing guy. She looked over the spread on the table and her stomach growled. At that point a Slytherin boy she'd never seen came up and started talking to JD. The boy had the single, largest slice of cake that she had ever seen. The first question that popped into her mind was whether he was actually going to eat all of that but she thought better of it. He was a boy after all.
"Howdy Marco. I'm Penny, JD's girlfriend." She held out her hand. Another arrival interrupted their conversation but this one at least she knew. She waved at the Hufflepuff. "Heya Gemini. Love yur dress." After loading up her plate she looked around at their small group. "So where are we gonna sit?"
Jessabelle walked to the food table, mostly because she saw people she knew. Her red hair was extra curly for tonight. Her eyes were done special, and she felt beautiful. Spotting the young red head, Jessa smiled. "Hey Gem." She smiled. She grabbed a cup and filled it with punch. Her eyes drifted to a familiar face, and she almost rolled her eyes. "Hello, Marco." She said. Jessa was upset because she knew Eric wasn't going to be there.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Almost as soon as he got there another girl came up behind him. Was she following him? He turned around to look at her suspiciously, and he noticed that she looked kind of like Jessabelle. Her hair was short though, and it was...orange? Weird. "Hello," he said with a smile. "I am Marco." And then yet another girl came, this time it actually was Jessabelle. "Polo," he said when she said his name.
"Nice to meet you two Penny," Marco said. Almost immediately after she said his name he said, "Polo." Well, she HAD said Marco. How come everybody knew the little Hufflepuff except him? Humph. "Polo," he said again because JD said his name. He was starting to get tired of saying it; but he still found himself amusing. Anyway...he waited for someone to decide where to sit. He wanted to eat his cake. "I like your dress Jessabelle," he complimented her, because that was what you were supposed to do for girls, right? Tell them how pretty they were. Her dress was pretty; it was sparkly.
Jessabelle gave Marco a questioning look, "Did you just say Polo?" She asked, very confused. That wasn't a normal greeting, unless it was some stupid Muggle thing. She smiled at Marco. "Thanks." She said, and moved her hands over the beaded blue dress. Jessa knew that Marco had a HUUUUGE crush on her, but she was taken, by an older man and why would she give that up? "I wish that Eric was here." She tried hard not to start pouting, which was very hard for her to do.

A small smirk appeared on his face as Jessa walked up. Well he did feel bad for her, Eric had been unsure if he'd make it and all with his prefect duties. HAHA, well that was one reason he wasn't prefect. Well that and he wasn't on Professor Rodemiere's good side either. His hand balancing his plate his mouth was watering for the food! "Maybe we should all...sit down?"
He couldn't help but chuckle at Marco's joke thing with the word Polo. Well that was funny! And by the looks of things people didn't understand it
"Yes," Marco said to Jessabelle with a completely serious face. There was no reason for him not to be serious, because he was. He was just answering her truthfully. He frowned when she mentioned a name; Eric. Who was Eric? Was he-oh no, that was too horrible for Marco to even think to himself. Marco quickly stopped frowning, because he did not want to look like he cared about a girl. Ick. Marco nodded enthusuastically at JD's suggestion. "Yes; let's go." Without waiting for them Marco walked over to an empty table holding his plate containing his delicious cake.
Jessabelle nodded at JD's suggestion. Walking over to a table, she pulled out one of the chairs and sat down. Giving Marco a look, when he frowned, she quickly dismissed it, because she was with Eric, where she should be. "Why did you say Polo?" She was truly confused, seeing as Marco didn't care to elaborate on the subject. She wished that Eric was here more than anything, mostly because she hadn't heard from him, nor seen him in quite some time, and who knows what her Mum could have done with Eric.... *shivers*

"Thank you," Gem said shyly to JD and to Penny. She got a plate and looked around. She glanced at the weird boy to her left and decided that his cake looked good. She put a piece on her plate and followed the group to a table. Gemini giggled at Marco's use of the word polo. She glanced at Jessa, but the pureblood girl did not get it. JD seemed to think it was funny, though. Gem decided that she might as well explain the joke to Jessa. "There is a game that muggles play," she began. "It is called Marco Polo. One person closes their eyes and yells 'Marco!' Everyone else responds by yelling 'Polo.'" See Jessa? It made perfect sense.

His face still had a smirk on it when he walked over to one of the tables. "Yer welcome." he replied grinning over at the younger girl. Placing his plate down he pulled a chair out for Penny, and also reached over and pulled one out for either Gemini or Jessa hoping Marco would have the gentlemanness to do the same for the 3rd girl. He felt he'd look a little ridiculous going around the table for each girl who needed a seat!
"What would ye like te drink Penny?" he asked softly.
Orabelle was gorgeous. She knew she was gorgeous. She knew she was pretty and anyone who said otherwise was obviously just insane. How she managed to walk on those heels of hers was probably a mystery to many, but Orabelle practically grew up wearing heels and these were nothing compared to her other heels. Orabelle felt pretty which meant she looked a million times better than just pretty in her party dress and little peep-toe booties. No one else looked half as nice as she did. Call her conceited but it was only the truth.
She flounced over to the food table; every princess had to eat at one point or another and Orabelle didn't plan on eating later. It was best to eat early, dance it off and not eat at all - not that she had to, she looked flawless but being flawless was just so much work. She flipped her long brown hair over one shoulder with her free hand - her other hand was holding her clutch which contained her wand... in case anything happened. "Excuse me," Orabelle huffed, moving someone aside with her bag and continuing to make her way through. What was with people in her way?
And soo what if she didn't have a date? It was really their loss. Plus, Orabelle was an independent girl, if she wanted a date, she would get one. Simple as that. Orabelle looked at the pathetic younger years and shook her head. So young, so stupid, what they needed was a role model. Orabelle was a great role model, she just hated younger years so they were going to have to deal.
Despite how much she wanted to comment on how completely tacky the Minister's daughter's earrings were, she couldn't because she refused to confront a younger year. So instead, Orabelle simply picked up a plate, filled it with food before sitting alone at a table a bit away. Ugh. She was sitting alone, how pathetic. She knew she should've gone to Beauxbatons instead when given the choice.
Stepping through the doors, TJ glanced around seeing dancers on the dance floor, which included the headmistress and Professor Rodemiere! Her eyes continued around the room seeing a cluster of students around the food tables and at another table nearby. She also noticed a student alone at another table. Slytherin? She thought surprised, normally she had thought her house to be stuck up and want to show off her outfit, but what was the girl waiting for.
Or perhaps she'd been there first, and the others had just been rude not to include her. Walking over she dropped her purse in one of the seats a few seats away from the girl at the same table. "What you doing all alone here?"
Penny smiled at JD, her amazing gentleman as he pulled out chairs for herself and Gemini. As she was seating herself she noticed a Slytherin girl in her year pushing people out of her way to get to the tables. The red head frowned and shook her head. Slytherins!
Rolling her eyes she smoothed out her dress and sat down. At JD's question she said, "Sweet Tea hun. Please." Her eyes sparkled at him and she winked. She had gotten extremely lucky with him. As she tuned into the conversation she looked and Gemini a question plain on her face. "What's tha point of tha game though?" Yes, she had no clue about the game or the joke.
Jessabelle looked at Gemini, confusion smothered all over her face. "I still don't get it, why would someone run around awkwardly saying Marco, just to hear the word Polo?" She asked, it didn't make any sense. "That's completely useless and sort of stupid, in my opinion." She said, maybe in the Muggle world it was fun, but here, in the nice Wizard world, Jessa liked her things to make sense. Jessa smiled at Penny, "Good to know someone agrees." She said, and looked to see two girls suddenly appear, as if by magic. She sort of recognized one of them, and remembered not to talk to her. But the other one was new, and seemed like a stuck up girl. "Who are they?" She asked, the table, hoping someone would answer her question.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Orabelle looked at the girl with her steely grey-blue eyes. What was she doing sitting there? Waiting for Orabelle to criticize what she was wearing? Because Orabelle could think of a few. Ah right, Head Girl, she couldn't unless she wanted detention. Sighing, Orabelle realized she ought to be civil so she plastered her picture perfect smile on her face while answering the nosy head girl's question. "None of your business," she said simply, before her smile tugged into a smirk. It really wasn't any of the Head Girl's business, she ought to keep her nose out anyways. "And what are you doing here?" Orabelle asked. Didn't the Head Girl have like... Head Girl stuff to do? Yeah, so what if the head girl was Slytherin and so was Orabelle? Head Girl had shoes that were made for casual events and summer time, ginormous green necklace, awkward bag and earrings meant for clubbing, so really, what was the Head Girl doing even out of the dungeons?
Orabelle then turned her head to the loud noisy table. Talking about her were they? She was a Slytherin and had that sixth sense that allowed her to know when others were talking about her. Hmph, they simply haven't ever seen someone so beautiful in their entire life, of course.
Marco looked between Jessabelle and Penny with surprise on his face. Had they seriously never heard of the game Marco Polo? His mum had taught it to him a while ago, and she had regretted it, needless to say. "The point is for the person with their eyes closed to tag someone else. It is usually played in a pool." It did not necessarily have to be, but that was how everyone played it. It was dangerous to play anywhere else, in case you ran into a tree or something. That would be really painful.
Sneaking up behind Jessa, Eric put his hands around her waist, hugging her. "Wow, you look amazing!" he complimented her, beaming. She'd thought he wasn't coming, and he knew it, but he managed to get there. Just for her.
