Walking into the Ancient Runes classroom, Stef left the door open for students to come through. She'd not taught Ancient Runes in years, but knew at least some of the basics of the study of Runes. This class would be aimed towards that. Though she already had a plan for the next one, and hoped the kids would have a lot of fun with both.
Flicking her wand a stack of books rose off the shelf in the corner that held the books. Each one soared to the individual seats around the room. Having done that she went and sat down in the chair behind the desk. For some reason the last few days she'd been really wiped out and was just tired. Sitting there she leaned her head against the wall next to her. She wondered if maybe she was coming down with something.

Once Ashlyn had heard that the Headmistress was teaching this class, she wanted to make absolutely sure she was not late. The woman might not take points from her being late once, but she was fairly certain she wouldn't be so forgiving a second time. And Ashlyn was not going to push her luck. It was somewhat to her surprise, however, when she noticed that she was the very first person in the room - besides the Headmistress. She hadn't thought she was that early.
"Morning," she mumbled her greeting as she made her way to a seat. Choosing one close to a window, Ashlyn sat down and stared outside, already beginning to daydream. Runes was nowhere close to being her favorite class - ha! did she have a favorite? - and she could use a distraction.
Lexi had never really been a big fan of Runes, but then part of that had been because they neither had m uch to do with her heritage, nor use of her wand. At least, not to her knowledge. But she knew her father would rather she attend all her classes, and plus, she'd heard the headmistress was going to be teaching this as well as Arithmancy. Even more reason her father would want her there. Therefore, she walked into the classroom only the slightest bit hesitant about the lesson, and blinked as she only saw one other person there. The Slytherin girl who had been late to Arithmancy, although the girl looked even less excited to be there than the other lesson.
That only made her more determined to make the best of the lesson, and so she grinned at the headmistress as she made her way to a seat near the middle of the classroom. "Good morning Headmistress Gerlovich," she said, before tilting her head to one side as she looked closer. "Are you feeling okay?" The headmistress looked almost like she wanted to be there even less than Ashlyn did, and definitely less than she did, and her grin faded some. That didn't make the lesson seem much like it would be fun.
Watching as two students walked in, she smiled at each one, greeting them "Good morning." Shaking her head at the Gryffindor, "No, but I'll be fine." You could hear in her voice, she was really stuffed up. "Just got a cold that's all." Her eyes going to the door, she moved to behind her desk, feeling dizzy and sat down. "We'll just wait a little bit longer for any stragglers."

Orabelle walked into the classroom, not minding that she was probably a little bit late. She couldn't possibly rush from class to class after all. She was also very much aware that the headmistress would be teaching the class, but Orabelle Bellamonte did not rush for anyone - not even the headmistress. She entered the classroom with a respectful nod at the professor and a million galleon smile. "Good morning, Headmistress Gerlovich," she said, before really taking another look at the Headmistress. She looked sick, which meant Orabelle would probably be off the hook if she fell asleep mid-lesson. Beauty sleep was very important for any little princess. She smirked to herself before she took a seat. No way would she let the headmistress spot her with that little smirk on her face.
She pulled the chair out, took a seat before pushing herself in. What a pity there wasn't a knight in shining armor or a prince charming to do it for her. Whatever, Orabelle would live with it. She crossed her legs and took out a notebook and quill before folding her hands and smiling innocently waiting for the lesson to start. Because she was a good little Slytherin. Oh the irony.
Leaving the door open incase any students decided to still join them, Stef hoped that a few might still pop in. She had a fun project for the class to do! Smoothing her robes down her front self-consciously even though she obviously couldn't be showing yet. She hadn't been feeling good but at least there was a good reason...well a reason anyway.
Turning to the class as the slytherin girl entered the room and took a seat. "Can anyone tell me what ancient runes is and where it originated?"
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Orabelle figured that the professor wouldn't appreciate it if she said that Ancient Runes was the class they were currently taking, despite how it was optional. She kept a smile in place though before she raised her hand to answer the question. "Ancient Runes are, basically, runes which are an alphabet of sorts derived from the earliest Germanic alphabet," Orabelle said. She wasn't just pretty, of course. She also had a brain. However the second part of the question, she had no answer. Well, if it was from the Germanic alphabet, didn't it derive from Germany? Nah, probably not because Vikings had used it, so were the Vikings German? Oh, it confused her to no end.
"Correct, 1 point Ms. Bellamonte." with a nod she looked around at the class, "Anyone else want to add to that, or know the origin of Runes?" Backing up a little she sat on the edge of her desk that was behind her, and crossed her ankles. Maybe if she sat there awhile she wouldn't feel so dizzy! "Here's a hint it's from northern Europe."

Orabelle smirked at the mention of getting that one point. Right, origin... in the North... and in Europe, gee, that just narrowed down a whole bunch of places, didn't it? Not quite. Whatever, she was just going to take a stab at it since no one else seemed to want to. "Germany?" Orabelle said, hand raised and slightly uncertain. Because it did come from the Germanic alphabet so put two and two together and you get... duuuuuuh.
