As you enter the classroom you notice that all of the tables are stacked with fresh pieces of parchment of varying colors. Quills and ink are in abundance as well. Professor Rivers desk is empty at the moment however there is a silver mirror whose glass is black floating above her chair. Upon it is written in silver writing:
Quote:
Please come in and have a seat. Only two people per table please. Class will begin shortly, in the mean time please feel free to talk quietly among yourselves.

Walking into the classroom, JD found a seat at one of the tables off to one side. Glancing at the chair by the desk he noticed the glass above it. Reading the words, he looked around well, he was the first to arrive so that wasn't a problem.
He never did understand how he did so well in Divination, he thought the class was mundane, but well if you do well in a subject you should continue it right? Hmmm, then why did he still take Charms and Transfiguration...
Ashlyn walked into the classroom only to become aware that it was virtually empty. Seriously? She was early? Orrr... maybe everyone else dropped the class. Yes, that was more likely an explanation, she thought. Finding only one other person there at the moment, the Slytherin sauntered through the room in search of a seat. Now what was that boy's name? Ashlyn didn't really know him other than his reputation as a troublemaker, but she seemed to remember he was called by initials. Oh, that's it....
"Hi, DJ," she said as she walked past JD and sat down somewhat away from him. Not that she was trying to be rude, and yes she did normally like to be the center of attention, but she was worried his antics would draw unwanted teacher attention his way. And she needed no part of that. Especially when she barely paid attention to this snore of a class as it was.
Jessa walked into the Divination room. She never took this class, and wanted to learn. She sat down somewhat near JD, but saved an open spot for Eric. She looked at JD, smiled and waved. She turned to the Slytherin who seemed harsh. Well, Jessa wouldn't talk to her. No way was there going to be drama. She doesn't want to throw people in jail
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?

Looking up as someone said DJ he raised his eyebrows. Who in Merlin's purple trainers is DJ? He wondered looking around the room. The professor, he was positive wasn't DJ, it started with an S...he was almost sure of. Was she talking to him? "Erm, JD actually, hello." he said with a smile to the girl.
Glancing up hoping to see Penny. He'd not asked if she was taking Divination this term or not, but hoped she was. Watching as Jessa walked in, he grinned and waved "Hello Jessa." His eyes twinkling as she sat down at an empty table. He wasn't positive but almost, that Eric wasn't coming. JD knew Eric thought it a pointless subject. Shrugging his eyes went back to the door hoping for Penny to arrive.
Oh fiddlesticks! She knew she had forgotten something! Strolling into the Divination classroom she looked around for a seat. A smile lit her face when she saw JD and immediately made a bee line for his table. "Heya han'some."
Penny ran a hand through her hair and then rummaged around in her bag. Finally her fingers found the clip she had been looking for. With practiced movements she twisted her hair up so that it was out of her way. Sighing she leaned on the table for a moment and smiled at JD. "Been a long day."

Looking up as Penny entered he sighed happily, 'least now he wouldn't be singled out AGAIN by the Divination professor, because he didn't have a partner. "Hello lovely." he grinned winking at her. Looking up towards the professor, he wondered what they'd be learning that day.
Ugh, she hated the mundane subject of Divination but had always stuck through it since her third year. At least after this year she never had to take it ever again! Slipping through the door she slid into a seat nearest it, hoping everyone would ignore her...including the professor.
Aidan walked into the tower room hesitantly. This class had never gone well for him and he had no idea why he was here now. He was here however. Looking around he made note of those present. He didn't know where to sit. Finally he spotted a familiar face. He smirked and made a bee line for the table she was seated at. He plopped himself down across from her.
"How's your candy stash these days?" He smiled at Ashlyn.
A silver ladder lower from the ceiling allowing Syndil to descend into her classroom. Her dark blue robes pooled around her as she stepped onto the stone floor. With a wave of her hand the ladder raised itself back up and she smiled around at her students.
"Good afternoon." Pulling out her wand she waved it at the gilded mirror. Writing scrawled across it's blakc surface.
Jessabelle raised her hand hesitantly. "Isn't numerology knowing your life through numbers?" She wasn't sure, so her answer was more in the form of a question. She hoped she was right. Or that she would get points for attempting. Maybe they'd give Jessa points just for being the Minister's daughter.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Syndil smiled. She was so proud of her dear little Hufflepuff. "That's correct. Though only in part." She looked around at the students making sure that each of them was at least half way paying attention. "Numerology is more then just knowing your life...it's understanding yourself. Your personality. Your very Destiny."
The Professor waved her wand at her mirror. "Let's start off with something small. Your Life Path Number to being with. I'll use my own birthday to demonstrate."
June 21st 2041 6/21/2041 6+21+2041 2068 2+0+6+8 16 1+6 7
"Now when you find your number turn to the chapter in your books on Numerology and look over what your Life Number means. Ms. Leroy 2 points to Hufflepuff for your answer."
Walking over to her desk she perched on the edge to await the students.
Jessabelle smiled as she got points. Even though she wasn't exactly right, she still got points. Okay so they had to add their birthdays? Jessabelle took out a piece of parchment and write down her birthday:
December 31, 2062 12/31/2062 12+31+2062 2105 2+1+0+5 8
Jessabelle took out her text book, and turned to the chapter specified. Jessabelle raised her hand. "Now what, Professor?" She asked.
Eric and Jessa He's the head boy, She's the Minister's daughter. Can you say "Perfect Couple"?
Taking out her quill she took and wrote down her birthdate and quickly filled out the answer. She'd done this a few times over the years...but in arithmancy. Shaking her head, she didn't question what professor's said or did, she just followed what she was told.
Even though she already knew what her Life Path Number meant for her she still opened her book and turned to the page.

People with a numerology Destiny number of 2 are meant for positions of diplomacy and peacemaking. To move toward your destiny you can use your tact, power of persuasion and diplomatic skills to help others resolve differences. You may find great satisfaction and fulfillment in helping to resolve problems, even though it may not always be something that you are eager to do.

Taking a quill and parchment from his bag, he quickly filled out the his birthdate and got down to his life path number. Numbers...divination...everything not needing a wand came quickly to him!
Flipping open his book, he jotted down what it said about the number 3
Quote:
A Destiny number of 3 shows that you are meant to utilize creativity and optimism in life. Part of your job in life is to help other people realize the power of joy, laughter, and imagination. By helping others who may have lost the joy of living learn to appreciate life and live it to its fullest (and most joyful) you will find your own joy and fulfillment. Expressing yourself creatively is key to making this happen.
Hmm? Ashlyn glanced up as that initials boy spoke. Oops... apparently she got his name wrong. The 4th year gave JD an apologetic smile and mouthed the word sorry before resuming her daydreaming. She was vaguely aware of the class beginning to fill up as students filed in around her, glancing up just in time to see a familiar face heading right towards her. Ashlyn couldn't help but to smile as Aidan sat down across from her. Divination just got interesting.
She chuckled lightly at his question then gestured towards the sugar quill in her hand. Never hurts to come to class prepared, especially this one. And it would seem that class was about to begin. Ashlyn indifferently glanced at the professor and the writing on the mirror, then rolled her eyes as the Hufflepuff answered the question by reading from the mirror and got points for it! Whatever.
Pursing her lips slightly, Ashlyn listened as the Professor discussed Life Path numbers. Hmm... this was much like what they were doing in Arithmancy, so she was sure to have an easy time of it. That was perfectly fine with her.
After a quick nibble on the end of her sugar quill, Ashlyn began jotting down her birthdate - coming up soon, she thought to herself as a small smile played on her lips.
October 30, 2061 10-10-2061 (1+0)+(1+0)+(2+0+6+1) 1+1+9 11 1+1 2
So she was a number 2... Ashlyn furtively glanced over at Aidan, vaguely wondering what his birthday was before turning to the appropriate section in her book.
Syndil sat perched on her desk with a small smile watching as the students figured up their numbers and read what they meant. She loved watching the looks on their faces. Some of them were skeptical while others just look amazed or even confused. When she was positive that all of them at least had the right idea she cleared her throat to call their attention back to her.
"I'm sure that some of you remember doing this exercise in Arithmancy. Your life number is supposed to give you an idea of what you would be most suited for on a professional level. That however has already been covered in another class and isn't what I wanted to cover in this class."
With a flick of her wand her board erased itself and new information began to write itself across the shiny black surface.
"Now for this class and this subject we are going to take an in-depth look into our Destiny Numbers. There are several theories on how to interpret your Destiny number and we are going to look into a few of them. So, to be begin everyone will calculate their number using only your first and last name, and adding them both together until you get a single digit. Then you will look in your book and read your corresponding Destiny. I'm quite interested in your thoughts and feelings so please feel free to comment once you have made it this far."
With that she perched back on her desk to wait. It was interesting how the young mind worked and she was buzzing with excitement to hear their thoughts on the subject.

Numbers...bah, he really didn't like math at all, but well, Divination he was in and he needed to do as instructed. Taking his parchment he scribbled out the numbers, and worked out his name just like in the book. Hiding all the while what he was writing determined not to let anyone know his name. He was going to burn that paper once class was over!
Wait what did the head girl just ask? Looking down at her book then the board where the professors work had been done. Yeah which was right? Or did the professor not have a middle name?
