Upon entering the office you notice a large circular room with lots of windows, and portraits of the previous headmaster's and headmistress's from previous terms within Hogwarts. Along one wall is a large bookcase that goes all the way to the high ceiling. Behind Stef's desk is the sorting hat and beside that is Gryffindor's sword that is kept in a glass case. Along another wall is a large fireplace that is also connected to the floo network, for whenever it is needed.
On the desk is a picture of her and Warren on the beach in the Caribbean from the summer previous. Other then that there isn't much on the desk, but a quill, parchment and ink pot for whenever she might need them. She's pretty neat, and doesn't leave much lying around. In the center of the room is a nice sitting area, in which Stef prefers to sit and enjoy her company. It has some nice squashy chairs and couches all surrounding a soft, fuzzy rug, and in the very center is an ornate wooden table with a bowl of candied fruit in the center.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
"Well if it doesn't matter to you then it really doesn't matter to me," Warren said with a smirk as he pushed her hair behind her ear.
Hearing her question he shook his head and laughed, "Why is it you ask me that when you know very well what I have in mind?" Thought it amused him thoroughly that she did it almost every time. He slid his hand down her cheek to her shoulder with a smirk
Warren paced around the corridor eying the stupid gargoyles in front of Stefanie's offices debating whether to go up to her and complain for the bazillionth time or go let his frustrations out some other way. Shoving his hands in his pockets and muttering under his breath he said the password and as soon as the rudy things moved out of the way he took the stairs three at a time. He hadn't seen her in awhile anyway.
Reaching the landing he looked around, "Stef? Are you here?!"
Her face pale, she paced back and forth afraid to think, or even know what Warren's reaction would be. This was nuts, she couldn't be, no way, how on... Hearing his voice, she gasped and came out from the back room. She knew her face was still pale, but she had no idea what to think. She just couldn't be could she? NOoooo, no she just couldn't, that was that.
"I'm here." she said softly coming closer.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Seeing his fiancee come out on the back he frowned and started pacing. "Do you have ANY idea what your students are doing?!" He looked around and spotting the cabinet he had stashed some firewhiskey in marched over to it. "Like they have no decency. I'm TIRED of being the only one around her to set some bloody rules." He threw open the cabinet and searched through it. Where was the stuff? "And that Ravenclaw boy...he's the ringleader. EVERY TIME I see him he's up to something and I'm about ready to chain him to the dungeon wall just to prove a bleeding point!" He shoved things out of the way in the cabinet and frowned not seeing his bottle. "WHERE IS THE BOTTLE I HAD IN HERE?!" he yelled slamming the cabinet door closed.
Seeing that he already wasn't in the greatest mood, maybe he'd want to get at least more information before he really blew, 'cause then she'd not have more bad...disturbing news once he calmed down. Merlin....she was already freaking out, fire whiskey actually sounded good, and she hated the stuff! "Warren....I think I..." clearing her throat she spoke a little louder, 'cause she realize she was nearly squeaking, "I think I'm pregnant."
Watching as he opened a cabinet demanding to know where the whiskey was, "Next cabinet, that's my pensieve."
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Bloody kids! He hated them! Good thing he didn't have to worry about having any of his own. Everyone knew he'd be a terrible father. No patience at all. The thoughts continued on as he stared at her not hearing a word what she said other than he had been looking in the wrong cabinet. No he hadn't. He turned to look and frowned. He had. Damn it! "I know it's the next cabinet! Don't you think I know that!" he yelled clearly irritated at himself as he walked over to the cabinet and grabbed the handle to the door.
It was then that his brain caught up with him and he froze. She was what?! Turning around he looked at her in disbelief. "No you're not." It was a fact. She couldn't be. She had told him so. Right OBVIOUSLY she was mistaken. Yup. Clearly mistaken now...where was the firewhiskey.
Hearing him explode again, would have been funny if she'd really been in the mode of just ignoring each of his outbursts he tended to have. She was quite used to them, really. She knew eventually he'd calm down, and they'd sit and chat and all would be good and well, and things would be fine. But they weren't this time, she was....Merlin, no this wasn't right.
"No, of course not." she said softly sinking into a chair slowly. "I can't be...this isn't right." She couldn't, nothing about this felt right. She was past that, she'd always believed that, St. Mungo's healers had said that, it was too late! "I can't....just can't be."
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
AH HA! BOTTLE! He won. Take that hiding bottle. Grabbing it out of the cabinet with a glass, Warren shut the cabinet door and walked over to where Stefanie was sitting in a chair. Was she still on about that? It was impossible she had told him so earlier so...yeah. "Well you're not. Maybe you should go see a healer see what illness you have," he said casually as he sat down on the sofa, opened the bottle, and poured a good amount into the glass. Yup there was NOTHING wrong here because it wasn't possible. Right? Right.
"So what are we going to do about these kids? Its inexcusable really. Kissing in the corridor. Setting things on fire. Utterly ridiculous." He raised the glass to his lips and took a long swallow.
"I got one of those muggle tests......." she murmured. Yeah, muggle ones. She didn't want NO staff to know she might be, nor a healer at St. Mungo's, 'cause if word got back to the minister, Merlin that'd be worse then when Adam's quintaped had gotten loose! "Of course, I have to be wrong...there's just no way...it's been years!"
Kids...? Wait oh, right, he'd been ranting about the kids again. "Do you think we need to up punishment?" she asked with a tired sigh.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Muggle tests? What was she going on about? Taking a sip of his drink he snorted. "Maybe I have good swimmers," he joked nearly choking himself up. Only because he knew there was NOOOOOOOOOOO way she was going to have a little him. Nope. And he wasn't in denial...no he was sure of himself. Mmhmm.
"Only if I can lock them in the dungeon and throw away the key," he said setting down his glass and putting his feet up on the table clearly a lot more relaxed. "Maybe have a chaperone on the ring leader at all times." That would the boys plans for the rest of the term he was sure.
A small smile appeared at his words. "Maybe..." she said softly. She was terrified to take that blasted test! She didn't want to know...no she did, she just ARGHHHH, this couldn't be happening, she was forty-two for Merlin's sake, she shouldn't be worried about this! No, she wasn't pregnant, just feeling sick..and dizzy...and crampy...no nope not at all, nothing was wrong. Her eyes going back to the back room where her bathroom was, she sighed shaking her head. "It can't be." she muttered.
Her eyebrow went up as he asked if they could lock them in the dungeons and throw away the key, "well if you let them out to go home at the end of the year, and fed them, maybe it could be arranged." she teased. Nodding, she made a face "Might not be a bad idea. Penny seems pretty down to earth, maybe she'd be willing to keep an eye on him, being she's in the same house."
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
"Oh will you relax. You aren't pregnant so stop being so...weird..." Warren said eying her. Why she was freaking out he really didn't know. OBVIOUSLY she was just over exaggerating things. Shaking his head he picked up his glass again and took another sip. Women.
"Really?!" How perfect that would be. Get in trouble. Lock you in the dungeon. HA he loved it. Hearing her solution to Mr. Troublemaker he lowered his glass and shook his head, "NO! She was the one he was KISSING!" Wasn't she listening at all to what he said? And the fact that they were in the same house...OI! He didn't want to think what might happen there!
"How can you be so absolutely sure?" she asked in amazement. She would have thought he'd have gone flipping out even more then he had been about the kids! She was nearly shaking in fear of being pregnant. She figured he just obviously didn't want children, he dealt with them enough here at school but to have one running around the house??? She'd love to have a child, always had, but now??? Oiiiii!!!
She was the one who...Oh Merlin, really? "Extra security for the Ravenclaw room then? Perhaps Rowena herself?" she asked uncertain if the ghost would even do that. "Or the statue if we must."
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
"How can I be sure? You said you couldn't. I'm pretty sure I can't or else I might have a horde by now.... So no. You're not pregnant." Yup he KNEW this. It was absurd to think otherwise. He crossed his ankles and looked at Stefanie. She was freaking out sighing he leaned forward again and set the glass on the table. "Look if you're really that worried go to the hospital wing. They'll be able to tell you for sure." Though he knew for sure that she wouldn't be.
"I doubt Rowena would want to play chaperone to a couple of hormone ridden teenagers," he said casually as he kicked off his shoes and laid down on the couch with a sigh.
Her eyes widening at his suggestion, "I can't do that...if the minister even suspects, I can't imagine what she'd do!" she managed nibbling on her bottom lip. "The muggle test...I think would be the best option...for now." she added softly. Merlin, she didn't know if she could handle the truth if it turned out her fears had basis!
Scratching her chin, she looked over at him as he laid down, "Perhaps Ivan?"
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
What in the WORLD did the Minister have to do with this? Leaning his head back he eyed her with a frown, stamping down a flash of irritation. "What could she possibly do? You told me you had told her we were engaged? She's a grown woman! I doubt she's stupid and naive..." he trailed off with a mutter. Honestly. Though he was sure Becca would have a good laugh but it wouldn't matter because she was NOT PREGNANT! Wasn't even going to entertain the thought otherwise. "You do whatever you feel like Stef," he said staring up at the ceiling.
Ivan? "He's the one dating my Slytherin Head Girl right?" Not that he cared it was just his job to know things especially when it came to his Prefects. Couldn't have one having an emotional break down.
"I just don't know what she would do..." Taking a deep breath, she got up and headed for the back. That was it, she was going to prove that this was all nothing not a thing. She couldn't be pregnant, that was that. For years now, she'd been told it was too late. And, well...it was!
"Yes, I believe so." she called from the back before closing the door.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Warren closed his eyes and shook his head as he listened to Stefanie. What she would do? She really was thinking too much into it. Hearing movement he turned his head to see her walking to the bathroom. What was she up to?
"That might be a good idea. I've never had any problems with those two." In fact that he didn't even remember having a conversation with her.... Hmm. Frowning he sat up and dropped his socked feet on the floor. "What are you doing?"
She could hear him talking but it was muffled. Coming out of the bathroom she had a box in her hand, and was studying the paper that was in her other hand. "I have no idea how this works. I think I did it right...but I'm not sure..." Turning the paper over, she wrinkled her forehead. "This is really confusing!"
"What was that about her?" she asked looking over at him as she sat down on the couch with the box and paper in her hands.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
What was she doing in there? Warren watched as the door opened and she came out with what looked to be a box in one hand and paper in the other. "Did what right?" Waaaaaaaait....was she serious? "Stef..what is that?" he asked eying her then the box. She was joking right?
"I said I'd never had any problem with those two. Now what is that in your hand? You can't really think you're pregnant...." He had to stop himself from laughing. It was almost too much. "You're probably just stressed. I know you don't sleep like you should."
"It's that muggle test." she said simply, hadn't he heard her say she had one of them? Her face was still pale as she sat down, because she was downright terrified of the answer. He was going to run if it was yes wasn't he? That or down the bottle sitting on the table in front of them. Or...maybe both. Hmmmm running half drunk. That might be humerous!
Nodding as he said he'd not had problems with those two. "Good, then maybe we should ask Ivan." Dropping the empty box on the table, she shrugged, "It's better to know now, and be relieved it's not...I'm not..." Oi, she couldn't even say it! "I don't even want to go check...then again what would it mean?" she asked looking down at the paper, everything looked just so jumbled.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
A muggle test? Really?! Pffffffft. "You really should have just gone to the healer if you're that worried." He leaned back on the couch again and watched her curiously. IF she was..and that was a big if...what would that mean? Could be BE a dad. Well that was a big no. He didn't like kids. Every day he woke up dreading whatever mess was going to happen that day.
"Yeah sure..." he said offhandedly clearly done with the whole JD kissing topic. "What would it mean? Well my guess is it'll tell you if you are or not," he teased trying to get her to lighten up. "Look. I really don't think you are but...whatever happens, happens. If I were going to leave it'd have been long before now." And wasn't that the truth. He didn't do long term..or well...hadn't. And here he was engaged after he had promised himself he'd never attempt that again. "Now go ease your worries so we can go eat."
Taking a deep breath, she glanced towards the bathroom "According to this it should be ready to read..." Looking over at him as he spoke she smiled softly, in spite of her nerves. "I never thought you would." she said honestly. She didn't think he'd run and never come back, thought he might go blow off steam, but leave for good? Nope, she'd never thought he'd do that not from the moment she'd met him.
Leaving the paper on the chair's arm, next to her, she figured she'd leave the directions for later, and see what the test thingy said. Getting up she went back to the bathroom and came back with it in it's case. Looking down at it, she studied it curiously. It had two lines on it in one spot and one in the other. WHAT THE HECK! "Why doesn't the darn thing just say yes or no?" she muttered. Sitting down on the chair again she shook her head, looking over at Warren she tossed him the paper, "What does 2 lines mean?"
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Seeing her smile Warren smiled in return. That was more like it. Though he could tell she was still nervous. He watched as she got up again and walked to the bathroom. Taking a deep breath he leaned back again and stared at the glass of firewhiskey sitting on the table. Could she be...? No. Absolutely not. That was just crazy talk.
He looked up as she came back and caught the paper she tossed his way. "What does what mean? Huh?" Why couldn't she just look?! He eyed the paper turning it around and sideways to find what she was talking about. "Stef I don't see..." Finally he found what she was talking about and nearly dropped the paper. What? No...that wasn't possible.... He looked at her and then back at the paper. "You said two?"
Well then.... this wasn't good. He wasn't even sure how to act. If that test was right then she was.... He swallowed hard then looked up at her.
