Alexis sat down at the staff table, she waited patiently smiling at all the new coming students. She wanted food though, it was a long ride to get here. She was also very excited to meet her fellow Professor's.
Charlotte walked up to the staff table and looked down at all the little students. Then she looked around at her colleagues, seeing which ones were there so far. She spotted a woman and sat down next to her with a smile. "Hello," she said. "I am Charlotte Hazelton, the new nurse."

Alexis looked at the girl who walked up to her, "Hello," She replied, "I am Alexis Lemur, the Muggle Studies Professor, and Ravenclaw Head of House." She smiled, looking out at the empty tables...hmm, strange, no students have appeared to show up. "It's nice to meet you, Charlotte." She said, wanting food.
Making her way up to the staff table through the students entering Stef noticed a few staff already at the table and gave them a small smile. Nervously looking around she still had a hard time believing that that woman at the ministry could have chosen her to be headmistress. She wondered where Warren had gone off to, he said he'd be there...but when?
Taking her seat in the middle she hoped he'd at least sit by her to calm her nerves.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?

Warren walked into the Great Hall in his robes though he loathed the things and looked around at the students with narrowed eyes. He had to stop himself from smirking as the students scrambled out of his way as he walked up to the Staff table. Yeah he was the big bad ex auror with a temper problem. Fear him.
Only one person knew the full truth of that though, well two but one that mattered now, and she was sitting in her seat as the Headmistress. Taking a seat to her right because, well he was special, he looked out at the students and slipped his hand under the table to touch her leg where no one would see. He did have to keep up appearances after all.
Sighing with relief as she saw Warren walking through the midst of the students. With him there at least she'd feel a little more at ease. So far she'd not recognized any of the professors. Was that to be expected? Hadn't any of the previous ones stayed? Seriously, where was Jesse and Eleanora?
Relaxing a little more as he touched her leg she smiled softly over at him. "I feel so outta place." she whispered. Like erm, shouldn't she be sitting as close to one of the exits as possible, not in the center of the table?

Warren looked at Stefanie and leaned toward her ear out of view of the students. "You aren't out of place love. You will be fantastic," he whispered before kissing her cheek. "I'm here don't forget that," he nipped her ear lobe briefly and gave her leg a squeeze before turning back to watch the students.
Hearing his words she knew were probably right, she just couldn't figure how she of all people could have been chosen still. The position hadn't really sunk in yet. When it did, maybe she'd be more at ease... Blushing at his little nip a smile appeared on her face.
Following his gaze around the room at the students, she was glad at least for right then everything was normal, students filtering in, the sorting all of it. As she was glancing down the table at the two women sitting there, she realized one thing!
"Dear Merlin..." she whispered "I forgot I'm supposed to do a speech."
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Warren walked back up to the staff table with his robe now clean and a definite scowl on his face. "First day of the new term and I already have two in detention after this," he muttered as he took his seat beside Stefanie and looked out at the students fixing hard glares on the Headboy and Ravie counterpart. "Your Headboy and that annoying claw."
After the initial shock of realizing she was going to have to make a speech, she was watching the Ravenclaw table, thinking about last term, and how she'd had to deal with the one...wait where was he? Her eyes flickered to the Hufflepuff table when she saw food flying and Warren rising quickly. A twinkle in her eyes, made her grin. NO SPEECH! Too much was going on, why should she interrupt such a festive feast?
Wait, Warren was stopping it...NO! Erm, no wait, maybe that is a good idea. She couldn't help bursting out laughing softly when he got hit with the pie though. Forcing a straight face as he came back and sat down, "We'll just have to keep an eye on him...he erm should know better." Fighting the giggle that threatened, she shook her head.
"Suppose the feast is pretty much over." Taking a deep breath, she closed her eyes briefly before rising. Speech it is...
"Welcome back to those of you who are returning, and a grand welcome to the new students." She began with a smile. "Feel free to linger and help the two kind gentlemen who have offered to tidy up the Great Hall before bed if you wish. Otherwise off to bed to you all."
Sitting back down her face flaming hot, she reached and took a long drink of her water.

Hogwarts. She never thought in a million years that she'd walk these halls again and yet she was, running quite late to the feast... and her first day on the job. Walking briskly yet gracefully, Mariel's modest heels made a slight click-clack sound on the stone floor as she advanced to the Staff table. Green eyes scanned the table as she realized she knew no one - not that she was surprised - except the Headmistress who she had met briefly during her job interview, and the young woman realized in slight horror that she was entering at the tail end of the Headmistress's opening speech. What a bad first impression!
"Headmistress, please forgive my tardiness," Mariel spoke quietly as she passed behind the woman on the way to her seat at the Staff table. She gave the others a modest smile as she lowered herself into her seat. Merlin, was she embarassed! But at least she was just in time for the food...
Ears perking up at the sound of laughter and chatter she padded around the corner and paused at the door. Her nose picked out the wonderful aromas of the food that was being devoured but under that was emotions. Nervousness, eagerness, mischief, you name it and she could smell it. Bright amber eyes scanned over each face committing them to memory. Even on four legs she was extremely tall and could see easily.
The staff table was nearly full and it seemed she was the last to arrive. Syndil smiled at that. Her eyes shifted to her own house table and she was happy to see all the students both new and old. Her stomach growled in answer to the food and she would have laughed if she could have. As it was it came out a sort of gruff puffing noise that made some of the children closest to her jump.
Ignoring them she padded toward the staff table searching for an empty seat and perhaps a friendly face.
A door was thrown open with a loud bang. Standing in the space where the door had been was a dripping wet woman holding a broomstick in one hand and a wand in the other. Flicking her hair from her face, she took in the sight of the students in the hall. She'd missed this place. Sighing at the water by her feet, she frowned momentarily and then walked through the hall, shivering and muttering to herself about Thestrals.
When she reached the top table, she nodded to Stef, walked behind the table and threw down her broom. "Stupid thestrals." she murmured before sitting next to a blonde woman. She twisted the bottom of her robes and sighed at the water that had been wrung from it. "Sorry, Headmistress. Had a run in with a Thestral and then the giant squid." she glanced at the broom and then smiled wryly.
"Sorry, Eva Brown, Charms." Her head nodded at each staff member before she pushed her hair from her face and slumped in her seat. How embarrassing.
Hearing two people enter behind her, Stef kept the smile on her face as she finished her speech. What was she gonna do? Discipline her staff for being late, pfft. She had no idea what she do for discipline let alone for her staff. Have them write words? Baaaaahaaaaaa, that thought made her eyes twinkle in laughter. Well it appears more then just the women were late, like for instance where on earth was her History of Magic and DADA professors? Warren wasn't the only male professor that term. And where in Merlin's name was Luke? Hadn't he brought in the students?
About to turn to Warren she jumped nearly a foot as she heard a bang when the door slammed open. Looking up she saw who she'd only assume was her charms professor walking in thoroughly drenched. Her eyes widening, she watched as the woman sat down next to Syndil. "Everything alright?" she asked quietly. She never thought the thestrals were a problem...and the squid?
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Her eyes turned back to the Headmistress. "Yeah." she sighed softly. "I just didn't see the thestral 'til the last second, I swerved to avoid it. Landed in the lake. Totally my fault." Ha-de-ha. Now everyone was going to laugh at her and she'd be the clumsy idiot professor. "Just casually sitting here..dripping wet.." she muttered to herself softly before closing her eyes. Please don't remember this. Please don't. She was hoping so much that people would forget this incident. Not likely.
Well, at least she didn't appear to be in trouble, Mariel thought, as she noticed the Headmistress barely seemed to realize her late arrival. She just hoped she wouldn't be reprimanded later in private... No need to dwell on that now though, the Potions mistress was starving. Trying not to appear too eager, she helped herself to a spoonful of mashed potatoes, but stopped her spoon mid-air in surprise at the next arrival to the Great Hall.
Was that a... ? Green eyes blinked several times at the beast advancing towards the Staff table. Several old memories flooded her - some not so pleasant. After a brief pause, Mariel relaxed a bit and finished her bite of potatoes as she relized that yes, it was just a wolf not a...
BANG!
Mariel nearly jumped out of her skin at the sudden sound of the slamming door. Merlin, she needed to relax, she thought, attributing her nervousness to first-day jitters. Watching as a (very wet!) woman came through the door and to the Staff table, she gave her a friendly smile at the introduction, then offered her own name. At least she wasn't the only one late, she thought as she overheard her story. "Mariel Petrova, new Potions Mistress, nice to meet you." Then she turned back to her dinner, keeping an eye on the wolf and wondering if it was an animagus and just who's it might be.
Nodding at the girl, she gently smiled sympathetically "Hopefully the warm foo..." her eyes trailing back over the students as she heard a few gasps, and chairs moving her eyes fell on a wolf. Rising from her seat, she glanced at Warren. Hmmmm, animagus, she hoped anyway. Unfortunately for them, there was no Care of Magical Creatures professor yet that term.
Squeaking out you could barely make out the words she said, but then gathered herself, "Declare yourself...?" hesitantly she added the question to her voice at the end. Hoping that if it were an animagus they'd show themself.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Warren eyed the professors that were showing up late. Really? Showing up late for your first day of work. Ridiculous. He was about to whisper a smart remark when he spotted the wolf and his eyes narrowed. Catching the glance that Stefanie gave him he pushed his chair back and stood up glaring at the wolf his arms crossed. He was the muscle to Stefanie's hesitant question and would always be if things went as well as they had been.
"Nice to meet you too." Eva nodded again, smiling at the woman. Her eyes trailed back to the Headmistress as she rose from her seat. Actually seeing what was there now, Eva blinked once, rubbed her eyes and blinked again. "Is that..?" she shifted uncomfortably as a guy got up and faced the wolf too. "Huh." Now this was getting kinda, for want of a better word, scary. As she tried to get up from her chair to help, she slipped on her robe and fell back down. "I'll just..stay down..then." she rested her elbow on the chair and her head on her hand.
Syndil was halfway up the aisle when the Headmistress stood and with a bit of apprehension in her eyes. From the reactions of some of the other Professor's they were all seeing something too. Puzzled she swung her head around to glanced behind her, ears cocked forward in confusion. What were they all staring at? It wasn't until the gentlemen sitting next to the Headmistress stared dead at her that Syndil realized what the problem was.
Chuckling, which came out as a small tail wag, Syndil stopped and shifted. Grey and white fur melted into long blonde locks and roped muscles contorted into a lean figure. Her purple robes swished around her lithe form while a pair of matching purple ballet flats covered feet where paws had been.
Syndil smiled at her fellow staff members though her eyes finally rested on the Headmistress. "I apologize for my unorthodox entrance Headmistress. After traveling long distances on four paws it's hard for one to remember to shift back. Syndil Rivers at your service." She curtsied gracefully her tone dreamy.
Wow talk about an entrance... Stef thought silently. She'd been very happy at Warren's presence at her elbow though. If the woman hadn't returned to human form and it had been a wolf she was sure his instinct would have taken over. Breathing a soft sigh of relief, she smiled softly at the woman. "It's a pleasure, Ms. Rivers."
Returning to her seat, she watched as a few students began standing up. "Do eat before the delicious food disappears from us." she added quietly, her hand reaching over to Warren's.
Til now I always got by on my own. I never really cared until I met you. alone And now it chills me to the bone. How do I get you?
Warren watched as the wolf turned back into a woman and he frowned disapprovingly. Really...scaring kids like that for no reason. His eyes moved toward Stefanie as she relaxed and sat back down. Uncrossing his arms he sat down beside Stef. At least he didn't have to deal with it.
He looked at Stefanie as she spoke and took her hand in his as he reached over with his other to grab a glass of water. "Are you okay?" he whispered glancing over at the other professors before looking back at her. "Perhaps you should eat before you get all nervous again."
Her eyes widening as the wolf transformed back into a woman, Eva couldn't help but think that this was a strange animagus form to have. Having some food instead of attempting to speak or move any more than she had to, her eyes followed the blonde woman interestedly. She seemed dreamy. Hmm. Maybe she was divination? That had been the only teacher in the school who was dreamy when she was learning.
He leaned casually against the door of the Great Hall watching all the kiddos eat and talk. They were always rowdy the first couple of weeks. He always had to run extra rounds of security those first few weeks. He had gone over those trunks with a fine tooth comb but somehow they always managed to sneak something by him. He smiled at that. The sneaky little buggers.
Amused smirk still in place he ambled his way around the perimeter of the Great Hall heading towards the Staff Table. He had done his homework and knew each of the Professors by name and reputation. It was his job as Groundskeeper to make sure that the students remained safe. That included full background checks for all of the staff.
He was extremely interested in a few of them but preferred to keep that to himself for the time being. When he finally reached the table he took one of the end seats. Still watchful he piled a few things onto his plate and dug into his dinner.
