Opposite a tapestry showing Barnabas the Barmy trying to teach trolls to dance the ballet you will find a blank wall. Pass it three times while concentrating on what you need and you'll discover this enchanted room, also known as the Come-and-Go room, stocked up with exactly what you need.
Passionate :: Excited by Danger :: Desire to leave your mark on the World!
Mildly irritated at the current situation Penny trudged up to the seventh floor and made three determined circuits in front of the blank wall. Her grey eyes watched as the door appeared and she felt some of the tension ease away. All she wanted was a nice, relatively quiet place to relax for a while. Outside was out of the question since it was snowing like crazy. The Great Hall was still crowded with people which wouldn't have bothered her except for the annoying first years. Even the library was over run and the librarian seemed to be ignoring the obnoxious third years that were working on a project.
So, the Room of Requirement was her last hope. Penny fiddled with her necklace, a nervous habit she had developed since JD had given it to her. Somehow touching it soothed her. Finally she pushed through the finished door and sighed with relief. She stepped into the room and pulled her shoes off letting her feet sink into the plush carpet. There were love seats, overstuffed bean bag chairs that two people could comfortably occupy, and feather pillows all over the room.
The walls were lined with bookshelves with books of every kind and one book shelf had nothing but blankets. The farthest wall sported a very large fireplace that was giving off enough heat to make everyone in the room warm.
Grinning, Penny tucked some red hair behind her ear and picked a large love seat closest to the fire and sank in. Reaching into her pocket she pulled out the latest letter that her parents had sent. Belatedly she wished she had found JD and had him come with her. Shrugging she opened the letter and began to read.

After the History of Magic Professor had finally excused them, JD had went straight to the great hall, Upon arriving he'd found everyone that didn't want to be out in the snow in the hall eating, talking, playing, chattering. All in all being way to loud for his mood at the moment. He wanted to be out flying, but of course Professor Rodemiere still had refused to return his broomstick. HIS BROOMSTICK!!! There you have it the guy was nuts, just nuts! JD hadn't meant to fly into his blackboard. Well not really.
Having loaded his pack with everything from bottles of water and juice to chips and sandwiches wrapped in napkins, JD headed straight for the Room of Requirement. He felt he had enough to last for a week at least. Ok maybe a few days, anything to be away from everyone just to keep from blowing at them because he couldn't fly.
As the door appeared he flung it open and shut it with a snap behind him, dropping his pack on the table nearest the door. Sighing he could already feel the irritation draining now that he couldn't hear the chatter from the corridor behind the closed door. Wait...this wasn't looking around at the decor he found it wasn't what he'd imagined but still would do just fine. But that meant...
Looking around he spotted the top of a head facing the fire. "Hallo?"
Penny sighed and threw her letter into the fire. The nerve! She loved her daddy to death but he could be a big moron when he wanted to be. The letter from her grandpa was still intact since he had been a little supportive. Frustrated she blew some stray hair off her forehead and went to fiddling with her necklace.
The sound of the door opening and closing made her jump up from the seat and move into the shadows. It wasn't that she was jumpy, she just didn't want to put up with more Slytherins. In this school you just didn't know. She wasn't sure who it was until he spoke. She'd know that voice anywhere. Penny grinned and stayed in the shadows.

Popping the top off one of the bottles of water, JD looked around him, wishing there was something to put the food in to keep it cold. But would that be part of Gamp's law? Nope an ice box appeared in the corner and walking over he stuck the sandwiches inside. Turning around at the voice he grinned, now that southern voice he recognized without a question! "Penny. Whatcha hidin' from?" he asked teasingly. He had a pretty good idea, it had definitely appeared for one Slytherin's had taken over the school.
But maybe perhaps that the entire school was indoors it seemed as well, with it being so cold outside? Either way she had the right idea, time to find some place that was quiet, empty and away from the noise of all the students everywhere! Nabbing his bottle again he took a drink before recapping it. "Do I need te find ye?" he asked his eyes twinkling in laughter.
Penny watched as he deposited some food into a cooler that appeared at his need. It seemed her boyfriend had come better provisioned then she had. She moved a bit along the wall keeping to the shadows. She stifled a giggle at his challenge. It hadn't taken him long to identify her, she would have tried to speak in a different manner but she was horrible at other accents. Not to mention that her southern accent stuck out entirely too much here.
"Well, I would think so since ya are intudin' in MY Room of Requirement." She replied. Her tone was sassy and challenging. "Didn' care for tha crowds either hmm."

A smirk appeared on his face as she agreed that he should find her. "Intruding hmmm?" he asked "Well I brought food, I think enough fer a week even." he added with a chuckle his gaze flickering around the room, where now the shadows appeared even greater then before. "Well 'tis not fair if ye expand shadows te hide better in here." he said teasing. Whether she realized it or not, the shadows had definitely increased. Putting the water bottle on the table, he headed in the direction of her voice.
"Marco." he called before laughter escaped again. He couldn't help it, the game took on a whole new meaning with that ickle firstie who used it whenever someone said his name. "Yeah, and without a broomstick te escape on, 'tis making me a bit snippy."
"Polo." After speaking she switched directions ducking behind a sofa and moving to the other side of the room. Was it her imagination or had the room gotten darker? Well this was the Room of Requirement after all. She watched with eyes sparkling in mischief as he put his water down and got down to business. She loved this side of him. Willing to have fun and play at the drop of a hat.
"I know what ya mean. If I have ta deal with another Slytherin joke about my hair or my accent I'm gonna brand someone." That said she moved along the wall some more to keep from getting stuck in a corner. It wasn't that she couldn't take the occasional insult because she could. It was that being cooped up in this castle had everyone on edge and Slytherin's dealt with things by throwing insults and mocking people. The fact that she was a foreigner made her an easy target.

Haha! She joined the game. Sliding onto the couch knees first he peered behind where he was sure that he'd heard the voice. Now hearing it from another direction behind him, he shook his head his eyes still twinkling in laughter. "Marco!" Grinning he turned around towards where the voice last came from. This sure beat listening to Eric tease him about the last time they'd been caught kissing! Which Eric never seemed to get bored from doing.
Wonder why he never caught Eric and Jessa kissing... hmmm odd. Game! He waited a minute letting his eyes search the growing darkness with just the firelight to really put out a glow. "Ugh, I can imagine." Poor thing, really being teased because of her beautiful accent? "That's 'orrible!" He could imagine that the one teasing possibly was a Slytherin female that began with the letter O?
"Polo!" Again she shifted around the room and got closer to the fire. Penny hoped the light from the fire wouldn't catch in her hair or he'd see her for sure. Then he had to go bringing up the Slytherins which brought her temper back to boiling.
"No, what'll be horrible is tha brand I giv'em if they don't learn to leave me alone." She said through gritted teeth. She had been moving all the time and only just realized her mistake. She'd back herself into a corner! Thinking quickly she dodged behind a couch to try and get to the other side of the room praying he hadn't seen her.

"Mar..." was that her? Nope only a shadow...too many shadows! "I believe ye." he said nodding. He knew unless she could see him in the firelight she wouldn't see it but really it was just a reflex. He could totally see Penny doing something if Orabelle said anything more. She was a bit annoying at times, but at least JD didn't really have to deal with the Slytherin all that much.
Spotting her move "AHA!" he said jumping up and wrapping his arms around her when he got close enough. "So ye thought it'd be nice te get away then te." he said softly. Not a bad idea really!
As his arms snapped around her she giggled and made a show of squirming but wasn't really trying to get away and they both knew it. She turned in his arms and smiled. "I was lookin' for a good, quiet place away from all the noise. It's seems like I wasn't tha only one."

Grinning as she giggled and even tried to get away, he adjusted as she turned in his arms. Holding her close he leaned his forehead against hers looking down into her eyes. "I'm thinking our thoughts being the same 'tis the best thing I've heard all week." Or year, considering how things have gone so far! "So what were ye doin' before I appeared?"
Penny kissed him lightly for a moment. His question made her remember the letter. Sighing she grabbed his hand and led him to the couch she had been occupying. She curled up next to him taking a moment to get her thoughts together.
"Remember how I told ya I was gonna tell my Daddy and Granddaddy about you? Well I got their answers back today."

Smiling at her kiss, that was one thing that he loved about her, so quiet and gentle. Letting her lead him to the couch he relaxed his arm staying around her as she curled up next to him. Her words hit him with the meaning. She'd mentioned they might not be thrilled, but...what could they do when she was at school really? Ok, probably a lot. "What did they say?" he asked softly
"Well Granddaddy was okay with it. Just gave the usual advice, make sure you treat me right and the like. Daddy was a bit of a rascal too and momma made it work." She ruffled his hair a bit but couldn't muster up a smile.
"Daddy on the other hand." Penny took a shaky breath and plunged on. "Daddy wants me to break up with you immediately. If I don't he won't let me come home after the school year is up." Tears sprang to her eyes and she got up and started pacing. The letter had been hard to read saying these things out loud were even harder.
"He says that he knows your type and your gonna leave me. That it's inevitable." A sob escaped on the last word. Anger bubbled up and burst forth with more tears. "He's wrong though! He doesn't know what he's talking about!" Normally she didn't get this worked up over things but this was different. The contents of the letter were playing on some deep insecurities that she had. Even the most confident girls were insecure sometimes right?
She looked at JD. "Tell me he's wrong." She whispered. "You aren't gonna leave me for someone prettier right?"

Nodding as she spoke, a small smile appeared on his face about her grandfather's advice and even when she said her dad was a bit of a rascal too. Ok, yeah he'd give that to her. Though trouble usually found him, and he didn't have nothing to do with it happening! Like when Simon started the food fight by smashing a pie in his face, or Eric starting one this term by throwing a roll at him! Ok, him crashing into the board was his fault he should have been watching where he was flying, but still!
When she said what her dad said his eyes narrowed though. How could he be so cruel, the guy didn't even know him! He wanted to change that and try and talk to him, but knew it was that he was being protective of his daughter. If only he knew how much JD had been hurt maybe it would change something as well. Doubtful though.
He shook his head as she spoke more, saying her father knew that JD would hurt Penny. He would never do that, ever! He could tell now that she was very close to more then a few tears that he could now see glistening in her eyes as he watched her. His face full of concern, rising to his feet, he went to her his hand touching her chin as he looked down at her.
"Penny I would never, ever do that." His eyes searched hers as he spoke "There is no one thet's prettier, not by a long shot, and I wouldn't leave no matter what happens." If she wanted to separate or break up he'd hurt, certainly but he'd not leave her. Family was important, though at the moment his dad wasn't high on his list, but he wouldn't step between her father and her.
He would mention he'd been hurt twice by Anya, then Ellie and finally Alexandra, but she knew all that, he just needed to assure her that nothing would make him leave. "If ye wish te, I'll understand. I won't come between ye and yer father. But I won't leave, I'll still be here." he said softly.
Penny was touched by everything he said even more so as she saw the truth in his eyes. She knew her Dad had been wrong. She loved the man to no end but he could be as stubborn as a mule sometimes. Sniffing a little she managed to clam herself down enough to speak. "I'm not lettin' ya go that easy. You may be a rascal but your my rascal." To prove her point she grabbed his shirt and kissed with everything she had.
Penny had no doubt that her father would have a few things to say about her decision but he would deal with it. If he didn't back down then she could always go and stay with Granddad. Being with JD felt right and she wasn't going to give that up for anything or anyone.

A grin appeared as she spoke, "Good." he replied softly. Then she was kissing him! His arms wrapped around her tightly as they kissed. He would have respected her decision if she'd followed what her dad had said to do. But he was happier then ever that she'd still chosen him. As they broke apart, he rested his forehead back on hers. "Yer incredible, ye know thet." he whispered.
It didn't matter what happened with her dad, all he knew was they were going to do it together and nothing would change that!
