Day 30

Scripture: John 16: 33 "I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world."

Application: Jesus here tells us that you should have peace in Him because He has overcome the world. Think about what He overcame. He conquered sin and death, and we fear that through Him we can’t conquer a few pounds of extra weight on the body? Not so, He tells us to take heart, or it might be read, “Take this to heart”. Just as you feel you cannot stay on a diet for another moment, or when you are rounding up close to your goal weight, and you truly believe you are never going to make it, take heart, for if He has overcome the world, He has already overcome a few pounds of weight on your body. He holds a victory already in store for you. Like salvation, it has to be claimed by you. If you truly desire it the victory has already been won. We need to think of ourselves as winners, not losers. There is no obstacle in life that can prevent us from receiving the victory that He holds in store for us and is ready to pass on to us. He says, “I have told you these things”. If He has told us, how can we still have room for doubt. Scripture tells us He is not a man that He can lie. If He said it and has done it, all you can add to it is an Amen. Start walking sporting a new attitude today. Not about how you have failed in the past before through dieting efforts, but how this time around you have assurance and peace from Christ that He has already conquered this former area of defeat in your stead, and He now proclaims you to be victors in Him.

Prayer: Lord God, I thank You for the encouragement and light You always impart to me. I thank You for the peace and victory You bring with You when I turn to Your Word for comfort. I thank You also, Lord, that this time I will face the enemy of discouragement with the knowledge that no enemy can withstand You, and now me that I am walking in Your stead. Thank You for safeguarding this victory for me, as I am now willing to claim it and receive it. Amen
