Day 11 Scripture: 2 Peter 2:9 a So then the Lord knows how to rescue godly men from trials. Application: Is it a trial to be dieting? In a sense, yes, although it is not the trial of persecution for our faith, but it is a trial of our faith. We profess that God can deliver us from this weight problem. That His solution comes directly through the Scriptures, through the power of the Holy Spirit working in us and through us, and through our prayer/His answer for deliverance. If we fail to lose weight is it our fault or shall we blame God? Wings must be put on prayers. We merely do not ask and then sit around eating our hearts out until something happens. We have to apply the knowledge of how to lose weight to ourselves with effort before we see a difference. The same with Scripture application. We can read a Scripture which applies to this area of our life, believe it, but if we do not apply it personally to ourselves, it is only head knowledge, not heart action. The Holy Spirit likewise is our Helper, but He is also a gentleman. If we say, “No, not today, maybe tomorrow”, He goes away grieved. We have had our way which caused us this trial of dieting to begin with, didn’t it? God promises deliverance for godly people, and who are the godly? Those that please God by faith. Today, try exercising your faith in God by seeing the way out of the dieting trap, into the rich heritage of a healthy new lifestyle to embark on. It will make the journey much more comfortable. Prayer: Lord God, we seek deliverance for repeated trial and error in our eating habits. We want to be whole and be able to enjoy the fruits of the earth which You have created for us, but in proportion to what is needful and necessary to nourish us. Help us to push ourselves away from the lure of unwise choices. Make us see Your guidance which is always available if we spend a moment firsthand discussing it with You, before we partake of the food which we ask a blessing over. Thank You, Lord. Amen My Commitment Today: __________________ |
