Bloodline Name/Surname: Akatsura Clan Classification: Bloodline Kekkei Genkai: Kekkei Genkai Element: Fire + Wind Description: The Akatsura are one of the longest lived bloodlines on the continent, having witnessed the rise of the Uchiha--and aided them in their conquests. Dress: The Akatsura's garb, ceremonially, consists of a palette of reds, golds and black, using a tasteful combination of varying fabrics. Leather also accompanies the expensive fabrics, sometimes mixed with metal pieces and precious stones. For combat, the Akatsura clothing has changed relatively little; form fitting and sleek, with dark red, light armor plating. Sleeves and leggings are tapered off with ankle or wrist guards. An Akatsura will typically rely on a fan or number of fans to launch their attacks. Leisure clothing Unique Insignia: Traditions The Akatsura carry a long tradition of aristocracy and political power throughout the Lightning Country. They are responsible for the construction of hot air balloons, using their expertise with wind and fire to maximize the capabilities of their crafts. Through these constructs, the Akatsura have been able to spread their influence widely throughout history, from the Uchiha to the former Fire Country. Clansmen are trained in the Fuuton and Katon styles of ninjutsu, specifically dealing with nature's ability to transfer energy from one form to the next. This natural phenomenon forms the core of their bloodline; utilizing the body's kinetic movements to generate heat and wind, and augmenting that with chakra. This unique "dual casting" ability has led to spectacular displays of fire, in both an artistic form of dance, and a ferocious prowess on the battlefield. Clansmen are trained in the use of fans, and close-mid range combat; preferring wide sweeping movements, with quick execution that allow for rapid strikes. Clan History: The Akatsura hail from the far reaches of the Kumogakure peninsula, ages ago at the Temple of Wu-Xing. It began as a philosophical debate on whether Fire or Wind was more versatile of the Five Elements. Out of the debate, a marriage was born, between Wind and Fire; two practitioners of Wind and Fire were brought together, and set off a chain reaction that would change the course of "Wu-Xing" forever. Sometime during the past, a pact was made with a Salamander from the Spiritual World; Agni, a potent spirit and the manifestation of fire. From this salamander, the clan drew its strength and harnessed the spirit's innate abilities for themselves. They grew in power through a combination of political tactics and battlefield prowess, rising through the ranks in order to take control over those below them. From this foundation they constructed an extremely wealthy aristocracy that has endured for centuries. The Akatsura Clan is believed to have brought their knowledge of Fire, and its relationships with Wind and Water to the rest of the continent. Primarily, the Uchiha Clan, who promised the clan portions of countries that were conquered, in exchange for Katon knowledge. The Akatsura worked behind the backs of the Uchiha's higher ups, and coordinated a coup de' tate that led to the domination of the Senju and the ultimate subjugation of the Uchiha. With allies in the Lightning, Fire and Earth Countries, the Akatsura spread far, and maneuvered themselves carefully, hopping from country to country when needed to stay ahead of political opposition. The Akatsura currently reside in the mountains of Rai no Kuni, separated from the recently conquered Kumogakure. There are rumors afoot that the Akatsura may have coordinated with Otogakure, to ensure the downfall of Kumogakure's government, enabling them to take charge. This is only speculation at this point, however. They hold a private island within the Kirigakure Archipelago, and an estate in Iwagakure. Children are trained in the Flowing Sun arts, beginning at age 5 and 6, and annually present their training to the head Patriarch of their respective branch (Iwa, Kiri, Kumo). Each child will progress on a yearly basis; this is done to ensure that future Gennin are adequately prepared for exams, missions, and general shinobi duty. Shinobi outside of the Akatsura are welcomed to marry one from the clan, keeping the gene-pool strong and thriving by introducing new genes to offspring. Generally, each clansmen carries a red pass bearing a gold tassle and the Akatsura Seal with an inscription below it. This pass is often recognized in many villages, however the Pass will vary depending on Social Status within the Clan. Lower: White-Black seal Mid: Gold-Black Seal Upper: Red-Orange Seal Ruling Family: Gold-Red Seal Kekkei Genkai Information: The Akatsura's chakra affinity's are deeply entwined; producing Wind and Fire at the same time, creating extremely hot fires. This is done by using intense physical movements to generate heat and wind, and augmenting this with the use of a fan and Fire Release. The result, is the potent ability to generate intense, concussive bursts of flame. The use of kinetic motions, and energy transference, to produce fire, has been labeled as the "Flowing Sun". This unique bloodline trait allows the clansmen to produce Wind and Fire simultaneously, fueling one another through movements, and breath control to create outstandingly powerful fires. These flames are controlled with the user of fans, and with their knowledge of air currents, they can bolster the intensity. The "Flowing Sun" also enables the user of hot air balloons and gliders for transportation over long distances. These gliders are fueled by their chakra, create thermals to ride the air currents. When out during the day, an Akatsura can recharge themselves with infrared energy from sunlight. It has been documented by Sensors, that an Akatsura's power is weakest before dawn, however as the sun rises, they generate a surplus of Fire Release, peaking at midday. In addition to being able to draw on sunlight for energy, if possible, an Akatsura may also draw on other sources of heat. In order to generate the appropriate amount of kinetic energy and wind for their techniques, the "Flowing Sun" is either cast through taijutsu (Leopard Kung Fu / Northern Kung Fu) or a series of dancing moves. All Clansmen incorporate some form of fan work into their techniques. In addition to being able to "create" flames through their body, the Akatsura seems to be very resilient to extreme forms of heat exposure; Many have been documented inhaling large amounts of air, and fusing it with Katon, to generate enough heat to burn through metal and chain with their hands, however this is due to creating a coat of Fire and Wind chakra. Limitations: The Flowing Sun, despite granting tremendous Katon prowess comes with a slight downside; An Akatsura cannot be restrained while casting. Should they be restrained, the heat will begin to build in their body. If this occurs, the Akatsura has two options; release it from the mouth as a blast of blue-white flame, or through the pores to generate immense heat. This naturally makes an Akatsura very difficult to capture with traditional methods-- they can usually burn through metal. Direct exposure to molten material, flame, etc. without chakra will cause varying degrees of flesh wounds. Finally, the Flowing Sun, although its flames may be intense, can be combated with Water Release. Although, not directly. Water Release can be used to temporarily disable the Flowing Sun; by casting it at the Akatsura from a different angle, striking the clan member. Or, by wetting their fans, as the fan itself is the catalyst for these intense techniques. |
