- Eminent Spoilers. Do not read unless you played the game or you don't bother with spoilers. You've been warned. -

Thirteen centuries ago, a fal'Cie, a supernatural formed by the crystal that resides within it, created a floating utopian continent in the atmosphere of a Pulse. This same fal'Cie wanted the continent to be completely isolated from the machinery and wildness of Gran Pulse, situated below, and became more of a guardian of citizens. Barriers were set up across the continent after being ultimately named: Cocoon.

Having lived isolated from the outside world for many years, citizens of Cocoon are now anxious about Gran Pulse than before. The recent contact with the world below has caused people to question each other and their ways of life. Have heard these words in the streets, the sanctuary of Cocoon enacted a new edict: Any individual suspected of being in contact with the world of Pulse should be banned from the continent and unconditionally released in inhospitable environment of the planet below.

With this order of Purge, PSICOM oversees the city's residents and visitors of Bodhum, which have been contaminated fal'Cie sleeping in the ruins of Lowerworld Vertigo. The attempt to capture the first visible l'Cie, Serah Farron, failed when the rogue Nora team, led by Snow Villiers, boyfriend of Serah, rescued her and tried to escape through the air until the Pulse fal'Cie.

Far from it, Lightning and Sazh Katzroy disguise themselves and invade a Purge train as it travels to Hanged Edge, hoping to infiltrate and find Serah. After its fall, the two fall in ruins and begin the search. Snow, meanwhile, joins other members of Team and NORA tries to rescue all prisoners purges in Sanctum. The plan ends in tragedy when the platform where they were crashing down, killing many people, including Estheim Nora, mother of Hope Estheim who later joins Oerba Day Vanille, another Purge victim.

The three groups eventually meet after defeating hordes of Cie'ths and rumen towards an inner chamber, lit with brands l'Cie. Inside, Serah was unconscious and is crystallized, leaving behind a gem from her tears to Snow. Lightning, Snow and the rest of the team fighting form glassy Serah, who eventually decide to confront fal'Cie Anima, who originally gave a mission to Serah. The effort will fade in and they just wake up Anima further, that absorbs and branded with the emblem of l'Cie, exploding into pieces Hanged Edge will crystallize and sink into the depths of Lake Bresha.

- Gameplay -

The new battle system called "Comand Synergy Battle" is described as being "more tactical than Final Fantasy X, and more fluid than Final Fantasy X-2, and almost as perfect as Final Fantasy XII." Enemies are visible on the field. Outside of battles, the way of "exploit" allows you to view all the playable characters, along with enemies visible. If they are touched or attacked, the screen will fade to a battlefield to give beginning to a series of bull and bluster. During the battle, the player can control only one character in a group formed by three individuals, although later be possible to switch between the characters do.

Being that we control only one character during a battle the actions of other group members will be affected by the system "Optima Change."

The "Paradigm" is described as "positions" or "classes" that the characters take over temporarily the battles to define the skills they use. However, they are more stringent than the Job System in Final Fantasy V. The character assuming the role of "Doctor" does nothing beyond cure, and so works for all other classes.

The "Paradigm" can be changed at any time, however, they can not be changed individually for each character, but for the trio all at once. There are a total of 56 variations of possible paradigms for the whole group.

The roles that the characters can take are defined by:
Commando (COM), are limited to attack.
Ravager (RAV), discharging offensive spells on enemies.
Sentinel (SEN), protect allies with "Protects"
Synergist (SYN), supporting allies with support magic, such as "Shaft."
Medic (MED), heal allies.
Saboteur (SAB), remove all "buffs" to enemies.

The system "Crystarium" is the new capacity and system statistics to develop Final Fantasy XIII. Each character has a unique Crystarium similar to the "Sphere Grid from Final Fantasy X, although the systems do not intersect. The Crystarium is fueled by Crystogen Points (CP), which are earned after each battle, and are spent to unlock the nodules Crystarium. The Crystarium each character is based around the crystal of his Eidolon and branch out into different planes defined by six different functions.

The growth rate of each Crystarium corresponds to the progress of the game's story. After struggling against some bosses, levels of Crystarium rise, allowing players to move through the layout and possibly improve your stats and learn new skills. However, improving the skills and stats are dictated by each level of function of Paradigms.

Pulse may be found in several places with large crystals that give you various missions. System similar to Final Fantasy XII, often involves removing monsters. These missions, however, not value for the main story.

By completing these tasks, the team can win items and materials to improve their equipment. The big difference for the system of FFXII to FFXIII is in the amount of times we can repeat, unlike the "Hunt Missions in Ivallice that can only take place once.

- Soundtrack -

Nobuo Uematsu, who is already part of the team developing the soundtrack of Final Fantasy XIV is not marked presence in Online Final Fantasy XIII and was replaced by Masashi Hamauzu. This composed "Kimi ga Iru Kara" ("Because You're Here") and "Eternal Love" to the main themes of the game.
These two successes of Asian Pop are both sung by Sayuri Sugawara.

In the Western version, the English singer Leona Lewis was chosen to interpret the song "My Hands" as the main theme of American and European versions.

Consisting of four CDs, the limited edition will also include a "Drama CD" especially with the actors who gave voice to characters in the game.

Ain't all games like that? I mean, seriously, I grow tired of that Linearity excuse. What's the problem of heading straight ahead and never get lost on the Plotline? And most people just say that when the game was yet to begin. Once you get to Gran Pulse you just want to keep going on and know what is going to happen next!

You have a lot of time to explore later in the end. That's how I stacked 100 hours of gametime, and I still haven't achieved everything.

I'm getting through this game slowly but surely. I'm going to say now that it isn't that much of a enjoyable experience. It's kind of like slurping down syrup medicine that tastes awful but then at the end of it, you feel better. That's the only way I can describe the game, thus far.
