What is Genjutsu Genjutsu(literally: "Illusionary Techniques") is an advanced form of ninjutsu that requires high intelligence[1], and a moderate amount of chakra control. Genjutsu use chakra links to control the flow of chakra in the opponent's brain giving you absolute over all of their senses -- sight, sound, touch, smell, taste, or any extra; depending on the target.[2] Those who fall victim to the illusions controlled may be stunned through the horrors of most genjutsu[4], slowed through attempts to gain composure, or left within the genjutsu fighting its effects.[3] * * The sense used in triggering the genjutsu, is the sense that his being manipulated in the genjutsu; and the only sense that is "hindered;" ex. Sound Genjutsu, Sound is Manipulated; Touch Triggered Genjutsu, Touch is Manipulated, and on.[16] [Note] The only known to break the above have been, natural energy users, sharingan users, and Kurama. Each have been known to directly inject their chakra into the cerebellum of the target through chakra-coated triggers. * Area genjutsu is the mass release of chakra, and using this to connect to the cerebellum of those ninja in the preferred "area".[15] This takes an ample amount of chakra, because the chakra is guided to the brains of those within the area. In most cases area genjutsu take to much chakra to project alone and are done in groups situated around the area instead.[20] * It has been found that only genjutsu used by, Kurama[21], Sharingan users[22], and Genjutsu specialists[23], have been able to knock someone unconscious through illusionary techniques. * Those lucky ninja who control a secondary chakra source, can use this to awaken from any genjutsu from the outside; ex. Bijuu, Idou, people with two sources of chakra that is controlled by that ninja.[19] * Genjutsu do not affect clones, unexplainable.[17] * Genjutsu do not affect bugs, unexplainable.[18] Release The Bird and Tiger seals have been known for use to release genjutsu from the inside, but simple taps from other genjutsu users, uneffected by the illusion, have been known to release the effects of genjutsu.[3][5] Genjutsu-Users would be assumed to understand how to control the flow of the target's brain, and releasing it through these taps would be known as a genjutsu itself; by using their chakra to control the flow of it in the target's mind. This is where Genkai; [Illusion Release] comes to play. By using the handseals above, Bird, Tiger, the user will stop the flow of their opponents chakra in their brain and redirect into something else.[5] * * When the user is unable to use the above chakra motivations to release the illusionary techniques, pain is a reliable source to guide the mind to pay attention to real notions.[6][7] * Some Genjutsu cannot even be released, but by primary-specialists in the field of genjutsu. There are some that require the highest level of genjutsu users to release, or those of the same bloodline-limit.[8][9] The Kurama and Sharingan users are the only known shinobi to use such a level of genjutsu; however it seems that the Kurama are the most indept genjutsu clan in the Narutoverse.[10] Specialists Those that specialize in the illusionary arts, actualy specialize purely in the illusionary arts.[11] Only one master genjutsu-user has been known to use other styles of ninjutsu, Itachi, but it has been proven that he was born with the knack for genjutsu[12] and only gained other ninjutsu abilities through the sharingan. Though others have not been that lucky to do so. * * Genjutsu specialist's genjutsu have been known to be un-releasable by those of other nature. Jounin or above in this field can add more chakra to the genjutsu in result of the target attempting to release; this does not happen passively.[13] * PURE-Genjutsu user's genjutsu can only be released through bone deep wounds.[14] Pure meaning the user does not use any other form of ninjutsu or hijutsu(that does not pertain to genjutsu). |
